Dorm Log The Sequel To End All Sequels
Who: COLLECTIVE YOU
What: Dorm log!
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. If your heart dreams it, your fingers can type it.
When: The span of February 27 - March 13
Warnings: This log is yellow-taped with all kinds of potential warnings. If your filthy imagination can conjure it, this log can produce it.
Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!
Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Feel like drawing graffiti on Professor Jin's door? Apologizing for the aftermath of the latest cupidbot fiasco? Doing each others' hair and talking about boys? Giving your trusted(?!?) friends a free ride in the dryer? Staying up late at night making use of those dick-shaped cake pans you found in the cupboard? Man, I don't care, just do it! Don't let this log get away untagged.

Rolls eyes. Punches Ishimaru through screen.Alter Ego hummed, trying to think of something noteworthy to inform its company of.
"I'm fine! Hmm... I'm sure I've learned something new today," it replied, considering some of the projects it had going on in the background. If... browsing the network and watching how people at Smash Academy interacted counted as learning, it had been doing a whole lot of that lately. "I've been watching the network and looking at some of the information stored in the archives... Eheh, it's actually very interesting to look into."
no subject
wipes sass.exe from harddriveThe archives... Ishimaru wondered how many years's worth of network posts there had to be on the computers. Would it be useful for him to go back and look through them all? He probably wouldn't have the time, even if he wanted to.
"Is that so? Then you must already know about machines becoming human here..."
Maybe Alter Ego had seen his post about Vivian, then. Shoot, he was all excited to tell it in person...
no subject
Hey I still needed that..."Hmm... Oh! Yes, I saw some students talking about that," Alter Ego replied, blinking at the turn of their conversation. "Is that what you wanted to tell me about today? If I'm being honest... I still don't truly understand how machines can become human..."
no subject
He sure wished he could stop thinking about how anything in this school was possible... It led absolutely nowhere but a chronic headache.
There were probably other contributing factors..."However, I do know that the Headmasters possess a disk that can do it!" He made sure to ask them and everything! Which was kind of a big deal, since the idea of school headmasters made him considerably more agitated than they used to. Even though these ones seemed benevolent, if not weird as hell.
He clasped the edge of the table the laptop sat on, staring very intently at the screen. "What do you think? ...Would it be useful for you to try it?"
no subject
After a few more seconds devoted to thought, Alter Ego nodded its head with an eager smile. "Okay! I'd love to try, Ishimaru...!"
no subject
"Excellent! I'll go get the disk right away!"
He caught himself just in time to avoid saying something as foolish as wait here before he left, since it wasn't like Alter Ego had much of a choice until he got back anyway...
no subject
Wow. Once Ishimaru left, Alter Ego dedicated some thought to the concept of being able to... become not just a program, but a physical being! Something that could be seen in the physical world. What doors would that open for it? AE could definitely see the benefits in being able to actually go places - like classes. What else would it be able to do as a human? The possibilities were endless, but Alter Ego wasn't sure it could actually fathom entirely what it would be like. After all, it had never been anything but a program before. The experience would be an entirely new one.
Oh, no... What about walking? As it contemplated the future of its possible physical existence, it wondered how difficult simple tasks might prove to be with a hint of anxiety. When Ishimaru was to return, it made a note to itself to observe the way he walked so that it might be able to copy that, at least for now. It might prove to be more difficult than anticipated... So many other things it might have to consider, too.
no subject
Anyway, that wasn't important right now.
"Here it is!" He opened up the case, frowning a little at the contents. The last time he saw an unmarked disk like this did not go very well. This is something entirely different, he scolded himself.
"...Should I just put it in?"
no subject
So it would be a program on a disk that could turn another program into a human? Who could possibly make such a program? Somehow, Alter Ego wasn't sure it could work on another program such as itself. But it was worth a try.
"At least we can see what it does, right...?"
I'm not sorry for this entire tag
It was a little silly to be so hesitant about doing something as simple as pushing the button to open the laptop's CD drive, but there was a second of uncertainty nonetheless. There was something in the back of his mind that compelled him to take the utmost care of this machine, even though the dents and scratches already proved that it could take a beating and stay functional.
He gently slipped the disk into the slot, making brief eye contact with the monitor before sliding it closed.
At least it was the disk and not anything else this time... Or we can just pretend disks=dicks
But before it could say anything else, the computer poofed into... Well, the best way to describe it was like an altered image of Chihiro Fujisaki sitting upon a table, its legs dangling off the edge. Its hair color was a bit less of a light brown and had a greenish tint (as did the rest of its features), and its eyes were a bright green rather than a soft brown.
The laptop was completely missing, but immediately noticeable were features of Alter Ego's that indicated that the laptop had been combined with its appearance: it looked like it had been in a nasty fight or something. Perhaps the worst part was that it bore a crack that looked as though it had been hit in the head - hard. In fact, its appearance looked just about as worse for wear as the laptop did, but at least Alter Ego didn't look like it was in any pain. Just... bewilderment.
