When: The span of February 27 - March 13
Warnings: This log is yellow-taped with all kinds of potential warnings. If your filthy imagination can conjure it, this log can produce it.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Feel like drawing graffiti on Professor Jin's door? Apologizing for the aftermath of the latest cupidbot fiasco? Doing each others' hair and talking about boys? Giving your trusted(?!?) friends a free ride in the dryer? Staying up late at night making use of those dick-shaped cake pans you found in the cupboard? Man, I don't care, just do it! Don't let this log get away untagged.

"Should be fairly fun, yes. What's your first class, anyway? Something you can skip?"

Because if they didn't have to come back too early, why would they? Any of Jon's classes could be skipped easily enough. He really didn't mind.

"Ain't got a mornin' class tomorrow so we should be fine." she replied as if she already knew what he was thinking. Frankly, she had thought about it herself, which is why she had packed a bit of extra things anyways.

"Perfect. We can wander back in about nine thirty or so, get washed up and presentable for afternoon classes." Jon replied with a nod. "That is, if we work hard enough this evening to decide we deserve something of a lie in."

"Like we ever take it easy," Riwane mused as she grabbed her bag and shouldered it.

"Wonderin' if we're gunna work hard enuff is like wonderin' if we're gunna breathe." she said with a hearty laugh before winking.

"Let's git this show on tha road shall we?"

"Lets."

Jon shouldered his now markedly more empty duffle bag and started to head out the door. It had a few useful supplies in it - toothbrush, shaving kit, that kind of thing. He'd wondered if the trip out might have become an overnight thing and so threw them in there just in case.

"Grab whatever gear you want to bring with and I'll meet you in the hall."

"Whut? Ah'm already ready silly!" she replied with a giggle.

"Let's hit that dusty trail!"

"Alright - travelling light is a good quality to have." he replied, closing the door once she'd exited, and starting down the hall. He draped his tail over the small of her back and stuck his hands in his pockets.

Riwane smiled and leaned against him.

The trip to the selected spot would be filled with the teenage ramblings of an actively social girl.

Hope you don't mind a sore ear by the time you reach the spot Jon!

While it was true he had very sensitive ears, Jon didn't mind listening to her chatter. And he'd chime in every so often where pertinent with an 'Oh?' or a 'Who, now?' or a 'Hmph.' or sometimes even an 'Oh, I see.'. He was actively listening, even if his commentary was short and monosyllabic - She just knew more people than him and he had little input to give, even if he was happy to hear she was getting out and about more. It was good for a girl her age to have more friends than just one grumpy older guy who hated everyone. OK, well, maybe not hated, but generally avoided.

"We're getting near - did you want to find a place to make base camp first or did you want to train first, hunt for a spot later?"

You're input is always appreciated Moonshine, no matter how monosyllabic it is!

"Let's git camp down an' outta tha way, that way we can focus on trainin' till we're achin'" she said with a smirk.

"Alright - solid plan."

Jon dropped his duffel bag and gave a stretch before starting to case the area for good 'around the compfire' rocks and bits of firewood.

"Didn't bring any sleeping gear with - Still. We can make a pile of softer leaves and grasses easily enough. And I'll happily serve as your pillow."

"Didn't think we'd need sleepin' gear! We're children of tha woods! Primal creatures! The world is our oyster!" she exclaimed with a bit of exaggeration before laughing.

"Saw it in a movie, Ah think it applies to all us fighters who love tha outdoors s'much as we do."

"That and those of us who're used to spending time in the wild due to being monsters." Jon replied with a smirk. He was no stranger to the pile of leaves or the small cave or the large tree branch. Though, most of those weren't made for two.

Riwane chuckled. "Eyup, but nowadays that term kinda lost its meanin' at least in tha way most think 'bout it. Ah'd say tha monsters are based more n' attitude all things considered."

"Yeah. I can see that point of view. Though, for me, it's more of a return to the norm... Like I said, Humans in my world, in my time... well. They act this way all the time. It's not some strange, rare occurrence. It's every day life. See something different? Shoot it and smash it till there's nothing left, burn the spot where it died and tell your mates about it down at the local pub every night for the next twenty years."

