Dorm Log
Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES
We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!
Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.
And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?
Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?
If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.
-------
7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.
Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.
8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.
For reference, here are the rooming arrangements.

8/1 ECLIPSE PARTY
Unfortunately, Alorah had no idea where Sonny's injury came from. She only saw a bandaged hand while in the cafeteria one day, and quietly resolved to do something, even if just a teensy weensy tiny little something.
The end result: tiptoeing as quietly as she possibly could, Alorah inched her way into the dorm of one Sunshine Mortimer, an Oran berry pie in her hands. The ominous creaking of the door and the eerie sound of someone shuffling in the dark was probably nothing, Sonny Moe. (Is that the smell of berries and pastry in the air? OR THE SCENT OF IMPENDING BOOGEYMAN DOOM?)
Re: 8/1 ECLIPSE PARTY
But having said that, Sonny took the tiniest peek out from underneath his blanket and ducked back under post-haste. He wasn't able to see very well in the dark, after all. He could have aimed the flashlight at the approaching noise and smell... he could have done that. But what if it was that little ghost girl again and the flashlight made her even more mad than trying to offer her candy had?
"I promise I'm not going to try and give you anything to eat! I really promise! Please don't stab me!?"
no subject
Alorah froze, alarmed that she'd not only been spotted, but that her appearance had upset Sonny so badly. It wasn't as thought she minded terribly if Sonny Moe shared his snacks with her or not, but stab him?
"Oh! No!! Nothing like that!" Alorah squeaked, quite nearly dropping the pie. "I'm sorry for scaring you, but I would never do anything like that! I promise!"
Timidly, she held out the pie, hoping that even if it was a bit too dark in here to see it all that clearly, he might be able to smell it or sense the lingering heat or activate his Pastry Senses or something. "I, um... I'm sorry, I know it's weird, but I just... thought you might want a snack...? But if I've scared you, I'll go!"
no subject
If she'd scared him, she'd go? That didn't sound like the same ghost. That didn't sound remotely scary.
....and that pie smell.
"Wait!" he said, peering out again, this time with his flashlight. The beam swept the room quickly, finally finding Alorah. And Sonny Moe's relief was palpable.
"I'm so sorry! I thought you were... someone else." he offered lamely.
no subject
It might have just been her, but she was starting to suspect that his hand hadn't gotten injured in an accident.
She took a few steps forward, holding the pie out to him.
"Um... I saw your hand was hurt, so I thought, um... well, I thought a treat might make you feel a little better. If you're not hungry, then that's fine."
no subject
"Thanks a lot for the pie! That's really super nice of you, Alorah. I could kind of use a pick-me-up today! It's weird how the sun won't come out, huh?"
He managed a smile, even though she might not be able to see it in the dark. "Now that someone else is here, probably we should turn on the light, huh?"
no subject
"...I do miss the sun, though." What grass-type wouldn't, though? Alorah set the pie down in front of Sonny Moe and sat down next to him. "But how have you been? Has everything been okay?"
no subject
"There!" he said once he'd taken the flashlight out of his mouth and turned it off. "Now we can see a little better! Um... I've been OK? Kind of? I mean, mostly things are OK. But I met a ghost in the halls the other day." He shuddered. "She looked like a little girl and I tried to give her some candy and offered to help her find her dorm and stuff? But instead she stabbed me. That's why my hand is bundled up."
He opened a desk drawer and pulled out a couple of clean forks. "Would you like to share some pie?"
no subject
Especially since it sounded like Sonny'd really had an awful scare. Alorah knew that there were some ghost Pokemon at the school, but a little girl...? "That whole encounter sounds like an awful experience! You were only trying to be nice, and then something that horrible happened... it doesn't still hurt, does it? You poor thing."
no subject
Which was almost scarier than the knife part. Almost.
"But anyway, enough talking about ghosts! How have you been? Have you been OK with all the weird stuff going on at school?" Hopefully no Shadow Clones of Gold had showed up to give her a hard time!
no subject
"I've been just fine! I might not look it, but I'm quick, so those awful shadow things can't catch me most of the time." Of course, not being able to leave the city or get in touch with Gold back in Johto was a bit of a problem, but it was better that he be safe back at home than here where all this fishy business was happening. "I just hope things don't get any worse!"
no subject
"I'm glad you're able to stay safe! Most of the monsters are just little and annoying. I try to help people with them as much as I can. I should give you my cell phone number so if you ever wind up not actually being able to get away, you could let me know and I could come and help you out!"
Sonny, likewise, wasn't able to get in contact with Pallet town. But he knew that a lot of his team was there with Red's Mom, not to mention all the Pokémon at Oak's Lab. Pallet town was in good hands, talons, vines, claws, flippers, goo... limbs.
no subject
Now that Sonny Moe had dug in, she let herself try a forkful. (Hm, not bad!) Once her mouth was no longer ful -- always be ladylike, after all -- she smiled and nodded. "Oh, would you? I'd feel so much better if I had a friend I could call. I might not be very good at fighting, but I could help you out too, if you wanted! For instance, I... oh! Why didn't I think of it sooner? It's not as good as a Heal Pulse or anything, but I can heal a little bit."
She hadn't really used Grassy Terrain much since she'd learned it, so it had slipped her mind, but she ought to have mentioned that right from the get-go!
no subject
"Oh! You have a healing move?" Sonny asked, surprised. Red's team was kind of short on healing moves, especially since Rest was no longer in his battle repertoire.
"If you think you could do something for it, I'd be really, really grateful!"
no subject
With that little bit of reassurance, Alorah closed her eyes. The quiet little hum of life inside her pushed itself into a crescendo, reaching out for even the tiniest little whisper of greenery. It took her a moment to build up enough oomph to pull it off, but once she did, the effect was startlingly quick: a lush green carpet of grass sprang up around them, releasing life-giving energy like Leech Seeds rooted to the earth itself.
Grassy Terrain wasn't as discriminate as some other healing moves: anything that touched the ground would feel its life-giving effects, which made it far more temporary and weak than something like Aqua Ring or Softboiled. But this, at least, was something Alorah could do for Sonny.
no subject
He'd never seen this move, or any of the terrain changing moves that were coming into vogue recently. The drawbacks of not having your trainer around, probably.
"I had no idea that a move like this even existed!" he said, running a hand gently over the blades, almost as though he was afraid to bruise them. Hey, he'd lay down and snooze on anyone's lawn, but this was the first time anyone had grown a lawn especially for his benefit. He was touched.
He grinned broadly at her. "Hey, thank you so, so much!! I actually feel better already! It's really revitalizing - I bet Vinnie would love to see this move some day, too!"
