Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

Ecolo was farting around campus. And caused a solar eclipse

Okay, no. In reality, he was wandering around campus as usual. Fighting the shadow bugs was fun at first, but now it got very one-pattern that Ecolo was starting to slip into his usual habits: making things worse than it should be.

On July 27th, he would be found doing pranks alongside the shadow bugs, stealing some office supplies to dump a bunch of sticky notes onto an unaware unfortunate innocent being passing by, or shredding good paper into making confetti.

On other days, he would be doing something just as questionable if you were to run into this troublesome shadow.

He's rarely to be seen in his assigned dormitory room, but if you are lucky enough, you'd see a floating shadow nearby BE-13.

7/27 The Stadium : THE SHADOW BUGS HAVE THE SANDBAG

The sandbag is totally office supplies shut up

TODAY, Kumatora decided, was a good day for some training. And what better way to train than to punch a hole through a sandbag and maybe break her own record at the home-run contest. She was there, bright and early that morning, towing a baseball bat in one hand and dragging the sandbag to the platform with the other. What she didn't notice was the ominous purple hue in the sandbag's normally unsuspecting black cartoon eyes as she got everything set up. Setting the bat to one side, she cracked her knuckles and prepared to beat the crap out of the bag. A SWING AND... a miss?!

"The hell?" Kumatora gasped as the sandbag just slid backwards out of the way. Which was impossible. It was a sandbag. It didn't move.

There was a loud plomph noise behind her. She spun around and to her surprise, another had appeared there. Its cartoon eyes were noticeably more purple than the first's, and also looked angrier?

Suddenly, even more sandbags fell from the sky and landed around her, all staring with their angry, dead cartoon eyes. Slowly, Kumatora reached down and picked up the baseball bat. She was going to need it.

Mario had been scrounging around the stadium's storage looking for a sandbag or two to practice on, but they were all gone. When he finally tracked one down, it just got up and ran off!

He chased it outside to the stadium itself, and, uh... That was a lot of sandbags. He couldn't quite see any of the faces on them because they were all huddled up, but as he got closer one whipped around and glared at him with its super angry, purple eyes.

Oh. This didn't look normal. He saw a person between the gaps in the sandbag forest, so he asked, "Uh... These guys didn't-a get a new paint job or nothin', did they?"

Jon Talbain, TD-13, Stadium, around school or the city

Jon is quite happy to kick shadowy buttocks into next week for anyone. Shadow clones, Primids, Monsters. You got it? He'll kick it.

8/1: For some reason, this solar eclipse is having an odd effect on him. He's irritable, grouchy, in all around bad spirits... and can't transform into his Human self. He's stuck as a wolf for 24 hours or so and he's quite unhappy. Dare you try to soothe the savage beast?

8/5: ...what are these? These are sheep, right? Are they sheep? Jon is just going to... casually stalk and hunt and enjoy chasing and being chased by huge mean rams. Sounds like a fun day!

It's... it's an adorable puppy, Jon. Look at this adorable puppy. Just look at him. He's looking at you. You look so big and strong and cool. You're probably really cool. The little adorable puppy whines at you.

Joel doesn't care for the way things are going around here. Pretty different to his own world's 'end', but similar enough that he's in an all around terrible mood.

Find him in his room obsessively cleaning, modifying and assembling ridiculous numbers of firearms. Has he been hoarding them? He's been hoarding them.

Find him in some otherwise empty hallway, plastering holes in the drywall or repairing doors, replacing window latches. Whatever you guys have busted recently, he's probably there helping to get it back up and running again.

In the woodshop room... uh. Do we have chickens, yet? We might have chickens. If we have chickens, they're baby chickens and Joel is maybe feeding them???

8?1: Cue Joel wandering around with a flashlight, a gas mask and a bunch of loaded guns. He doesn't feel safe so you shouldn't either.

Total solar eclipses were... actually kind of a new thing for this place. But Flint had stuff to do, so he wasn't going to let the pitch black stop him from attending his duties.

No, he was going to let the scary gasmask face he almost ran into when he opened one of the supply closets stop him in stead.

"What in the-!?" Flint let out a swear and jumped back at the sight of the heavily armed figure.

