Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

"Gotta eat fast, or maybe a charizard will eat it before I'm done," said Jock, who had experience in these matters, as a slice of meatloaf was picked up in his hands and shoved into his mouth.

Hilda looked around for a Charizard and found none. Uh, for now...

"Oh, okay," She nodded, a little preoccupied with trying to remember if she knew how to do the Heimlich Maneuver or not.

"Charrrrizrrrrds chhhhhhhn eeeeeeeeeee aa laaaaaaaaaaa," continued to instruct the little boy as he kept talking with his mouth full of meatloaf.

Oh noooooo nobody told him not to talk with his mouth full-- Uh, wait, she did that all the time.

"Golly, yeah, I bet. So, uh, you know a Charizard?"

He nodded quickly, and swallowed before speaking.

"Yeah, my mama has one! Her name's Sienna! She's real big and orange. That's my favorite color."

[for_truth]

"Ohhh, one of your sisters!"

She resisted the urge to pinch Jock's cheeks, "Orange is a pretty cool color, yeah."

"Best color," said Jock. "Best color. With black as the next best color," he explained sagely, and then shoved the rest of the meatloaf into his face.

He's starting to look a little... queasy.

[for_truth]

"Black is a good color too." Hilda made a concerned frown.

"You okay, guy? You look kinda funny..."

[flamepuppy]

"I just... gotta eat more..." said Jock. "I'll feel better if I eat more."

Jock shoves something (he doesn't even pay attention as to what) in his mouth and does his best to eat more.

[for_truth]

"H-hey, whoa, chill," She said, now taking the final step into downright worried territory. "Your food ain't goin' anywhere, promise."

"No, I gotta," starts Jock, "I gotta... I gotta..."

That look that says 'I'm about to vomit' crosses his face. He slumps over and all of the lunches he just ate find their way onto the floor.

Jock starts to sob.

oh NOW HIS FOOD WAS GOING SOMEWHERE

"Oh no," Hilda says as the pre-vomit face appears on Jock's face. She jumps out of her chair and runs over to a garbage can, but after hurriedly wheeling it halfway across the floor Jock yaks all over the floor. "Oh no... Oh, dude, don't cry, it's cool, I'mma call someone to clean this up and take you to the nurse."

"All the food," he says between sobs, reaching out to the hideous mess on the floor as he sits, deflated, at his seat. "It's not fair, I had all the food."

You had all the food, Jock. And now, now you have none of it.

[for_truth]

She places a consoling hand on his shoulder as she searches her contact list for the nurse. Or janitor. Or someone, please help. "It's all right, dude. There's more food in the world. You can have more whenever you want, just... You might not wanna eat so much at once or you'll, uh... Y'know. You won't feel good."

[flamepuppy]

He reaches down toward it.

"I can... I can put it back in..."

HE'S A DOG, HILDA. STOP HIM. STOP HIM NOW.

[for_truth]

"JOCK NO," Hilda screams in terror and pulls him away.

"If you eat that you're gonna throw it up again, just hang on a sec." She dials a number. "Uh, hello? I-I'm with this little kid and he blew chunks all over the cafeteria and, uh, I dunno what to do and who can I call to help clean it all up? ...'Kay. 'Kay. You got it, Mister, thanks for the help."

She hangs up and turns to Jock. "D-do you feel better or do you wanna go to the nurse?"

He just sobs more, now that you've told him he can't try to eat the things he'd just eaten a few minutes ago.

"I want my maaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaaa," he sobs. "Maaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa."

What a nice time this is for you both.

[for_truth]

"O-okay," She panics as she tries to pick him up, fails because he's too heavy for her puny muscles, and attempts to console him with a hug. Or is she supposed to scratch him behind the ears, or something... "Okay, shh, we'll go find your mama. I just don't think she'd 'preciate me lettin' you eat barf..."

Jock threw himself into her arms and sobbed. "I... I... I... I... my mamaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Man what a fun lunchtime this is for you.

"D...Do you know your mama's phone number?" Hilda asks as she tries petting Jock's head. Please calm down, this would be so much easier if you were a Pokemon and not a people...

This lunchtime will be burned into Hilda's memory for the rest of her days.
