The explanation was a bit shocking. To put it lightly. Eirika didn't know what to say at first. She wanted to help. That was her first reaction. But was it too forward of her to offer that? The people in the academy were not her people. She had to respect their traditions and their lines of privacy and pride. Even those with fool pride.

"Oh..." she finally began, still trying to piece her words together. "I'm not sure how much assistance I could be, but if you would need it, I would gladly give mine." If only because she knew how terribly she wanted to see her own homeland. The feeling definitely wasn't lost on her.

"I appreciate the thought," Blaze said. Well, she had done it again. Without intending to, she had someone else who wanted to help her on her mission. "Thank you..."

In hindsight, Eirika realised something very crucial. "I've been sitting with you this entire time and have yet to tell you who I am. A nameless woman has no place offering her assistance. One would lack trust for just such a thing, no matter how good the intent may be."

She motioned to herself, "I am Eirika, Princess of Renais." Notably no longer in Renais, but Blaze probably gathered that. "Might I have the privilege of your name?"

Blaze nodded. "I suppose I should return the favour," she added with a small smile, realizing that yes, they carried on this entire conversation without introducing themselves. "I am Blaze the Cat, princess of Soleanna."

So much nobility. Blaze certainly wasn't the first princess Eirika had crossed paths with. It was just so unique to see them so different. People like Peach were... casual, which was something Eirika never would have dreamed of being. But Blaze seemed more like her.

"A privilege, Princess," she greeted with a polite incline of her head. "I hope I haven't seemed too forward."

"It's fine," Blaze replied. "I don't mind. Thank you for listening," she added.

"It was my honour," Eirika reassured her gently. "You seemed as though you could use a listening ear. It may be my own history speaking for me, but I grew up believing that it was very important that I could be a person who was capable of listening and taking action."

Resting her hands upon her lap, she gave a smile. "After all, since I know a trouble of yours, I may be able to assist. That pleases me."

"A very noble sentiment," Blaze replied with a smile. "And if there's anything I can do to help you, please don't hesitate to let me know," she offered.

Eirika's expression lit up a bit at the invitation. "It is not something I particularly need help with, per se. Rather I have a question, or perhaps I am looking for an opinion." Lifting a hand, she motioned around them, "I have heard some people say they are unable to leave this academy. But I have also heard there are portals to the homelands. And I have also been told that some choose to stay here as it is more convenient to protect their world from here."

Then she looked a little more serious as she continued, "Is there a way to close a portal to a world, Princess?"

Blaze looked curiously at her at that most unusual request. "Why do you ask?" she inquired. "Is there somewhere you don't want to get back to?"

Eirika shook her head, "No. It isn't like that."

Looking aside for a moment, she tried to put her words together appropriately. Then she eyed Blaze again, "Someone here told me that this academy is a centralised location for a variety of other worlds. I'm skeptical, of course, but it was brought to my attention that anyone here can have access to my homeworld."

The princess tapped at her chin with some thought, "The lands I hail from are already in the midst of war. I cannot bring to them any further potential threats. When I find the portal to my world, I intend to return and behind me, to close any such connection, for the safety of my people and my kin."

"To be honest... I don't know," Blaze replied. "This city is a strange place with many different connections to different places. I don't think anyone knows how many there are or how to find them all..."

"I am unsure of where to start my search," Eirika agreed. "But I cannot let the idea sit. I must try, otherwise sitting by idly will get nothing done."

Even with Innes at the academy, she couldn't remain still. She could not ask him for his help either. She didn't wish to. He had his own reasons for being there, after all, and the Magvel he'd come from seemed to be in peace. His aid would do very little to benefit her, she thought.

"You said you were looking for your emeralds to find your way home. Perhaps I need to find something in order to return to mine as well. Perhaps it is only a test of endurance."

"Perhaps it is," Blaze replied. "I can only speak to my own circumstances for being here. I'm not sure how it is you've come here, but if it was not by your own will, I do wish you luck in finding your way back."

"Thank you, Princess," she replied, feeling a bit softer. Or that she was permitted to be a bit softer. "I know I'll find my way. If I should need your assistance, however, I'll be certain to let you know."

Eirika's expression brightened minutely, "In the same way that you should let me know how I can help. After all, you need to find your Sol Emeralds. I may be able to help with that. Two is better than one."

"It's a deal," Blaze replied. "Thank you."