He'd finished gathering up rocks by this time, and dropped them to the ground in a place that looked like a likely spoit to light a campfire.

"And luckily enough, Humans in this place are just as slow and awkward as back home, so they've not been able to catch me yet."

If Jon would look up at his partner, he would notice that as the conversation went on, she seemed to get more and more depressed. Riwane rubbed her arm thoughtfully as she listened to Jon's words before she simply took a seat, looking up at the night sky.

"Y'think things will ever go back to normal?"

"Not for me to say, Luv." Jon replied with a small shrug as he arranged the rocks into a ring. "I s'pose it's more likely than not, but I've made a habit out of not expecting the best from Humanity. 'Hope for the best, plan for the worst' is sound advice. I just forgo the first part most of the time when it comes to Homo Sapiens and it's many failings. Barring a few wonderful exceptions."

Cammy, Gold and... uh.... Um. Nope. Just Cammy and Gold. Gold's Mom too. She'd knitted him a scarf, after all. That was lovely.

That... didn't really help her mood and her tail drooped from it's usual active movement to rest, curled up around her and her wings dropped almost to hug her.

"Yeah... Ah guess yer rite..." Except she didn't want to believe that. She had seen it, yes. And had heard of all the horrible things humans have done but... still... she wanted to hope.

Jon looked over at her. Ah. He'd upset her. Again.

"...look, I'm sorry. You've got to remember, luv, the places we come from are very different. My view on Humanity is ALWAYS going to be colored by my experiences... I doubt I'll ever feel comfortable among their number and I feel I've every right to be wary. You, however, will always have a place amongst humanity to call your own back in Kanto. We can only live in hope that Humanity here can learn from it's brethren in the Pokemon regions and that may well be the case."

Riwane rubbed her arm and nodded, "Ah know Moonshine.... Ah know. Ah jus'.... Ah can't understand why people would act that way s'all. It's jus' so cruel and unnecessary."

"Look, you're talking of a species who was quite happy for thousands of years to put it's own into positions of slavery. Beat and torture one another and don't even get me started on Human wars. It seems as though the Pokemon regions have never known such strife and so I'd not be surprised if you'd never heard about most of the things Humanity is capable of, but... well, other worlds have not been so lucky."

Despite what he was saying, his voice was soft and consolatory. Riwane's view of Humanity was informed by a kindly couple, an adoring child, and a mostly sweet extended family. Farm folk and some of Humanity's finest people more than likely. He didn't expect her to know about gems like WW2 or the slave trade out of Africa.

"It takes some getting used to, but it's... well. This is the world we live in right now and Humans are dicks here too. However. It's not all too dire, I mean, we have each other and we've the option to avoid Humanity where possible. Not much use getting upset over what can't be changed, eh?"

That... Had not been the response she was expecting, that much was made clear by her current expression. Riwane wasn't blind to some things, especially things she had learned and studied about school. But it being put out there so plainly, so openly, it made it seem like this was how it was supposed to be and that made a knot form on her throat.

She had always been fun loving, caring, care free, live it up kind of gal who always saw the good side of things. With what was happening in the city and what Jon had said however, she was starting to question things on a more personal level and she didn't think she liked that.

"M-maybe this wasn't such a good idea..." What if they got caught out here? What if things just continued growing worse and worse. What if the school got attacked and their friends hurt?

"And why's that, then?" Jon asked, genuinely confused. Was she angry at him? He was just telling it how it was. He was honest to the point of painfullness sometimes, and he knew that much. But so did she - surely she wasn't sore at him for it now?

[blazebottom]

"Ah jus' dunno if it's safe out here y'know? An'... Ah dun want ya gettin' hurt." Especially not if he had to go and protect her if they got outnumbered.

"Luv, we're out in the mountains. Humans stick to the cities and towns, in general. And those who don't, well, they tend to come to the wilderness in small, easily defeated groups. If we were to face off against a group of unruly outdoorsmen, I think I can hold my own. Oh, and I've a fire breathing dragon with me just to make things even more ridiculously unfair."
