Dorm Log: Scorching Summer Edition

What: Dorm log!
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. Frankly? I don't care where. Go have fun, kids.
When: The span of June 14 - June 28th. Pick a date.
Warnings: Yeah, it got pretty naughty in here.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Stay up all night watching reruns of Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles? Break out the ice cream and industrial fans to beat the heat? Get a bad suntan while you're asleep with the help of your friends? Whatever you get your bad self up to. Your good self is welcome, too. That was a surefire way to get her to be serious. She even straightened her posture a bit and after a moment's consideration, she nodded. "I hear you, and I agree. While it's true things may be a mite better than they were when the town went awry..."

She shook her head, "It's troublesome. I've not made much in the way of progress, admittedly." Between her injury and Innes wanting her to keep out of trouble, Eirika hadn't gone very far at all.

"It's not that, it's just..."

She shook her head. "Doctor Eggman is not what he seems. He never is. And whatever he's planned for the city, it can't be good."

"Prince Innes seemed to think the same thing," Eirika agreed with a small nod. "He said he thought there was something else going on other than simply Eggman and the..."

She had to think of the word before she could continue. "Robots." Then she tapped at her chin with some thought. "He doesn't seem to think there's a way to get through this without force."

"I don't believe that," Blaze said, getting up. "I can't believe violence is the way! I would never--" She stopped herself. She was getting far too passionate. She caught herself and, more calmly, explained, "Eggman is making things far worse. And there's no way he isn't up to something. He's tried to conquer this world and my world too many times for me to believe his intentions are noble. There must be a peaceful solution to this."

Renais' princess was very patient when she heard Blaze. Partially because watching the cat creature get so twisted up over force was like watching herself. Was that how she sounded when she so blatantly told Connor she'd find a way to lead her people without her sword?

Did she seem at all uncompromising? Was she really ready to be a queen? Just listening to Blaze made her question many things.

"He has attempted something of this magnitude before?" Eirika asked with interest. "Here?"

"He has. On MUCH larger scales," she explained. "And yes, even here. Once he built a giant amusement park in space as a front to build a mind-controlling ray. And then he used a machine that could unravel space and time to try and remake the world in his image."

"Has he now..." Eirika murmured under her breath with some consideration. Connor would be interested to know of it. Innes, too. It seemed like they did have something to look into.

"How did you stop him before? And why would he be given the authority to have such power? Do you know who gave it to him?"

"He was stopped before by the people here, fighting together against him. I don't know how he could have been given this kind of authority legitimately. He claims the mayor authorized this, but why the mayor would do such a thing..." She shook her head. "It's beyond me."

"So it was the mayor. By his claims."

Fingering her chin, she looked aside momentarily. "Does this man have any weaknesses, Princess? Anything we can use against him? To thwart a man from power, you must usurp his throne. Has he any vulnerabilities?"

"His biggest weakness is his ego. It's very easily bruised," she explained.

Eirika sighed, "His ego. You can insult any man's ego, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll fall in the trap." Folding her arms across her chest, she found herself looking back to Blaze. "There's nothing more concrete than that? I can't see mocking his ego really being the convenient way to handle the situation. If it were, then he would have been toppled by now."

"Believe me, he would," Blaze replied. "There's little he truly cares about," she added. "The only person I've seen him truly get close to is Madam Flurrie, though I couldn't tell you what she sees in him..."

Her expression changed when she heard what Blaze had to say. There was some hesitance, but a lot of it was interest. "Madam Flurrie..." But to exploit a person for the sake of getting to someone, even a bad someone... It sounded very dishonourable.

She could almost hear Connor disapproving of the notion. Innes probably would have gone along with it, though. "She's important to him then. Do you think he responds to bartering well? If this woman were to be involved?"

Blaze looked hesitantly at Eirika, head tilted. "Honestly? He might. He might also escalate his actions to secure her safety. That being said, I don't approve of endangering innocents to get to the guilty. Not even Eggman."

She lifted her right hand, "Don't assume. I didn't say we should endanger her. If I did anything like that, I'd be no better than the man who led the invasion against my kingdom. Even the allies of my enemies are deserving of compassion."

Straightening her posture, it really occurred to her that this could be the one time she could prove herself. She could be the woman she claimed to be. She could be the princess worthy of her crown. And best of all, she could still be herself. "I won't believe she isn't a woman of some logic. We can appeal to her better sense. She is the one who will have sway and influence over him."

Setting her left hand over the hilt of her sword, she adopted a prouder stance, "I am a woman of diplomacy before one of force. I do not need to rely on hot steel to be victorious. I think I have a plan."

Blaze perked up at that suggestion. That could actually work...

"That is quite a sound idea... I only hope she's willing to listen to reason," Blaze suggested.

It was underhanded was what it was. But it was clever and on the inside, Eirika was a little proud of herself for just such an accomplishment.

"She's an instructor, isn't she? Like Eggman, I mean. How close are they, Princess?"

Blaze rested a hand on her face, partially out of exasperation at what she had to explain, partially at the embarrassment of even thinking about the implications of it. "They're... engaged to be married."

Eirika blatantly paused when Blaze continued. Really? Truly? By choice? Well, obviously by choice. Had to have been. She hoped it was. And she found herself echoing some words that had been spoken to her regarding Innes's claim over her as his queen.

"Surely... he is not forcing her to wed him...?"

"I thought so at first, but no," Blaze sighed. "For some unfathomable reason, she's attracted to him."

"At least it is by her desire," Eirika nodded. "Better for us that way, as well. For otherwise, she may not be so willing to assist us."

Tapping at her chin, her gaze grew slightly distant as the gears in her head began to turn, in hopes of formulating a plan. "What do you know of her? Where she stays habitually. Her position at this academy. I should like very much to seek her out."

"Admittedly not much," Blaze explained. "She teaches drama. And from what I've seen of her, she's very... dramatic... herself. Something of a diva." Her arms crossed. "I don't know much more than that, sorry."

The princess smiled and she shook her head at Blaze. "No. You have no need to apologise. Your information has been immensely useful." With a more confident expression, her posture straightened. "I think it is time that we began a revolution and it will all start with Lady Flurrie. When the time comes, I hope you will lend your assistance to my cause."

"You will have it," Blaze promised. Thwarting Eggman's plans was a cause Blaze could get behind any day.

A little more pleased, Eirika nodded. "Good. I think you will be very crucial to all of this." She pointed to herself as she continued, "I'll exchange some diplomatic words with our Lady Diva. It may seem a little underhanded to control Eggman through her, but our motives are pure."

Because of course she needed to justify herself. The action in itself of deception really wasn't very princess-like.

"Regardless of how that goes, I intend to publicly confront him. We must lead by example. If too many think we are intimidated to speak out, then we cannot unify ideals. I have spent much time working in the shadows and under guises. I feel for this occasion, we shall be as swords."
