Manah offered a smile. It was good to see her and she seemed so happy, a good thing around here, given how much fighting had gone on.

"Born from a computer?" Manah tilted her head just a bit. From what she understood from them, they weren't sentient beings but instead a tool and a means to work. What sort of work wasn't entirely clear to her, but as far as she could tell, they couldn't talk back. "I wasn't aware computers could have children."

Maisy paused for a moment, thinking about that, but soon enough shook her head. "I don't think they caaan, not by themseelves."

There was a desire to sit down and explain it, but it was a desire to sit down onto the floor than on the chair. She stopped herself though before even making such movements, and spotted the free chair on her side. So, since she was supposed to be human-like, she pulled it out and sat down in it.

"My friend, he had a daaad who made him. He could go inside computers, because he was smaart. Pulse said that when he was young, he didn't have any leeegs or aarms, just his head! But then he grew upp, and now he can walk aroound like a human."

But at part, Maisy's face lowered a little, at knowing how things turned out from all that Pulse had told her.

"He wants to bring his brother back to life, 'cause he's from the computers toooo. But his dad made his brother when he got hurt and and turned baaad. Pulse's dad and mama went into the computers, but it went wrong..."

Manah listened carefully. Computers eluded her so often, and now just as she thought she understood at least some of what they could do, she now heard this. It wasn't necessarily that the idea was incredulous, just rather foreign. Computers creating other computers? Growing up? There was much more to this computer thing than she realized.

Manah couldn't completely understand losing family. She never really had one to speak of. Her mother beat her, her father was unknown, and her brother was the favorite child. She just wanted to be loved but never got it. "That's most unfortunate. Did the brother survive?"

Then she added strangely quietly, "Mommy why didn't you love me?"

Maisy saw Manah's lips mvoe after the question, though she didn't hear exactly what it was she said. It made her tilt her head, but there was a question there- and so she decided to answer that, wondering if it was nothing.

"Maa... he says he needs to find a thing..." Maisy tried to remember what it was exactly. "A cooode? But he needs help to use it. But if he can, he can have his brother back!"

She swayed a bit as she sat in the chair, grasping the edges of it with her hands. "Do you know lots about compuuuteers? I lived outside, so I didn't know anyyythiing about computeers until I came to schooool."

Manah was unfortunately unaware of what she had mumbled. Her mind had repressed much of her familial problems, turning them into a bit of a psychosis. She continued on as if she'd said nothing.

"A code? Like a password?" Manah tilted her head a bit. She was largely unfamiliar with what a computer entailed.

"Computers don't exist where I'm from," Manah replied. "I only know what I learned here." Perhaps she'd sit in on a class or two about computers.

Password? The word was as much of a puzzle to Maisy as the word code was for Manah. She tried to think about it, but shook her head.

"Do you think they're strange tooo? But my friend's showing me how to use one, and she said you can use it to talk to lots of peopleee. I like that. Do you do that with youuurs?" Speaking, Maisy looked at the computer on Manah's desk. "Talk to frieeends?"

"Computers are very strange," Manah agreed. "I do use it to talk to other people in the school." She didn't necessarily have friends to speak of, but she did talk to other people and even people she didn't want to talk to (but that was mostly his fault for bothering her). "That is it's only purpose for me."

"We should talk with them too!" Maisy decided, the idea of it fun- as if it was somehow exciting. Well, for the girl who had never done it before, it would be a new experience.

"I can come visit you and we can talk this waaayy..." a pause, as she thought about it. "... maa, but if it rains, we can talk on the compuuuuter! Is that okaaay? I like talking to people too."

Manah nodded. "That sounds like an excellent idea." It was fun to have someone to chat with, but it was also fun to chat with someone in person. "We could have the best of both."

"Ma!" A brilliant idea. And the subject seemed like a good one to follow up with talking more right now. With a smile, Maisy asked Manah, "Can we talk nooow? What do you do at school? Are you a teeeacher?"

Manah, with her office, certainly didn't seem like the average student. The girl was sure she had read something in particular on the door of room, but she didn't have a clue of what it meant.

"We can always talk," Manah smiled. "I'm the guidance councilor here. I help students choose their classes and possible paths for their future." Manah was hardly the proper person to do so. She spent her early years destroying most of the region in the name of the gods, then lived the rest believing it wasn't her, that she was fighting the good fight and trying to save the world. She thoroughly believed in her cause and persuaded people to help her free the world from the malicious gods. She was good at guiding people, simply not in the best way.

"I also lend an ear for whoever needs to talk." Now this she was good at doing.

"Maaa, so talking is your specialllty?" It was a little funny, given their previous agreement to talk to each other, but Maisy found it most of it all intriguing. Mister Gordon had his science, and Manah had her talking! It sounded like a neat thing, to be able to help people by apparently just talking to them.

Manah had never really thought about it that way, as she was always seen as rather under qualified for the position. But if it was one thing she could do, it was talk, and she was very charismatic. People listened to her.

"It does seem that way, doesn't it?"

Maisy nodded her head eagerly. "It sounds like fuuun," she admitted. "If you help people with classees, does that mean you take them tooo? What classes do you go tooo?"

Though Maisy couldn't remember seeing the woman in any of hers. Maybe she only took some?

She shook her head. "I don't go to any."

"So what do you doooo? How do you help?"

"I try to help students find classes best suited to their strengths and ones to help improve weaknesses," Manah replied. It was important to be well-rounded.

"Maa..." That sounded sensible, though it made Maisy think about her own classes and if she picked good ones like that. Weaknesses... she definitely picked a lot to cover her weaknesses, which was a lot of things. But it had been out of an interest for them.

But did she have any strengths? The Mareep couldn't think of anything she took for that.

"How do you pick a strong classs?" she asked. "Gold helped me pick my classsees, and I took the ones my frieends are iiin too... but I'm not very gooood in theem. I have to study everydaaay."

"Think about things you like to do," Manah replied. "Do you like art? Sciences? Sports?" She'd gotten pretty good at helping people find classes over the years, despite schools being so incredibly different here than at home. Not that there was much in the way of schools, but Manah did have an education.

"It is okay to have hard classes," Manah added. "Then you can make yourself stronger."

Hmmm, what did Maisy like? She had to think about that, and she tilted her head a bit as she sat there.

"Art's.... drawiiiings and colours, riiight? And sports is... iiss... maaa.."

Ah, didn't Gold say the word once? But though she was usually good at remembering things, Maisy couldn't quite recall what it was. Science, though, she knew that from Mister Gordon.

Manah nodded. "There is a painting class here. Dance and theater as well. "Those seem like they would work well for you." Well Manah could attempt to explain sports but she didn't exactly know them either.

"They doooo?" Really? That surprised Maisy, but the look of surprise was replaced quickly enough with a smile. "I know Garrry, he does the paiinting. I don't mind playing with him!"

If Manah said so, maybe she should try them? The idea played around in her mind. Maybe just one or three more classes wouldn't matter, right? Even though taking them had been surprisingly tiring, she had found out rather quickly.

Manah nodded. "I think you should sign up for the classes or even just one to start. I bet you'll enjoy them."

"Okay!" Well, Maisy was convinced! She'll find herself in a class someday. But at that, Maisy asked, "Why don't you come to class tooo? You could have fun too, Maaanaaah."

Now there was an interesting thought. She was faculty but it wasn't that Manah really did much with her position. People talked and she advised. That was it, really. "That does sound like fun."