Forest Encampment / Guidance Counseling Office / Sex Ed Classroom

As per the norm, Ziio wasn't keen on going out of her way to visit people. She visited when she needed to and as frequently as she needed to. Needless to say that neither were very common. But it wouldn't be difficult to cross paths with the very obvious Native American woman, or to find her caught up in her work.

She was still trying to learn how to be an effective guide. And that was still a complicated situation.

The sudden influx of... cow-like creatures was impossible to ignore. Not because she was wandering, but rather than sleeping outside in the wilderness tended to subject her to an expected array of creatures.

A plethora of animals that looked like a crossbreed of cows and sheep was not what she expected. And while they seemed endearing as they slept, it was hard not to imagine what furs from one would feel like to sleep under. One or two, or more than a few, were inevitably going to find themselves intimately close with a knife.

Or a tomahawk.

Sneaks this in, more towtow hell

It'd been almost two weeks since Desmond woke up in a start, staring into the darkness of Connor's room while trying to process what he had just seen. Wasn't the first time such an experience befell him but this situation was vastly different from his expectations. On occasion Desmond still had moments where the past came to him, showing him the path his ancestors had forged that snuck up to his heels as he moved forward. However what he saw... Well, that couldn't have been the distant past, could it?

In any case, it was troubling him. He went to look for Ziio, sneaking carefully around the sleeping beasts as he needed to in an effort to reach her. There was an uncertainty on what exactly he had planned to say to her, but since he couldn't talk to Connor, maybe she would be easier to confide in.

"Ziio?" Desmond called out to her, not seeing her immediately.

BW-03 (w/ Riwane) / FDC Contest Hall / Greenhouse

[Note: Anytime prior to August, Voile will still be a boy. As of August 01, things will resume as somewhat normalcy.]

Voile had wanted to have a contest at the end of autumn, but with how things were going, it seemed somewhat unlikely. Shadow Bugs weren't exactly defined as 'friendly' or proper for a welcoming atmosphere, and it seemed unlikely that contest dreams would come true. Not that it stopped them from existing. Where there was a will, there was a way, after all.

The days had brought with them a more distant and wistful sort of look. Something far off and nostalgic. And maybe once or twice, Voile had packed things. Temporary? Potentially permanent? There was hardly a way to figure it out objectively.

Like the solar eclipse to come (or having passed), not all things in Voile's rainbow were colourful. If anything, the very same things were disguised by a need for professionalism and preoccupied demeanour.

There was something about the late summer. The days were still warm and the fields and forests green and abuzz with wildlife, but there was a lengthened awkwardness to it, like a dramatic pause in a play that someone coughs over because it had gone on for entirely too long. The scene was going to have to change, whether the actors wanted it to or not.

Lucca had scurried into the contest hall, mostly to get out of the sun and to find a cool place to study. She'd heard that about Voile's thought to put on a contest, but after a week the idea had vanished from the girl-geek's head entirely, replaced by the contents of The Trans-Regional Migration Habits of Pokemon and Their Effects on Regional Antropology, which sits tucked under her arm. It hadn't occurred to her that Voile might be in the empty hall, alone.

The Forest / Tavern / Poisons Class / Kitchens

Things were steadily growing worse, even if no one wanted to say so. If anything, most people didn't want to face things like that and Soryk couldn't blame them. He'd seen enough bloodshed and wars, heard dirty talk of politics, and watched dragons torch and raze grounds that he had to admit it was often easier to try turning a blind eye. Facing hopeless times was not something for the weak of heart.

Azeroth had a lot of weak of heart.

But the worse things got, the more Soryk showed himself. Where he once wanted to keep to his too refined forest fortress, he was interested in spying on what he could, when he could. For his own benefit. For the benefit of the academy. There was more than himself at stake and he supposed at the end of the day, FDC offered him something Azeroth wouldn't.

A naturally calm and composed man, complete with elven grace and etiquette, the day the Shadow Bugs were interrupting his poison research and creation was a day much of that went out the window. The breaking glass and scuffle marks across the floor weren't all his fault, however.

Some of those bugs were just too quick for his daggers. And some of them got impaled on his door, as it to serve as a warning to any who planned on trying to replace his various tools and instruments.

