Dorm Log: Scorching Summer Edition

Who: Who else.
What: Dorm log!
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus. Frankly? I don't care where. Go have fun, kids.
When: The span of June 14 - June 28th. Pick a date.
Warnings: Yeah, it got pretty naughty in here.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Whatever you want. It can all be yours if you make a thread. Stay up all night watching reruns of Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles? Break out the ice cream and industrial fans to beat the heat? Get a bad suntan while you're asleep with the help of your friends? Whatever you get your bad self up to. Your good self is welcome, too. Now put your copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf down for one second and tag this thing!

Don't think for one second Cress didn't notice you, Proton!! At first, Proton was treated as just a regular old passerby. It wasn't uncommon for others to take a detour through the stadium. When his presence kept sticking around, Cress would sneak furtive glances and couldn't help but pick up on that feeling of being watched.

So did his Pokemon, naturally; they were far more interesting to behold, especially in action, shooting down targets with jets of water or diving through the hoop course Cress set up in the pool he'd summoned from the control panel. Panpour and Basculin were far more agile and acrobatic than Slowpoke, who received much attention and instruction from Cress due to being the newest addition to his team, but the water-type specialist was beginning to find that Slowpoke wasn't very good at... not spacing off. So he spent a lot of time trying to find ways to engage the dopey Pokemon into wanting to train. While it was pretty clear that Cress was a hardworking and dedicated trainer, he also seemed like he could use some refinement here and there. He seemed like his heart was in the right place, if a sad heart.

It was embarrassing to have Slowpoke be so dissident in front of someone. If he was going to make a show of training his Pokemon, he at least wanted it to be running smoothly... Cress tried a new reward-based tactic with food as the objective, but even when Slowpoke got excited about the treat at the end of the hoop course, he somehow managed to forget everything in favor of lazing about at the bottom of the pool. Cress decided to cut it short so he could mentally and emotionally recharge, recalling Basculin and sighing. He felt so exhausted in every way. Panpour followed along with much more bounce in his step as Cress made his way over to the stands, taking a seat somewhere within earshot of Proton. He knew what he must be thinking.

"It's a bit more difficult than I imagined, training a Pokemon with such a short attention span..."

Proton couldn't help but snort at Cress' attempts to train his Slowpoke. He could tell Cress was at least a decent trainer because of how his other Pokemon reacted to him, and for that he was begrudgingly impressed. But Cress could be the best trainer in the world with the most heart and Proton would still doubt he or anyone could properly train a Slowpoke unless it was evolved. Or so he thought because he had tried with his own and given up a hot second later. He didn't have nearly enough patience to deal with it.

He reclined back in the stands with his hands behind his head. He was still most curious about the Unova mon, but he figured he could humor the trainer since that was obviously - maybe - directed at him.

"Well, yeah. They're called dopey Pokemon for a reason. Of course they'd be a pain in the ass. Kudos for trying."

i swear i can be succinct!!

He hadn't even been sure that this man knew much about Pokemon, but his response, while a mite rude, cleared his doubts away. At least he could freely talk about Pokemon without having to explain the essentials every step of the way.

"Admittedly, the only knowledge I had prior to training such a Pokemon was found buried in guides and textbooks," he replied sedately. "It wasn't long ago that I found this Slowpoke, so naturally..." Cress twisted his head around to face Proton and ask, "Have you any experience with Slowpoke?"
youmayhavewon: (✂ it doesnt matter where we go)

ok ok i believe you

Urk. Proton avoided looking Cress in the eyes while he mulled over his answer. To lie or not to lie. That was the mild dilemma. It's not like admitting he had a Slowpoke would be a dead giveaway to who he was. But if Cress asked to see it or something, the cut tail would certainly be suspicious. Proton clicked his tongue then; bah, he was sure he could bullshit it somehow.

"I guess you could say that." He replied somewhat noncommittally. "I mean, yeah, I've got one of my own but it's doesn't battle."

It just sleeps in his sink and gets in the way.
makesitcool: (That was an unexpected move...)

"Oh, I see," replied Cress passively, averting his own eyes to focus on Panpour. Panpour, however, had its "shut" eyes trained on Proton, almost unsettlingly. "Making an assumption based on your earlier comment, you must have made an attempt, but found it similarly frustrating. That is, unless you keep Pokemon solely as companions."
youmayhavewon: (✂ you want to make me angry)

"Er, I didn't use to. But I'm not as interested in training or battling now, so ..." He trailed off, crossing his arms over his chest. Why was that thing looking at him that way? Jeebs, it was giving him the creeps.

Proton cleared his throat. "Anyway. Hows about yourself? Trainer?" He pointed to the Panpour. "Never seen anything like that before; where's it come from?"

"Oh! You must come from a place far from Unova, then," observed Cress. "This is Panpour." As if on cue, the aquatic monkey removed itself from his lap to climb on top of his shoulder, giving Proton a better view. "I, Cress, am indeed a trainer who specializes in water-types, like Panpour here."
