The academy may have been mostly in ruins. The moon may have been falling from the sky. People may have been feeling hopeless.

But life went on nonetheless. That was the point Daisy wanted to make when she busted her butt for the few days before Halloween, gathering up whatever supplies she could to make sure that she and her friends would have at least one night to enjoy themselves. Something to take their minds off of things for at least a little while, and raise everyone's spirits.

The arena projectors actually managed to work, despite flickering a bit, and Daisy was able to program a nice haunted house scene to hold the party in.



She grabbed some snacks from in town, some mood music, and made sure that everyone would have themselves a good time.  Hopefully nothing bad would happen.

What: Watch your heads, cause someone's not watching their steps. There's destruction afoot.

As far as Sundays went, this one was pretty typical, despite the lingering blood moon that persisted well into the morning. If you disregarded that, you could certainly call it lovely. The air held the crisp kiss of autumn's chill, the breeze rustling the fire hued foliage of campus. Eventually the sun's golden rays chased away the moon, bringing with it the deep blue of the sky.

It was entirely possible to forget anything bizarre was happening on such a nice day. Monsters, earthquakes, pssht. Those didn't exist today.

At least not until the first rumble echoed off the edge of campus. And then the next. And the next. And the next. Each one closer, stronger, rattling everything that wasn't fixed in place. The more astute in their panic might have noticed that it was far too rhythmic in its shocks. It was like a heartbeat, or a particularly strong footstep down rickety stairs.

Or perhaps they just noticed that a huge foot had come crashing through the roof of whatever building they happened to be in. Probably a striking detail, that.

The mountains, it seemed, were out for a stroll.



The colossal beast was ambling without a care in the world. The school buildings it was walking over (and through) posed no issue for it. Clearly it was just enjoying the fine Sunday like anyone else would. The mountains it had apparently wandered down from must have looked too boring, or maybe that little wolf thing had been making too much of a racket.

Either way, it was here and it was peacefully walking directly through Smash Academy.

Sometimes... Sometimes people just needed things. Basic necessities, food, clothes, video games... Of course, after the big Angry Birds attack a few days ago, it was likely people needed to replace broken things too. (How did that even happen anyway...)

Whatever the reason, the mall was the place to be.

Lucca's posted reminders about open repairs on Fridays seems to be working. At first, Lucca would quietly slip into the machine shop repair bay alone, with nothing but some uncomfortable-looking tools and her diagnostic equipment and wait for several hours in a darkened room that smelled faintly of coolant and burnt metal.

Now... she's still in the same room, but her increased self-confidence means that she's made the whole deal her own. The lights are ON now, she's commandeered the shop stereo for some light music to chase off the silence, and there are a couple six-packs of e-tanks and oil cans (and yes, even some soda) for refreshments. She's got an assistant now too! (The fact that it's her boyfriend, and they're regularly spending several hours along together, is completely unrelated.)

She's even borrowed a privacy screen from the nurse's office and set it behind the far bench, just in case someone comes in with a part broken off that doesn't normally see daylight. Hey, she's not here to judge, she's here to repair.

With the investigations and newfound monsters around the city, any 'bot could get themselves hurt. Whether you're a patient, a coolant donor, a robot enthusiast or a curious staff member, she'd be happy to say hi.

With all the chaos going on, the people needed something fun to do. Something to take their minds off of the uncertainty and mystery. Luckily, Shantae was ready to provide.

"All right," she said, "today we're going to be revisiting belly dancing. It's been a little while since we tried this, so I want to check on everyone's form and show some new steps!" she explained eagerly. "So, anyone want to start off with a demo of what they learned last time?"

Who: Lucca, Zero
What: Zero uses deus ex machina time travel to discover his past.
Where: The world of 20XX
When: 20XX, around lunchtime.
Warnings: Confusing timelines, drama, temporal rectal pulls, steampunk.

Zero had approached Lucca at the end of prom, and spoke to her. Can she really travel through time? Can she see the future? Change the past? Prevent terrible things from happening to the world, if she could?

Which... of course she would. She's helped to do just that, after all.

Changing the past to alter the future was a dangerous thing... The butterfly effect was a principle that had razor-sharp wings when it came to time travel. According to Gaspar, the overall effect must be beneficial to the time-stream to keep the result from turning into a disaster. But... there was nothing wrong with traveling to the past to look.

Zero had lost his memory, and was suspicious that a terrible war had been his fault. This is the kind of thing that would drive Lucca crazy, herself: not KNOWING. She couldn't possibly not help him.

So, a few weeks later, they agreed to go together to Rock's world and Zero's time to find out. The "where" was first, and Lucca stepped out in the middle of a shiny, futuristic-looking city park from Zero's past that held no clue as to the torment it would endure hundreds of years later. Was that a robotic bird in the trees?

"According to the GPS, this is about a mile away from where it happened..." Lucca tells him, not directly looking at the reploid because she's distracted by the bird.

So Lucca has announced an open maintenance schedule on Friday nights. As promised, she's there at the right time, with a bag full of tools sagging against the workbench and a helmet full of diagnostic protocol and robot schemata.

If you're one of her "patients" or just curious as to what she's up to, you'll find her sitting there with her ankles crossed and propped up on the workbench, nose in a book as always.

Like a plague of Egypt, the swarm returned, as they always had, as they always would. The Cupid Bots were back. The tiny mechanical cherubs whose microchipped arrows caused often unwanted attraction towards the first person you saw, whose very presence caused such pain, misery, and wonderful tragedy to everyone they encountered. They were ever searching. Ever hunting.

They would find you.

And make you make a fool of yourself.

Sometimes a lack of willpower can lead to a good thing. In Lucca's case, she'd gotten into the habit of eating out in the city and buying packaged meals there for the past few weeks. When many in the school started to get sick and she stayed healthy, she realized that maybe she ought to keep it up. It might be just a coincidence, but whatever was going on, she shouldn't change now.

Chihiro had given Lucca a great idea.

Friday morning, Lucca sent a mass text to everyone at the school:

Hey guys! Free food and scary movies in the courtyard tonight! Come in costume! Bring a blanket! Bring a chair! Bring a friend! If you have extra snacks or candy, bring it in too!

And so, in the late afternoon in the crisp fall friday air, she began to set up. By the time night fell, it was all done. Grab n' go snacks were set up on a table, and the projector was ready to go!

Around the time the first stars started to peek from hiding, the show starts. From the looks of it, Lucca collected a melange of cheezy horror movies from absolutely everywhere to show on the broad side of the one of the lecture halls. First The Amazing Mr. X, then Attack of the 30ft. Goombas, then Horrors of Spider Island, then When ReDeads Attack... Again!, then The Brain that Wouldn't Die then Driftblooms from Space, then The Last Man on Earth and Nightmare Castle and so on and so on. Where did she even GET those things? It's a mystery.

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.
