Dorm Log: Scorching Summer Edition

Who: Who else.
What: Dorm log!
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. Frankly? I don't care where. Go have fun, kids.
When: The span of June 14 - June 28th. Pick a date.
Warnings: Yeah, it got pretty naughty in here.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Stay up all night watching reruns of Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles? Break out the ice cream and industrial fans to beat the heat? Get a bad suntan while you're asleep with the help of your friends? Whatever you get your bad self up to. Your good self is welcome, too. Now put your copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf down for one second and tag this thing!

Alter Ego • AE09 (Computer Lab)

[personal profile] numbercrunching 2013-06-15 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Somebody around here seems to have gone missing for a time - at least, to people paying attention. After prom, Alter Ego met with a terrible fate and ended up in the repair queue. He's a program, so it was fortunate that he was able to be recovered (this particular program was rather durable).

The strange thing is that the computer Alter Ego arrived in can no longer be found in the computer lab. In its place is a small device that looks like... a portable gaming system? The device looks eerily like a DS, but this is no gaming device. It's possible to mistaken it for such, though.

Alter Ego just so happened to be one of the people-- er, personalities that Byakuya was interested in talking to upon his arrival to the school. He lamented the AI's absence, but it only made finally finding that little dual screen device in the computer lab that much more satisfying. He approached it with curiosity. Had he finally found it?

"Alter Ego," he called out, just loud enough for a possible voice recognition function to hear him, but not so loud that someone walking by the computer lab would think that Byakuya was talking to himself.

Upon the top screen of the small system flickered Alter Ego's face, blinking at the room. It was lucky that this system still had a camera, mic, and speaker system - or else his performance would be greatly diminished.

When he noticed that it was Byakuya in the room, Alter Ego appeared shocked. "Ah- Togami-kun," he responded from the small screen. "Hello..."

Wow, it worked. He approached the device and picked it up, peering at the image of Chihiro's face on the tiny screen.

"I found you," he said, allowing the small sense of triumph to be audible in his voice, "Where's your laptop?"

"Oh, it's..."

Alter Ego was just about to answer until he thought about it for a moment. Wouldn't Togami remember him without the laptop...? The laptop was crushed during that one time - it was still surprising to Alter Ego that it stuck around for long enough to appear at this school. Now it was gone for good. Did that mean that Togami didn't remember the final trial? It seemed he'd just have to figure that out for himself.

"...It was destroyed. Somebody kindly restored me into this device, though I don't know what it is. It feels small."

For Alter Ego not to operate on a computer system was something new to Byakuya, though he remembered the original laptop's destruction at the hands of Monobear well-- it wasn't going to be something he could easily forget, probably for the rest of his life.

"So, this is how you came to the school, after..." He trailed off. "Who put you in this?"

"His name is Naoya," he replied, donning a small smile. "Since the old laptop I was in was destroyed... He assisted me and put me in here. But I remember the data stored in the old laptop, and I have access to all of the memories I created during the events of the school."

He felt the need to clarify that the laptop was destroyed not only once, but twice, but maybe it wasn't necessary. Still... that ordeal with Copy X was one Alter Ego couldn't forget. It even made him hesitant to walk around anymore, for fear that he would have more perplexing and dangerous encounters. And that he'd have to feel more excruciating pain like that.

"As for how I actually came to the school... No, it had nothing to do with this device," he clarified, making eye contact with Byakuya. "It's more like... I found myself here by accident. I don't know exactly how it happened, but it happened a few months ago... I've been here for a while."

Byakuya carried the AI over to a nearby swivel chair, taking a seat and crossing his legs with the device in his lap. He folded his hands over his chest, and pondered on what Alter Ego had said.

"And the last thing you remember about Hope's Peak... maybe saving Naegi?"

"Well, something like that," said Alter Ego, thinking over what Byakuya prompted of him. "Actually, from your perspective... I think that is accurate enough. But I remember more than that. I got to watch you leave, after all..."

Maybe that was enough to explain where he was coming from. He thought so, anyway.
richasshole: (two seconds of my attention)

[personal profile] richasshole 2013-07-09 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I see," Byakuya replied, "Though I suppose I still don't fully understand. You appearing here can't be any stranger than students coming back from the dead, though..."

"Maybe you're right about that..." It was a strange occurrence, to see people you once thought were dead and gone to be animated just as they used to be. But somehow, it was believable to the AI. There wasn't anything that he would find too surprising. Maybe it wasn't in his capabilities.

"Still, somehow, we're here. I've been searching for answers about this place ever since I arrived... What I've learned is that Final Destination City brings people here whether they want to be here or not, on some reported occasions. And this includes the dead..." Whatever kind of force could do something like that seemed impossible, but it was happening nonetheless. The network posts detailing incidents where students and faculty arrived against their will and without explanation was enough to say that this was no ordinary place.
richasshole: (are you paying attention??)

He tried not to betray just how much the idea unsettled him, but at the same time, there was a spark of excitement. If everyone dead was fair game, what if his family really was somewhere to be found in this city? Was he being foolish for even considering it?

"I see... so this doesn't just apply to former students of Hope's Peak."

"Certainly not," replied Alter Ego, shaking his head. "It's not just those from our academy that show up here without intention, but many others. And some seem to have been revived from the dead."

Alter Ego cocked his head. "It's a puzzle, but maybe one that just can't be solved... Something beyond reason, maybe."

OMG VIDEO GAME.

And somebody just... left it here.

Weeeelllll.... surely they wouldn't mind if Skull Kid just played with it a little, right?

He glances around to make sure nobody was watching before snatching up the device and flicking it open.

And to greet Skull Kid was the face of Alter Ego on the top screen, and a menu similar to this on the lower screen. Alter Ego blinks, dazed.

"Huh...?" He doesn't recognize this person. What was going on?

Skull Kid had never seen a game like this before. There was only some girl's face on the top screen. Was it an RPG? Without responding, he started poking at the bottom screen.

"This is a weird game." He muttered as he randomly pushed buttons and shook the device.

"Ah- excuse me," tried Alter Ego, eyes widening. "I'm not a game...!"

This was dizzying, being picked up and shaken like that. Alter Ego tried to keep focused on the mysterious holder of the device. Would he listen to him? Alter Ego hoped so.

"Huh?" Skull Kid stopped waving the thing around and looked at the face on the screen. "Are you talking to me? For real?"

Video games sure have gotten more interactive!

"Mhmm," confirmed Alter Ego, nodding. "I'm not a game... I'm a student here. I know, it probably looks like this is a game... But I don't think it is, since I'm in here..."

Although, Alter Ego hadn't actually been given the ability to view the device himself. All he knew was that it seemed much smaller than a laptop.