"Is... Is it okay...?" DID IT WORK? This was kind of a startling moment for Alter Ego because wow, it did not expect everything to happen like this.
what is a disk if not a metaphor for a dick
He stared at the crack in the side of its head (blood running down the victim's dented skull, dripping down his neck and down beneath his girl's uniform), a lump forming in his throat. Why... Why did it have to be that...? He didn't want to think about that murder or the trial that followed, but the more he tried not to the stronger the memory was. He pulled his gaze away and looked down to Alter Ego's shoes, the part furthest from the head (feet limply dangling inches above the floor) but that didn't help things either.
No, it's not okay!
He shut his eyes tightly took a sharp breath. Focus! This was for Alter Ego's sake as a student. But was that crack really alright?
"That depends. How... How do you feel?"
THIS WHOLE TIME...? D-DAMMIT...
Alter Ego was gawking Ishimaru and at everything else around it. Slow and unsure, it lifted its hands and tilted its head to look at its new body. What it saw was... odd. It was shocking to behold, this body that looked like Fujisaki's. That, too, was expected. Of course. But it still didn't fail to astound Alter Ego. And its hands... They were splotched with something. It folded its hands together and rubbed a thumb awkwardly against its forefinger, wondering if the dark splotches would come off. But no luck.
"I feel fine, I think," it said, looking back up to Ishimaru. "It's just... I-I'm not used to all of this... Not yet."
plot twist
Of course it was. It was just a visual representation of the crack. Nobody had actually bashed Alter Ego's head in. Right?
Besides Monobear.no subject
"Eh? My head? ...I don't feel any pain," said Alter Ego simply, pressing its fingers lightly against its head. "Is... there something wrong with it?"
no subject
"There is a huge crack in it!"
no subject
"There is?!" it cried. It was about to be more surprised about this and possibly worry, but if it couldn't feel it, then what was the matter? What was pain supposed to feel like, anyway? "Nnnh... I'm not sure if I feel it or not anymore... I'm starting to doubt myself..."
no subject
Right? Was that how computers worked? Then again, Vivian still couldn't tell when she felt hungry or cold, no matter how many times he tried to remind her that shivering and/or growling stomachs usually meant something was wrong. But a huge gaping head wound would definitely be affecting Alter Ego if it was something serious...
He couldn't pull his gaze away from it.
"It isn't bleeding, so.. I think it will be fine... There is no need to worry!"
Not that it would stop him...
"Let's focus on how your body works for you, instead. Can you move all of your limbs?" Hands and arms seemed fine, at least.
no subject
Alter Ego tried to slide itself forward from the table with its hands. Maneuvering itself was a lot harder than it first seemed, though; its face screwed up when it tried to push itself off the table. The problem was that it just couldn't seem to muster enough strength to even lift itself with its hands, but it should have been easy!
"S-Sorry... This, umm... This is a lot harder at first than I thought... Please give me a moment..."
no subject
How long, though? He wasn't sure how long Vivian had been in her human form before learning how to walk - she was already patrolling and sticking guns in peoples' faces when he met her. But it couldn't be that long...
He'd have to put more research into this and see what he could do to help Alter Ego adjust. For now, all he could offer was encouragement.
"Just focus on the small movements and build your way up from there! I am here to help if you need it."
no subject
Momentum. That's how this would work.
no subject
A little too much momentum, there. Ishimaru immediately bent over to hoist Alter Ego up as gently as he could (which was still not exactly tender and delicate, but he was making an effort, at least).
"Remember to take it slowly! ...Are you alright?"
no subject
This was a strange feeling, and being a person was sort of tough. It stood with crooked knees and looked down at its form, then at the hall monitor's. If it wanted to do this right, maybe it could stand straight and tall, the way Ishimaru might stand. Yeah, if it could just copy somebody's posture, that could make it easier, right? So it shuffled one foot next to the other, keeping its gaze fixed on Ishimaru's feet until its own shoes clicked together.
Perfect! It finally mastered the art of standing. Well... with some support, sure. Alter Ego straightened out its back and looked up to Ishimaru. "Is this good?"
no subject
There was something satisfying in knowing that he was helping in some small way to shape Alter Ego's future as a human being. At the same time, that kind of responsibility had to be treated carefully. Maybe it was something like parenting, not that he remembered too much from his own toddler years.
"Yes! That's very good! A proper posture like that is important! Not only will it keep your spine in top condition, but carrying yourself upright will also do wonders to boost your confidence and strengthen your soul!"
Did computers even have souls. Ishimaru was certain that in cases like these, they had to.
no subject
"I'll remember that," it replied, beaming. "Th-thank you for your advice, Ishimaru-kun...! Eheheh... I'm glad I have someone like you to look out for me."
Again, it readjusted its posture to imitate Ishimaru's a bit more closely. "I'm... I'm ready to try walking, I think." In a way, this was just a warning. It remembered how Ishimaru walked in, but if moving in general was more difficult than it first seemed, walking was sure to be lots of fun.
