Dorm Log: the millionth revenge

Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. Everything is acceptable.
When: The span of July 11 - July 22
Warnings: Imagine college, only with more super mushrooms-- WAIT NO lollipop drugs are the craze these days.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's what's going down. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. So have at it! Don't let this log get away untagged.

Keep in mind that starting the 17th, the school will progressively be inundated with flood waters.

Link - everywhere.

[Link has been around. He's incredibly quiet and generally keeps to himself, though. That might be why he doesn't seem to really know anyone yet... Although he's not rude, there is a certain aloofness about him.

He doesn't seem to wake up until after noon-- at least, that's when he finally emerges from his dorm. It's easy to catch him completely zoned out, staring at something or other for an amount of time that is probably longer than necessary (more often than not; the sky).

Occasionally, he'll set himself up for archery training in the lawn near the lake. He seems to spend most of his time, however, just wandering around. Exploring empty classrooms, taking more food from the student kitchen than what's appropriate, napping in the courtyard, or absently carving ornate designs into tabletops.]

Staring at the sun

[Link had found the other Link sitting on a bench in one of the small dorm courtyards. The older man was intently staring at the sky. So intently that he didn't notice Link walking past. Or his coming over and climbing on the bench next to him. Or the waving of a hand in front of his face.

That must be some really important thing in the sky to be watched so intently.

So Link sat down next to him and looked up, trying to figure out what was so important. His short legs swinging because his feet couldn't reach the ground.]

[It certainly wasn't the first time someone had completely evaded Link's attention while he was staring off into space.

Only after the younger of the two of them had sat down did Link notice someone else was in his presence. That probably was a strike against his supposedly heroic character; shouldn't he be more alert...? He pushed the thought aside and gave the younger Link a quizzical nod of his head.

What had prompted the little one to join him?]

[Link caught the movement of the other's head out of the corner of his eye and turned his attention to the man. He smiled and waved.]

Hello. What are you looking at?

[Link skips a beat, pausing before he answers rather plainly;]

The sky.

[breaks_pots]

Is that all?

[heroflegend]

Yes.

[Another pause.]

I lived there. Above the clouds.

[breaks_pots]

Really?

[That's so cool!]

How'd you live so high up without wings?

[heroflegend]

[He smiles.]

On an island called Skyloft. I was able to travel to other islands in the sky on my Loftwing.

[And he keeps it at that.]

[breaks_pots]

You have a loftwing? Like Miss Zelda?

[Wait. This Link might not know about all the Zeldas.]

I mean Miss Zelda that has a loftwing, not Miss Zelda who is the R.A. or Miss Zelda that's a ghost.

[Wait... what?]

Yes. She's from Skyloft, too.

[Pause. He's surprised, but he maintains that aloof look of his.]

There's a third Zelda here? A ghost?

[breaks_pots]

Mm.

[Link gave a single, firm nod.]

She doesn't have a body of her own anymore so she's a ghost.

Strange. [But-- from what Link's experienced-- completely plausible. He nods sternly.] What happened to her?

YOU ARE AT AN ARCHERY BECAUSE I SAID SO

[Oh man oh man Link is out there practicing with his bow wow oh wow this is soooo great!! Pit is atop a hill obscured by trees stalking him watching him with binoculars go a few practice rounds.

Which... Link was this. Squint. Must be the Skyward Sword edition. Darn!! He hadn't played that game yet!!! It WAS kind of recent. That only makes him even more ~mysterious~ than any other Link incarnation. Good thing he finally understands how Link works. (He's not a specie.) Should he be careful with being too candid about "delicate information"? Ohhh what if he slips up and starts talking to him about info he technically shouldn't throw around? Palutena HAD given him a talking-to...

He should be JUST FINE. Besides, they already met. Sure did feel like ages ago, though... Pit finally dashes from his copse of trees and bolts down the small hill, taking flight just enough to glide down and alight in Link's general space.] Hey, Link! What's up? Ohh, you must be training with your bow! Nice!

[Oh, a familiar face. Pit had been polite enough to show Link around a few weeks back. Hadn't he said he was leaving, though...? Oh, well, unimportant now. Link offered Pit a warm smile and an awkward wave from behind his archery gear.]

Yeah. [He nods, resumes his position and continues to take aim at the target he's set up.] Yourself?

[WATCHING YOU FROM AFAR-- oh wait that sounds major creepy NO WAY time to think up something more innocuous]

Ohhhh... Well. Not much, I guess! Though practicing with my own bow does look sort of tempting, now that I'm watching you do it. Um. You don't mind, do you?

Not at all.

[Link makes his shot, and although it's not particularly close to the center, it is on the target. Which is more than he can say for the other arrows in the nearby grass.

He steps aside for Pit to take his place. He waits a beat, then asks;]

How was your visit home?

[Pit takes out a rather ornate but strange-looking bow as he takes his place beside him.]

Quite the adventure, actually! Well, the last few years of it were, anyway. The rest was a vacation.

[Blink... What?]

You weren't gone that long. Were you...?

[WAS I SLEEP FOR A FEW YEARS????]

[He must not have read his journal entry! Time to break the news.]

Almost thirty years, actually. [He cocked his bow and fired without missing a hitch. Instead of an arrow, out came... a popping noise one might associate with "sparkly"... and a heart-shaped projectile that sailed gently like a glittery bubble in the wind to meet its target. Upon impact it burst vibrantly, kind of... ruining the target. Whoooooops]

[Wait. What?]

Wait. What?

[Link looked at his own hands. 30 years couldn't have passed since the last time he'd seen Pit. That was only weeks ago. ... Right?]

Thirty years! I was gone for thirty years. [He runs his hand through the back of his hair and stares at the busted target penitently.] Sorry about that target, by the way... Maybe I should use a different bow.

[heroflegend]

[Quite honestly, Link hadn't even really noticed Pit had destroyed his target. After giving it a quick glance, he really didn't care, either. He just shook his head dismissively as if to say 'don't worry about it.' There were much more important things to talk about.]

I just saw you not too long ago.

[Maybe Pit was a time-traveler. That would have been alright; but he could have just said so.]

Yeah. About that... I think time must have gone by differently for me, and differently for the academy. That's why to you, I was gone only a couple weeks, but to me, it felt like decades flew by. Does that make sense?

[heroflegend]

[Link only pauses for a moment to consider this. His eyes wander back to where his target stood. Not looking back at Pit, Link nods.]

That makes sense.

It's almost as if you've traveled through time. I understand.