Sonny Moe, BE03 with Little Mac, Caffeteria, around the school in general.

Sonny is currently wearing some bandages because he got stabbed for trying to share his candy with a new kid. That was kind of unpleasant for him, all told, so he may not be in as high a set of spirits as normal. Speaking of spirits...? He's pretty much convinced himself that she was a ghost.

Ghosts that can stab you are about fifty bajillion million trillion quintillion fanillion times more scary even than ghosts who cannibalize themselves in front of you.

STILL you can find him in his dorm, determinedly strumming on that Ukulele of his despite his bandaged hand. Or in the Cafeteria, eating just as much food as normal. He, however, will not be found napping outside or in the halls. No, he's reserving that for his room for the time being.

8/1: He's... just... going to huddle under his blankets with a flashlight and some boxes of cookies and wait for the sun to come out again. That's pretty much it.

8/1 ECLIPSE PARTY

You might not think it by looking at her, but Alorah can be pretty sneaky. She'd always had a knack for slipping through doors, windows, vents, and Light Screens. She wasn't quite so good at it while human, of course, but years of practice had made her pretty confident regardless. Although... tt probably wasn't too smart to sneak up on a stranger, especially not one who'd been very much frightened by a definitely-totally-a-ghost.

Unfortunately, Alorah had no idea where Sonny's injury came from. She only saw a bandaged hand while in the cafeteria one day, and quietly resolved to do something, even if just a teensy weensy tiny little something.

The end result: tiptoeing as quietly as she possibly could, Alorah inched her way into the dorm of one Sunshine Mortimer, an Oran berry pie in her hands. The ominous creaking of the door and the eerie sound of someone shuffling in the dark was probably nothing, Sonny Moe. (Is that the smell of berries and pastry in the air? OR THE SCENT OF IMPENDING BOOGEYMAN DOOM?)

Computer Lab / Around Campus

Stuff is 2 weird 4 Pulse. He knows it has something to do with the shadow bugs, but unless he can put it in scientifically correct terms, he can't wrap his brain around it at all. Logic tells him he should just stay in the Network in case the little electricity-eaters go looking for a snack again. But there are people out there who might need his help, and it's for that sole reason he's chosen not to run away. He's still keeping his senses on high alert for any more purple blobs that might want to make a meal out of him, and as a result has become a bit more jumpy than usual.

7/27: He's probably the only student who has to resort to keeping all his stuff in the computer lab, near the front desk. So whose stack of notebooks is these? It might be someone who shares his classes, now that he thinks about it; they're all for the exact same subjects he's taking, although apparently their owner really likes purple. He's wondering whether he should just put up a bulletin alerting everyone to some lost items, or if he should peek into one of the books to look for some clue as to who they belong to.

8/1: It was still humid outside, but at least he didn't have the sun beating down on him. He was pretty sure there wasn't an eclipse scheduled for today, though. At least not ALL day. They usually only last for a few minutes or so, right? How strange. When he wasn't deep in cyberspace looking for articles on eclipses, he was up on the roof of the student dorms, observing it.

8/5: Most of the day was spent in cyberspace, researching migration patterns of giant purple-pink sheeplike creatures. The rest was spent out on the lawn staring at them. Possibly, some part might end up being spent running from one. Not a big issue for someone so fleet of foot as Pulse, provided he doesn't have someone else around slowing him down. That would just be his luck, wouldn't it?

Congradulations! You're getting creeped on. Garrett can't help but notice how most people are staying inside today, except for this guy, who's up on the roof of all places.

Garrett silently followed him to the rooftops, the convenient total blackout making it easy. After a few moments of observing him observing the sun, he just had to bother the guy:

"Staring at it won't make it magically reappear, you know."

BW-11 and sometimes other places

With the current influx of shadowy monsters, Hilda has taken the matter of training probably a little too seriously. When folks talk about training their Pokemon usually they mean "using them in trainer battles," but she was trying to do everything she could with them. On many days throughout the month she'll be out on the track, in the gym, or wherever with one of her buddies, jogging with him/her, straining to lift weights while her partner excels, trying very hard to beat a Sandbag into submission while her pal decimates one with ease, or maybe one of her Pokemon's moves got out of hand and she's rushing to stop/drop/roll. Or thaw herself out, or dry off, or wash sleepytime spores off of her face, or... You get the picture.

