Nuts n' bolts
Who: Lucca, damaged robots, nosy onlookers (threadjacking encouraged)
What: August repair log!
Where: Machine shop
When: Friday nights
Warnings: T for TECHNOBABBLE
Lucca's posted reminders about open repairs on Fridays seems to be working. At first, Lucca would quietly slip into the machine shop repair bay alone, with nothing but some uncomfortable-looking tools and her diagnostic equipment and wait for several hours in a darkened room that smelled faintly of coolant and burnt metal.
Now... she's still in the same room, but her increased self-confidence means that she's made the whole deal her own. The lights are ON now, she's commandeered the shop stereo for some light music to chase off the silence, and there are a couple six-packs of e-tanks and oil cans (and yes, even some soda) for refreshments. She's got an assistant now too! (The fact that it's her boyfriend, and they're regularly spending several hours along together, is completely unrelated.)
She's even borrowed a privacy screen from the nurse's office and set it behind the far bench, just in case someone comes in with a part broken off that doesn't normally see daylight. Hey, she's not here to judge, she's here to repair.
With the investigations and newfound monsters around the city, any 'bot could get themselves hurt. Whether you're a patient, a coolant donor, a robot enthusiast or a curious staff member, she'd be happy to say hi.

Before Operating Hours
Of course, spending all this time alone with his girlfriend didn't hurt matters either.
"I think everything's ready," he said, dusting his hands off.

She hops off the table she'd been climbing to reach some high-roosting hand tools, her search successful, and sidles to him with a kiss on the cheek.
"I wanna thank you again, Rock. Seriously, you're the best assistant a girl can ask for." She adds with a silly sideways smile.

Lucca beckons as she sets a strange, glowing widget on a pile with others of its kind. The fact that Ronnae looks pretty organic (not to mention green and pointy-eared) and not a robot at all, doesn't seem to bother the girl. However, it's only after wiping her hands clean and turning back as Ronnae approaches that she recognizes her.
"--Oh hey! You're the new engineering teacher, huh?"

"Yup, new everything really. Just arrived to this place a few weeks ago. Been getting used to it but honestly it's not too bad." Compared to other palces she's been? Tchyeah, not too bad is an understatement. So far.
"I... I s-saw the post and thought m-maybe I could have a look... Maybe h-help if you'd like?" And learn, because you could always always learn new things!

"Uh... couldja do me a favor and check over that generator? Its purpose was to charge up batteries, but I couldn't get it to turn over this morning." She offers, gesturing to the sad bit of machinery in the corner.

Generators, for the most part, had the same basic ideas and schematics behind them so she was pretty happy to help figure out what was needed. Once there, her shy demeanor took a 180 and those watching could see her much more at ease, smiling as she tinkered away, and almost seemed like she was right at home, feeling out the workbench and noting quickly where things were around her.
Tell me it turns into a huge Azarothian mess of pipes and glowey things and and gears. Please. =D
Say, oh, a half-hour later, Lucca stops in mid-drag and happens to glance at the corner again...
Close! But no fel items around here to make it all fiery. But you'll get the nice glows and stuff!
Even still, she looked for more ways to improve upon it!

Rock's voice draw's Lucca's attention as well, and she soon follows after to peer at the machine that is now happily percolating in the corner. Was that meter there before? Where'd she get those Edison bulbs? Is that an antenna?
"It is! Is it... still a generator?" Because, you know, she wanted to establish that first. It's not like the purpose of HER stuff hasn't changed in mid-tune-up before.

"Well... as long as you're careful, I guess you can try it. It'd be a a good test! Just be careful you don't overload, okay?"

But it was as good a time as any. Perhaps they'd have some new parts that he could use for...future reference. Although he'd have to reconstruct those blueprints...
Everything he saw was an old memory, even if it was a part he'd never seen. The machines that had consumed his youth, far more welcoming than any person had or could ever be, cold logic against the ruthlessness of the world...It would have made him sentimental if he hadn't buried those emotions.
At that thought, his hands shook, and he thrust them into his pockets despite the heat.

In any case, Lucca remembers Cyrus. "Oh, uh, hi Mr. Cyrus..." She adds with a wave between calibrations. Her tone is oddly reminiscent of a scuba diver who's just noticed the silhouette of a great white shark darken the reef under them.

"I see you are still here. Time marches on and with it technology...yet even at the rapid pace of recent years there is still a stability to it..."

"...I mean, I never saw any problem with it developing fast in the first place."

Although as she fiddles with her glasses, she wonders just what drew him here in the first place...
"Uh, help yourself to something to drink. There's enough to go around." She adds, awkwardly, not ready to voice the query just yet.

Lucca was nervous, though he sought only to view the lab. Was she keeping a secret? Yet she invited him in. He would have to be especially vigilant.

So she started to make a habit of "borrowing" tools. Eventually Lucca would want to do something about that.

And the Voltimeter. And those calipers... She could have sworn they had more diamond drillbits than this, too.
"Is it me, or are there a lot of little things that are suddenly missing around here?" She asks of no-one in particular, hoping for at least SOME insight.

Better stop her.
