[Vianca was more often in the library than she was in the room she shared with Sasha. If you needed Librarial assistance, she was there for you.

[Reading was always a favorite past time of Marie's. It served as quite entertainment, and were easy to find even during her years as a work slave. As such, she decided it'd be best if she visited the library.

So cue this girl walking into the library for the first time, and proceeding to look around...until she notices Vianca.]

...excuse me, you are the librarian, correct?

[Vianca glanced up from her seat at the head desk, noticing the girl that looked fairly similar to herself. If she had not already seen this girl around the school before, she might have wondered if that strange portal had opened in the school once more.

The pikmin nodded her head, confirming Marie's inquiry.]

[Marie nodded in return.]

It's nice to meet you. I'm Marie, and I was wondering if you could help me find a book I've been looking for.

It's called The Help. It was written by Kathryn Stockett.

[Since the night of graduation, Eli's been pretty much entirely absent from the library. Maybe Vianca was used to Eli's sporadically going from visiting weekly to never stepping foot inside the humongous building for another few weeks...

The first day it started to rain, Eli showed up at the library. She didn't bother even glancing at the front desk, and she immediately stepped into the labyrinth of shelves, in search of a quiet place to read.]

[She had noticed, of course. There was little in the library that she didn't notice. Who was there, who wasn't. When they came, when they didn't. The snake's absence had been noted each day it grew longer, but the pikmin never let it be a focal point of her thoughts for more than a few passing moments.

On this day, had Eli bothered to look, she would have noted that the tiny librarian actually was not stationed at her desk at the moment. She was actually out amongst the books, replacing some of the titles to the shelves when the snake came into view.]

[When one goes out of their way to avoid someone, stumbling upon them reshelving books is hard not to notice. There's a short-lived hesitance in Eli's step when she realizes she's started down a row occupied by the young Pikmin, but she does continue.

Rather than own up to the fact that she hadn't said a word to Vianca in weeks-- after previously visiting at least once a week-- Eli acts as if nothing peculiar has happened at all.]

Do you need any help with that?

[If Vianca was surprised- which she was- she didn't show it, as usual. Vianca watched the taller girl for a moment before she did anything, considering the option carefully. There was the possibility of letting her continue on her way without doing anything, which Vianca somewhat suspected to be the option that the snake would prefer despite offering. Otherwise she could take advantage of the fact that the snake had offered, and thus it would be all right to exploit this for... whatever reasons Vianca could not really fathom.

But she felt she wanted to.

So she nodded, taking a moment to peruse some of the books that she had with her. The pikmin picked up a few titles that were bound for these shelves.]

These ones are for the higher shelves.

[Without nodding or otherwise acknowledging her answer, Eli took the books from Vianca, deliberately brushing her fingers gently against her smaller, paler hands. A vague feeling of embarrassment crept up Eli's spine, but she brushed it off. Instead, she looked over the titles she'd taken and then back to the bookcase to place them in their proper spot.

She was significantly taller than the Pikmin, but she still had to stretch herself on to the tips of her toes to place some of the books.]

Are you still the only one working here?

[Vianca held no visible reaction to the touch, but inside she faltered just a moment. The feeling pass and she turned back to the other books, picking out a few to reshelf at her level. She was silent for a short while after the question as she turned her head to look this way and that, as if she were looking for someone. Or something.]

... I have an assisstant.

[It was a very short, blunt statement. Vianca placed a book where it belonged.]

He has no hands.

[Similarly, Eli was silent for a moment or two after Vianca replied, as if she were stewing on the paler girl's simple answer. She focused on reshelving one of the books Vianca had handed her, then replied;]

That doesn't sound like much of an assistant.

[What good was someone without hands in a place like a library? Eli would have been almost useless, had she offered to help in her natural form.

The splash of pink that adorned the smaller girl's hair caught Eli's eye. She commented on it very abruptly, bluntly, and without bothering to look towards Vianca as she mentioned it.]

Your bud bloomed.

He is somewhat better with technology.

[Vianca similarly did not look at Eli when she brought her flower up. She paused for a moment in the middle of shelving a book.]

... Yes.

[She continued pushing the book forward and moved on to the next book. Vianca had tried not to give her flower much notice. There was a faint worry that if she properly acknowledged it, it would not stay for long.]

[Vianca's pausing in between shelving just to reply was noticed, although Eli didn't say anything about it. She was more concerned with figuring out what it meant for a Pikmin's flower to bloom without outright asking about it.

She tried to remain a cool, almost careless demeanor, although her movements were tense as she resumed placing books on higher shelves.]

How recently?

A few days.

[Were congratulations in order? Eli didn't know the protocol for this sort of thing. ... Nor was she the type to give congratulations, though.

She didn't even bother with an acknowledging nod. She simply focused her attention entirely to reshelving the last of the books she had.]

[Personally, she would really rather avoid congratulations, so this was working out for her.

But now she was growing a bit more self-conscious. Maybe she should change the way her hair was. Maybe... hmm...

Her next book took her to Eli's other side, so she silently moved over to shelve it.]

... Is it very obvious?

[Eli glanced back at the Pikmin, focused her attention on her flower, and pursed her lips. She hesitated, trying to decipher what Vianca would have wanted to hear.]

If you're paying attention.

[And who else, besides Ai, would have been paying attention? Probably no one, she surmised. It was not as if she had gotten very close to anyone else that was around very often.

Though Eli had noticed. There was a slight tightness in her chest at the thought, but she disregarded it. Eli was simply observant.

Vianca gave the taller girl a very slight glance and nodded.]

I see.

[An unexplained, fleeting sense of embarrassment washed over Eli when Vianca glanced over at her. She placed the last of the books on their shelves and let out a discontented sigh.]

... I'll see you later, Vianca. [Pause. Proudly, concerning the work she'd done for the shorter girl, she added;] You're welcome.

[The tightness came back, spreading to her stomach. It was an unpleasant, nervous sensation as she realized that the tone had shifted and she had most likely done something incorrect again.

The pikmin's gaze lingered slightly before she lowered her head, giving a tiny nod.]
