Dorm Log The Sequel To End All Sequels

Who: COLLECTIVE YOU
What: Dorm log!
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. If your heart dreams it, your fingers can type it.
When: The span of February 27 - March 13
Warnings: This log is yellow-taped with all kinds of potential warnings. If your filthy imagination can conjure it, this log can produce it.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Feel like drawing graffiti on Professor Jin's door? Apologizing for the aftermath of the latest cupidbot fiasco? Doing each others' hair and talking about boys? Giving your trusted(?!?) friends a free ride in the dryer? Staying up late at night making use of those dick-shaped cake pans you found in the cupboard? Man, I don't care, just do it! Don't let this log get away untagged.

Flynn herself had never been good at introductions, nor much at conversation in general. Even as she became more exposed to the residents of the school, she had found herself still finding it strange as to what to do when faced with someone.

And this introduction- it didn't cross the Scizor's mind to attempt at all to give her own name. It was usually a loss cause, and it had only been in her time with Lyra that she had 'owned' a name at all. She had been with the girl for quite a long time now, but to how many others had she thought to give it to?

She looked at Eirika, with nothing to give to her but silence. But a previous encounter with a human came to her mind, where an introduction was made. To make the meeting "official"...

Perhaps abruptly, the Scizor stuck one of her pincers straight out, closed and in front of Eirika. She eyed her, and said in a rather strong voice, "Scizor."

The motion itself was a foreign one for Renais' younger twin. At first she simply stared and found herself unsure of what to do. Was she supposed to move? Was the gesture one of hostility? How was she to communicate with a creature that she knew not what to do with? What if...

What if this... odd creature in red had eaten Lyra? The thought was a little ridiculous in hindsight because Eirika couldn't imagine someone like that being allowed into such an area. Or allowed to stay in the area. Innes' reminder rung true in her mind, however. She would need to watch herself. It also wasn't impossible for someone less than savoury to come from Magvel simply for the sake of cornering her.

And it wouldn't have been hard to do.

Hesitantly, she finally moved to mirror Flynn. One hand moved out and not really sure what else to say, Eirika followed in suit. "Scizor."

Was the human dumbfounded or mocking her? The Scizor couldn't help but feel it was somehow the latter, though it was from her embarrassment that made her feel as much. If it had been in the past, she would have responded angrily at the reaction, but Flynn tried to keep her emotions in check.

But maybe not as good as she could, when, after a moment, she made a bashing motion in the air, each singular and separate, as if timed, and said again in a more harsher and louder voice, "SciZOR."

It wasn't like Lyra hadn't been curious about her new roommate; she'd always been the kind of girl who had a hard time staying out of people's business, and she was outgoing enough to figure that it was her job to make a new student (or presumably new; the name Eirika wasn't one she'd seen before) feel more at home here. The timing, though, never quite seemed to be right. Either her new roomie was absent from the room, or Lyra herself was off somewhere else on her usual misadventures or distracted with such direly important matters as the latest episode of her radio dramas. There never really seemed to be a good moment to play the roommate welcoming committee.

Lyra had thought that might be the case today too; she'd been busy with a trip to the FDC Poke Mart to stock up on trainer essentials, but a sale on Pokedolls had meant she'd stayed out longer than she'd planned to. With her bag crammed full of Revives and Full Heals (and maybe a stuffed animal or two for her collection), she'd hurried home as quick as she could -- Flynn was probably waiting for her!

Lyra didn't expect Eirika to be home when she bustled through the door; she let out a surprised little "oh" when she walked in to find roomie and Scizor face to face, sticking their hands out like they were trying for some kind of awkward fistbump. Surprise quickly gave way to delight, though, once she clued in about what was going on. "Hey, you guys are making friends already?" Lyra blurted, smiling from ear to ear.

It was true that Eirika had fought back a wince. The last thing she'd wanted was for Flynn to magically show her that her training and sparring with Ephraim and Seth had been all for naught. She could fight against a staff. She could hold her own against a sword. Whatever Flynn was using, however, Eirika found herself truly handicapped. But intrigued, because learning to stand against that could prove beneficial to the Knights of Renais.

Lyra's entrance immediately caught Eirika's attention. Her posture straightened, one hand behind her back and the other crossed over her chest. In a way, it was almost like she was standing at attention when being called up for departing from camp. As if she began to remember her actual position, however, she kept a proper composure - if not glaringly regal - and inclined her head politely.

"I think I am sooner becoming a frustration," she admitted with a reserved smile. "M..." Miss Lyra? Lady Lyra? How complicated. "Lyra, I presume?" She cast a glance over to Flynn curiously, to see if the odd insect creature would confirm or deny.

What a waste. Whether the human had been truly dumbfounded or acted so intentionally, the embarrassment Flynn felt only grew in her attempt. What luck then she had when Lyra popped herself in, to who the Scizor looked at. Her arrival didn't take away any of that irritation, but with the human introducing herself to her trainer, Flynn placed her pincer down to her side.

"Scizor," the Pokemon spoke to answer Lyra. Her voice wasn't as harsh as it had just been, but still there was a trace of annoyance in the negative tone. Making friends? Hardly; her attempt at "officially meeting" the person was nothing short of a failure. Refusing to humiliate herself any further, the Scizor moved from Eirika and went to stand by Lyra's bedside, looking over to the trainer once more before off into another direction, to allow the two to speak. She didn't want to have to linger on the actions that just took place, and so she had nothing to add.

So just ignore the big red sulking insect, okay.

The mile-wide grin faded a little as Lyra started cluing into the thoroughly tense atmosphere in the room. Uh-oh. She didn't exactly know her new roomie well, but she definitely knew Flynn well enough to know what that sulkiness meant. Okay... decidedly not making friends, hm.

"Yep, that's me!" she told Eirika. "Welcome to the school! Um... one quick sec, okay? I'm gonna check on Flynn real quick. That's her name, by the way. Flynn." She was already gravitating over to Flynn's side to soothe her Scizor; it was trainer instinct that made it hard to ignore when their Pokemon were unhappy. She could only try to guess what had gone on in her absence. Probably not an argument or anything like that, because Flynn might have taken that as a suggestion to fight. This was a bit too sharp for her usual stoicness, too. "Feeling hurt?" Lyra asked softly, leaning in close so Flynn wouldn't have to answer out loud -- she had her pride, after all.

It wasn't hard to feel a little sheepish. Considering she was obviously encroaching on what appeared to be private territory, Eirika wondered if it was possible at all to request private quarters for herself. She couldn't imagine sharing room and board was something her brother would have thought particularly proper, but chances were with the way things at the academy had gone thus far, Eirika's requests were going to fall on deaf ears.

How did a hand hear, anyway? Much less, how did one even speak?

She watched the exchange between Lyra and Flynn for a few moments before she did what she thought was best and averted her gaze. Instead, she found herself looking at the more barren half of Lyra's room - the side that she assumed would be hers. She'd had no plans of a long stay at the academy, but perhaps it wouldn't be absolutely horrible to decorate it at least a little.