When she's not out and about she's in her dorm, trying to get a head start on her classwork. And by 'getting a head start in her classwork,' I mean 'probably writing letters to her mom or putzing around on the internet.'

On the 27th Hilda's all prepared to go out for a run. She has her good running shoes on and everything, but her first steps out into the student lobby are right into a... Puddle? Is that the fountain from the courtyard? Why is the fountain in the courtyard here.

During August 1st Hilda will be staying indoors and trying to steer clear of any weird junk, because solar eclipses in general were weird enough for her. Of course, since the purple bubbles that had previously been in the sky have descended onto the campus, it's only a matter of time before she stumbles across one and finds herself somewhere else. Maybe somewhere she isn't supposed to be?

Then on August 5, she's totally enamored by the giant sheep on campus. They're just so cute that she wants, like, ten of them. Bright and early in the morning she gets close enough to one that she can scratch it behind the ears and fawn over it like a cute puppy ("who's a good little sheepy guy? you're a good little sheepy guy!"), but...
She's spending most of the day being chased down by one Towtow in particular.

Aug 27th! On the Fountain.

This place never, ever became boring. Even if Kitty constantly berated the place, something crazy was always bound to happen. Sometimes it wasn't too pleasant but at times it was pretty fucking amusing. Like people switching genders, or types, or random things coming to life and being a general nuisance.

This time around Kitty was pretty unaffected and had been walking and floating around having a laugh at some of the random things she encountered. At the moment though, she was taking a sip from a juice box while sitting at the edge of the courtyard fountain when she heard something around. She turned around to check out what it was.

"Hm?"

TD-01: Char and also Rasputin the huge gross spider

Up until August 1, Char's a Venusaur. If you've got business with the pinker, flowerier version of him, that's the time to visit.

If you want him during any of the various events, good luck. He has zero patience for evil spooky office supplies, and a lack of sunlight puts a big-ass fire-type in the sourest of moods. You might have better luck once the Towtow herd shows up. He's the asshole kicking sleeping Towtows.

First venuday

Bulba was quickly coming up on Char's door, a few pairs of pants draped over his arm. It was occurring to him that he really only had a pair or two exclusively for himself after this, since he was lending so many out to folks. That was fine, it wasn't like he was missing them. Even if he was, he wasn't going to skip a begrudged cry for aid because his brother was missing a tail and he didn't feel like starting open butt fashion trends.

And if pants were Char's biggest concern, than whatever fate had befallen him wasn't one Bulba really had to worry about so he could ponder things like that. Or maybe it was just the soothing scent in the hallway that was lulling him that way. Had it always smelled this nice? There was a weird sense of nostalgia to the floral smell, like it was something he already knew but couldn't quite put his finger on.

Had Erika come back because Brock was there? Bulba didn't think it really smelled like anyone from the gym leader's team that he knew, but it could have been someone he didn't know. Or it could have been someone entirely unrelated, which Bulba realized with an uneasy lurch in his stomach would have been the strongly preferred result. Someone new then, he hoped. Too bad about the timing though.

It was just weird how it got stronger and stronger the closer to Char's door he got. They must have gotten one of the room's near him. Huh. No time to dwell on it though, he was there.

Sometimes Mario's in TD-06, actually getting settled and doing boring things like taking his stuff out of boxes. Most of the time, however, he is not. Sometimes he's in the library hitting the books, maybe sometimes he's in the nurse's office filling in and helping out, other times he might be pitching in to fix plumbing and construction work. Man he's Mario he could be anywhere just helping out.

On the morning of July 27th everything is fine and normal, but around lunchtime Mario can be seen chasing after a hoagie that turned purple and ran away. The sandwich leads him into a pile of shadow bugs, and for the rest of the day a shadowy clone of Mario messes up the cafeteria and tries to get punchy with anyone that gets in his way. Anyone that comes across the real Mario while his evil twin is going at it will find him asleep under a water fountain, and he'll wake up at sundown.

