Mystery Smash Theatre!
Who: Lucca and EVERYONE.
What: Pooky movies on a projectah.
Where: The courtyard
When: Evening, Oct 30
Warnings: Scary movies. Stupid movies. Silly movies. BAD movies.
Chihiro had given Lucca a great idea.
Friday morning, Lucca sent a mass text to everyone at the school:
Hey guys! Free food and scary movies in the courtyard tonight! Come in costume! Bring a blanket! Bring a chair! Bring a friend! If you have extra snacks or candy, bring it in too!
And so, in the late afternoon in the crisp fall friday air, she began to set up. By the time night fell, it was all done. Grab n' go snacks were set up on a table, and the projector was ready to go!
Around the time the first stars started to peek from hiding, the show starts. From the looks of it, Lucca collected a melange of cheezy horror movies from absolutely everywhere to show on the broad side of the one of the lecture halls. First The Amazing Mr. X, then Attack of the 30ft. Goombas, then Horrors of Spider Island, then When ReDeads Attack... Again!, then The Brain that Wouldn't Die then Driftblooms from Space, then The Last Man on Earth and Nightmare Castle and so on and so on. Where did she even GET those things? It's a mystery.
[[This is a mingle log, by the way--feel free to bond over bad sci-fi and horror and tag each other to your hearts' contents!]]

The snack table

Except one of the few dances Ziio had looked after involved a large and unruly 'boss' object. She could live without another one of those, but in the mean time she was going to park herself by the table. And keep her eyes on everyone who approached it.
And any kids caught spiking anything were going like to get a sharp wallop upside the head. Maybe. Probably.

"I'm glad to see you here!" Whether Lucca just isn't AWARE that she's playing chaperone or she doesn't care, is hard to tell.
no subject
"Lucca," she greets evenly, just as she does any of her other students, or other people she simply knows. "I came to ensure that nothing about this gets out of hand. I trust you."
I just don't trust most of the other students. And she's not going to say it, but she'll think it until the moon comes crashing down into FDC.
no subject
It's not like it hasn't happened before, but it didn't occur to her that anyone would bother with something like this. Or more specifically, something that she was hosting. It wasn't even a school-sanctioned event.
no subject
Ziio takes a few moments to consider the realistic probability of just such a thing happening. And finally, she gives a nod, as if it's meant to reassure herself more than it is to reassure Lucca. "Students do odd things when they get bored, and there's no better place to do odd things than at a gathering."

No. Drink it in, Ziio. The cheap rubber costumes, the obvious flying strings, the grainy stop-motion, the bad acting. This is art and culture bourne of your future. Savor it.

"They are not meant to be taken seriously then, you mean," seems to be the implication given.

"All the same, I'm sure it'll be entertaining at the very least. Thank you for having me." Not that Lucca can just outright tell her to beat it.
no subject
"Again, thanks for coming! It's gonna be a crazy night!" She adds with a grin.
no subject
"I imagine it will be, yes. If you need any help, I will keep myself available."

Still! At least he was kind enough to contribute. He'd bought a couple of industrial sized bags of Doritos and found some equally large bowls to pour them in to. Also, some six packs of his favorite orange soda. Not to mention a whole pile of apples for the more health conscious students and teachers! (Or just people who liked apples.)
He was there, consuming various bits and pieces and trying not to let his appetite run away on him so that everyone else could have something to nosh on! Feel free to say Hi, join him in a paper plate filled with snackery, or provide him with a hearty trick if you're over treats!

Lucca had finally broken away from the hardware sometime in the middle of The Nefarious Dr. Hax, just to see him.
"Thanks for the apples and everything. I was beginning to think we'd run out of snacks for everyone!"
no subject
He gave Lucca a big wave.
"It's no problem! I'm glad I could help! Thank YOU for organizing this - I think everyone is going to have a lot of fun!"
He offered her a can of soda. They weren't exactly chilled, but they'd been out in the nippy autumn evening air long enough that they were hardly warm, either.

"Maybe I should make this a yearly thing! I only had a coupla days to research what movies to show this time around. I'll find even better stuff to show next year!"
no subject
Hey, it was best to be prepared, right?
"Which one of the movies that you found is your favorite? Or haven't you seen them yet either?"
no subject
no subject
Sonny. What. No.
"I'll let you know what I think of it and which was my favorite when the night is done!"
IT'S TIME FOR ROOMMATES TO ACTUALLY EXIST
OH LORD. There was a face. A nose wrinkle. Eyes pinched.
But it was kind of good. Kind of.
YES EXCELLENT
"Personally I like the barbeque ones better." She adds on the topic of chips. "But whaddiya think?"

and EAT IT.
sorry"Mm..." She swallowed. "Uhm, no. It's good! Did you make these?"
no subject
She thinks. "Maybe I'll grab some extra for our dorm next time! Just don't eat 'em all, okay?"
The Movies
Re: The Movies
Apart from a limited number of early mechanitron-based Japanese classics, of course.
"I'll be there!"
On a blanket, somewhere in back!
So, he's going to take the opportunity to sit on a blanket, wrap up in a blanket to guard against early Fall's chill breezes, and watch some films. Maybe catch some Zs in between loud noises and fast paced action scenes.
....not to mention picking at the snacks he'd brought with him from the table.

Sonny gave her a big wave and shook his head. "Nope! It's not taken at all! You could sit down!"
It had been a while since he'd chatted with her. This should be fun!
"How have you been? Are you enjoying the movies?"
no subject
Which is all for the better, she supposed.
no subject
Well. If they looked TOO real, these movies might be actually scary.

Sonny Moe is officially "Big Guy" in Sonic's vernacular now, I hope he's okay with that. Sonic slurps the soda in his hand and glances at the screen. There are giant grasshoppers on it.
"This... is AWESOME! Hey, you mind if I siddown?"
no subject
He gave a tiny snort and blinked blearily, turning to face the voice. It was his little friend from the other day! His face erupted into a grin.
"No! I don't mind! Take as many seats as you want!" he said, scooting over a little so there was some blanket for the Hedgehog to park on. (It was a big enough blanket for two to sit comfortably.)
"I know! These movies are a lot of fun, huh? And the snacks aren't bad either!"
no subject
He parks his tail on a corner of the blanket. "Oh look look look, the huge grasshoppers are gonna 'overrun' the soldiers again. Psh, it's obvious they just filmed a bunch of bugs and blew it up as a background."
no subject
Sonic must be a pretty cool guy to also like Doritos. At least, in Sonny's estimation.
"I know! And it's so funny when they have to show the grasshoppers close up and you can tell it's just a big rubber puppet and it doesn't even really look like the grasshoppers from these shots." Sonny commented. "Even the colors are different!"
no subject
"So what's the biggest bug you've ever seen? We've got dragonflies back in the jungle that are as big as I am!"
no subject
He sort of mentally measured how big a Scyther would be. He didn't generally read Red's POkedex so a little guestimation was involved.
"They would be at least four and a half feet tall. So, a little taller than you are. Plus? They have huge sickle kind of claws on their arms." He set his hands apart to give Sonic an idea of how long a scyther's scythes were. "They can be pretty tough! They should of made this movie about giant Scythers! Then that guy would really have a reason to be screaming."
Because being whipped in the face by a foam rubber antenna while intense music played was just kind of hilarious.
