Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

"I can't eat pidgey. I'd lose my trainers license." Jon replied. "Oh, I eat plenty enough, lad. Never you mind. We've an Ursaring called Nancy here who takes fairly good care of that."

He didn't eat nearly as much as some people. But he got his fair share.

"I also hunt game in the woods out back of the school."

...that's where he should be. Taking out his sour mood on all the stupid deer.

"If you were just a pokemon, you could eat pidgies," said Jock. "I have to catch my own dinner when I go camping with my mom. Sometimes Senna gets dinner for me, too, but I like to get it on my own to show that I'm big and strong and I don't need a charizard to get me my dinner. You probably like getting your own dinner better, too."

He paused, and put his head down on the floor.

"We're good friends."

"Aye. Yes. Good friends."

He wasn't surprised by this. Puppies were notoriously easy to befriend. If you couldn't befriend a Puppy, you were clearly Not Quite Right somehow.

"I do prefer to catch my own meals, yes. I enjoy the hunt moreso than the meal most times."

"Well, you can't hunt Blue, or I'd have to, I'd have to stop you," said Jock, yawning deeply. "So don't think about it." His yawn that followed this one was even deeper than the first.

"Remember to fall asleep," said Jock. "It doesn't count if," yawn, "you don't sleep, too."

"I've not hunted Humans for quite some time. She's safe."

Not since his younger years, when he was wilder and more fierce and unable to control his urges even slightly. He'd never killed anyone that hadn't attacked him first, but the hunt... the hunt had been thrilling.

"Never you mind what I do. Concentrate on drifting off yourself and I'm sure I'll follow."

Jock licked wolfman's side, then yawned again.

His eyes closed, and he stopped talking.

His breathing became slow and regular.

I think... yes, he's asleep now.

Alright. OK. Alright. Time to get up veeeeeeeery gently and leave the child to his slumber.

So gently. So very carefully...

...is it going to wake up? Or is it oblivious to the world now that it is napping?

The sleeping puppy bites the fur on your middle with his puppy teeth.

"mmmmgmmggghgggmgmghgghggggmmmmggggghhgghhh," he says sleepily, with a mouthful of your hair in his mouth.

"Bother."

Alright. Fine. He might as well at least try to sleep. Maybe Jock is right and a little nap will improve his mood.

He lay down and closed his eyes and tried to stop his brain from running wild all over the place now that his body had become immobilized by little puppy face.

The adorable puppy let go of his fur and went back to being adorably asleep.

But wait, wait what's that he's moving his paws now and making little tiny adorable noises. He's dreaming about chasing something.

"Active sleeper." Jon muttered, watching his tiny paws move.

"What are you chasing, I wonder?" he asked aloud, doubting he could stir the Pup from his dreams if he tried.

Ratata in the tall grass.

But you probably can't tell.

In a minute or two, he quiets back down and resumes sleeping peacefully.

Jon couldn't tell.

He couldn't tell at all.

But once the Pup quietened down, he DID try to get up again.

He's got your tail in his mouth.

"Oh for crying out loud..."

Fine. Look. He's laying down again. He's laying down and he's really truly going to go to sleep, now. Eyes are closing and he's curled up around the tiny doge child. Good faith effort being made.

...as soon as I drift off the Puppy is going to wake up. That's how this is going to go, isn't it?

Nope, he's going to lie there. Sleeping. With you. In the hallway. Asleep. In a little, adorable ball.

Well. Fine, then.

He's sleeping, now. Dreaming about hunting giant deer in an eternally dark forest and feasting on them with delight.

Cue growling, squirming and grinding of teeth in his restless slumber.

Jock wakes up enough to whine at you. You're being noisy and growling and sad.

"It's okay, you're a good boy, you're a good boy, I like you, shhhhhhhh, be a good boy."

[whirlwind_wolfman]

Now he's wresting with dream sheep. While dream farmers complain loudly about it.

'Oi. That's my sheep, that is! Bloody scabby mongrel, gerrof my sheep! I'm to take it to market on the morrow!' That kind of thing.

"Shant! Mine now." he grumbled, hands twitching and writhing against themselves. "My sheep, now."

Jock whimpers and licks Jon's chest several times.

"You're a good boy!" he whines loudly. "You're a very good boy! You need to be a very good boy! You need to be a happy, sunshine boy! Your mama loves you! I love you! Be a happy, soft, sunshine boy! You can be a good boy if you try hard!"

[whirlwind_wolfman]

Happy soft sunshine boy?

Some of this filtered through and Jon's eyes fluttered open for a moment. His claws dragged grooves through the carpet and he snorted and sneezed, jolting himself awake.

"You what?" he mumbled before licking his teeth. Agh. He was hungry, now. He'd been looking forward to eating those sheep. All of them. Every one of them.

Jock licked Jon's stomach several more times from where he was positioned next to his side.

"You can be a happy, soft, sunshine boy if you try hard! Such a good boy!" cheered Jock. "Don't be grumpy when you sleep! Be a good boy!"

[whirlwind_wolfman]

"I can't help what I dream, now can I?"

Still. Jon returned the grooming, licking the boy's head floof into something resembling his own mane.

"What were you dreaming about, then?"

"If you think nice things before you go to bed, you have nicer dreams. When my mama sings me songs before going to bed, I have really nice dreams," explained the pup.

"I was dreaming about chasing a ratata in a field of tall grass. It was fun to run after it. I was, I was going to catch it, I bet."

[whirlwind_wolfman]

"I'm sure you would have. I was thinking about hunting too. Big deer. Bigger than me. Building sized deer. Ah, deer are creatures from my world. Like Stantler but with less flappy cheeks, no... beaks and no ability to put you to sleep."

Stantler were just weird looking deer. He was more partial to the looks of Sawsbuck. More... sensible in appearance. More leafy. But sensible.

"So, what songs does your Mama sing you, then? Like... Lullabies? Or what?"