When August 1st's eclipse comes around, he'll be walking around outside with a dumb-looking red lamp over his head, trying to light the way for anyone outside. After the nearly-blind run to the Stadium's supply closet to grab it. Besides that he'll be all over the place; business as usual.

On August 5th Mario will be jumping over or on the heads of any Towtows that charge at him. Maybe at one point he rides on one for a little while before it sends him flying into the side of a building.

It's the greatest day

Blue's Room and Elsewhere

There is an adorable Growlithe running around school, sniffing things and being adorable. Sometimes there is also a little boy, running around in sloppy outfits and trying to not fall down, because wow, two legs, what's that supposed to be like.

During the eclipse, he's probably going to feel a little off, as he's a fire-type and this is some sort of inverse Sunny Day.

On some day where the sun is shining, Hilda spots an adorable Growlithe running around school. As much as she wants to tackle it to the ground so that she can pet it and baby talk at it and take it out for walkies, it's probably a student, so she refrains.

But if he approaches her during breakfast, lunch, or dinner and he looks hungry, she's totally giving that little guy some food. Like, half a sandwich.

Kiyotaka [THE AU EDITION]

Yeah, sleeping in the same dorm room he was in when the whole apocalypse began in his universe was a little too weird for Kiyotaka. He took full advantage of the shower, though, and after many a cycle of lathering and rinsing and scrubbing his skin raw he was presentable. Sort of. His old clothes still fit, although weirdly - he had the slightest final burst of growth followed by years of malnutrition - but most of that stayed hidden under a certain old and tattered black jacket anyway.

If not encountered doing things like admiring the greenhouse or binging in the cafeteria or just being glad to see things that are living, perhaps on the 27th he can be found killing as many possessed staplers and paperclips as he can find. He got too relaxed and now it's happening, that is bad. He'll be tracking down that shadow Kraken too, believe it.

On the 28th, he seems a lot more purple and shadowy than he ought to be. Ah. Uh. Maybe he should get that checked out... In the meantime, avoiding him might be a good idea. Or fight him if you dare. Good thing there are absolutely no casualties doomed to happen from all this.

On the 29th, the man who has been displaced from the darkest timeline is no longer anywhere to be found.

THE 28TH

Shadow clones were never hard to identify, between their disconcerting purple-black aura and glowing yellow eyes. For Hajime, they had one more distinguishing feature: the festering little ember of spirit stolen from their victim, a rotting cinder that gave them just enough will to move. He felt ill every time he saw it, the bastardization of an innocent person' s face and fire.

You can imagine, in this circumstance, why he felt fit to draw his sword on this one without hesitation.

He'd gotten lazy, foolish. He'd dared to think that just because the worst hadn't come yet, it couldn't happen now. All it had taken was a moment of his lowering his guard, and now this--this cheap insult had snuck in, its stolen sneer mocking his carelessness.

However, years of experience told him hating himself didn't fix what was done. So only one truly important thing dominated his mind:

"Where is he. "

TD-15 & Weight room & Forge

So there's a Max with four arms in the weight room the almost same amount of time that regular Max is in there. Only... it's harder to do some things with four arms. So, he pretty much had to blacksmith himself a double bar for exercises. But, he liked that. Arm day takes twice as long - blessed mote it be -- but he likes that, too.

So, you know, if you want more of this guy with more of this guy, this is your time to get that.

On the 27th, Max will spend his time in stomping on some purple clipboards that got cloned.

On the 1st, Max will just do what Max usually does, only with less sun.

On the 5th, Max will grapple many a Towtow that gets in his way.

MANUS ARAN; all around (until August 6th)

By now you've probably noticed 1) the smoking new crater in the forest not far from the school and maybe a bright orange mound of scrap metal in the middle of it that might be a space ship if you tilt your head and squint, and 2) mysterious new faculty on the roster named Samus Aran. Except that's not really new.

But he is.

Samus (the dude) doesn't have a dorm so he's essentially playing hobo out in the woods, half living in an abandoned firehouse and half living in his ship. Samus is busy working on said ship, walking here and there--the city, all over the school campus, the forest. Samus still has a bad habit of being mysterious and elusive, but he's here for now (until August 6th) and trying very hard not to mind any heads he might turn as he works on his ship and takes to exploring the locale.

PROMPT IDEAS if you so desire:
- Samus is carrying/dragging noisily across campus a heavy piece of scrap metal that looks physically dubious for someone of his size to be carrying.

- Said scrap metal maybe looks like it came from one of the inoperable, rusting school buses in the parking lot. Maybe you caught him in the act and yeah he just ripped it off with his bare hands. Or is gutting the engine with an uncanny ease.

- That means Samus skulks around the autoshop from time to time. Maybe borrowing tools without permission. Maybe the tools are actually shadow bugs.

- Being a forest hobo means not having instant access to nice hot showers. Guess who's trying to sneak into the gym showers at odd hours when he thinks no one else will be in there.

- He could be in the stadium practicing with his gun; shooting sand bag, or targets, or just mucking around on the stages. Or "practicing" on the the purple Kraken in the lake.

SOME WEIRD HOUR ON THE 27TH

Did you know that forest hobos and apocalypse hobos are likely to have the same weird ideas about showering? Kiyotaka felt too weird to use the one attached to his old dorm, and it was such a small and enclosed space with no room to run or fight that it made him nervous anyway. But he did enjoy the experience of warm water again, and so he took advantage of the communal showers to keep clean. he missed the feeling of being clean, the feeling of hot soapy water running down his back, remembering what colour his skin was under several years' worth of dirt and grime... It was almost enough to forget the dire situation he'd come from.

Sort of. His sword lay against the shower wall within reach, just in case. He had to keep himself especially alert to hear anything over the rush of water, and so might have been a little high strung. It didn't help that it was night, and years of being a sleepless sentry made nightfall instantly put him back into that mode, even here.

What could possibly go wrong if someone else happened to come into the showers right now?

Hajime Tanaka [APOCALYPSE MODE]

Between a proper wash and combing of his hair, a nice fresh oiling of his mechanical arm, and even rifling through his old clothes, he looks practically like a functional human being. A little taller, a little leaner, a lot more boney, but it's still him. It's like a dream, to wear these clothes, and remember that: after all that's happened, he's still himself. At least in this one, small way.

When possible, he's going to be enjoying the outdoors, (the feel of grass, real grass, and actual true sunlight!) or raiding the cafeteria--both stuffing his mouth and trying to take whatever he can back to his room with him. He's a bit easily startled by loud noises, or loud voices. Or someone entering a room, or coming around a corner too fast. Or the lights suddenly turning on, or turning off, or... the point is, he's jumping and twitching and glaring at practically any move you could make.

On the 27th, his twitchiness comes rather in handy, as he's rather quick to pick out whatever unsuspecting appliance has been impersonated. Whoops, sorry about that sword an inch from your hand, but that calculator you were about to pick up is made of darkness parasites. Get behind him, okay, shit's going down and he's not about to let you get hurt. He's going to protect you.

By the 28th, however, he won't be around anymore.

Hajime's sudden decision to grow his hair out was also doing him pretty good. Was he this tall before? He was near to Brown's height while Brown was leaning over the cafeteria wall.

BE-04 & Science Wing

Apple Kid is spending most of his waking hours in studying the effects of the shadow bugs, trying to develop a countermeasure against them. Because of this, most of the time he's in the science wing, or holed up in his dorm, running experiments.

The teleportation bubbles are especially of interest to him. Once those become common, he'll be spending much of his time around them.

7/27 - Apple Kid is running a number of experiments using a variety of instruments on the office supplies. Perhaps you come across him with some alligator clips and a souped-up microscope.

8/1 - Apple Kid has moved to astronomical methods of observation, to see what is happening to cause a solar eclipse for an entire day which, he might add, is not how eclipses work.

7/27 and otherwise: Nyx is perfectly happy to beat the crap out of these shadow bugs, as office supplies or otherwise. She'll offer her assistance to anyone who seems like they need it, or just if she notices a fight going on and thinks it'd be fun to jump in.

8/1: Contrary to how everyone else seems to be reacting to the 24-hour night, Nyx is reveling in this. She's out nearly that entire day, more enthusiastic and cheerful than she is most days. Granted, for most people, this isn't a good thing, as to them, this change in her behavior just means she's actively trying to scare as many people as she can.

8/5: .... Yeah, there's no way she's not agitating some Towtow.

Hajime Tanaka [STANDARD MODE]

After being gone a good portion of the month, Hajime returns with a killer headache and a lot of confusion as to how he's been asleep for like, what, two weeks? Ugh, man, he just feels really sick. When not in his room, BE-10, he'll be trying to warm back up in the gym and field, or in the library.

Of course, he can't fight, so being out and about with monsters around is going to be a risk. He could definitely use some help...

August 1st, however, brings back clarity and determination. Hell no, this will not do. For a huge chunk of the day, he's going to be cheering himself hoarse, trying to work up enough firepower to bring the light back. This is not something one generally can do by themselves. He's going to have an aneurysm if he doesn't get some help. You think I'm joking.

With the sun blacked out Hilda really didn't want to go outside if she could help it. Who knew what was lurking in the shadows, man? But despite that she hated being cooped up in her room, so early in the afternoon she made plans to venture outside.

She... Didn't get far. Someone was doing some intense shouting, and she heard it far enough away that she hung back and watched for a moment. Just to make sure he wasn't going to melt into a puddle of shadow bugs or anything. Once she determined that he probably wasn't going to chase her or try to chew on her C-Gear, she came closer.

To someone who has never witnessed The Power of Cheer before this just looks really absurd. Not to mention dangerous, this guy looks like he's about to pass out, or worse. "Uh... Hey, you okay, dude? You need a glass of water or something...?"

Madotsuki, around campus

On the 27th, a creature with a frog's head will be splashing through the mess left behind by the Kraken. Bet you can't catch her, ha ha! Mammals. Useless.

On the 1st, a brightly glowing lamppost in a skirt can be found scurrying around campus. She likes to jump in the warp zones. All the signs of improved teleportation. Faster. Darker. Angrier.

During the 5th, a fairly normal little girl has cuddled up with the Towtow, nestled into their wool. They don't seem to mind; her presence doesn't seem to register.

If anything, these days are even more enjoyable for Madotsuki than average. She revels in the chaotic and disjointed. She can be found just about anywhere, casually taking it all in without a care in the world.

Kiyotaka [THE NORMAL EDITION]

Much like Hajime, Kiyotaka is also really out of it at the tail end of July and trying to adjust to waking up and finding that it is a few weeks later than he thought it would be. He's also trying to adjust to the feeling of crushing heartbreak he just can't shake, and fuzzy recollections of a long drawn-out nightmare about the end of the world or something. He doesn't know, he's trying not to look too deeply into it. More importantly, he needs to make up for lost time and be productive!

Or not. What the heck is going on with the sky? This isn't right at all. There's not much he can actively do about something like this but he can sure as hell continue to look out the window and worry about what it all means, because... dang. He'll be spending a good chunk of time in the library for this.

Much later than that, and the boy seems to have skipped town. Dang.

Astute observers might notice that Zelda has been absolutely nowhere to be found for...all of July. It's perhaps a little disconcerting. The extra astute might notice that mysterious ninja boy Sheik has been around more than usual, but surely the two events aren't connected.

Sheik works part time for security as usual, but with the strange events picking up pace, she's apparently working overtime and can be found all over the school, stomping out cloned office supplies or testing out those weird portals that are popping up everywhere.

But, you know. Go ahead. Interrupt her.

More crazy shit going on to which, of course, Charlise wasn't surprised. But fuck it all if she was going to fall for this goof around... The last big fuckery has cost her a whole fucking lot so this one she'd play it safe.

If you really wanted to find her, she was going to stay in her room. Maybe you'd catch her looking out the window while sitting on the sill, or maybe even hanging outside her door in the hallway, smoking a quick one before heading back in.

Whatever the case, she was going to stay indoors... where it was safe... Or so she thinks anyways.

Fear not, fellow residents of Smash Academy! Melia will light the way in this eternal darkness! She's made a point to venture all over campus with three glowing orbs floating around her giving off bright light. Each orb happens to be a different element- fire, thunder, and water, and if you're nearby, you suddenly feel a lot stronger. And you're regenerating health.
