Pokemon! Genie! Kanto? It's a thing that's happening!
Who: Shantae and Sonny Moe!
What: Kanto Adventures!
Where: Kanto! You know! The place where everyone wants to be the very best like no-one ever was!
When: Mid June
Warnings: Pokémon Battle Shenanigans
Music: You know which music you need to listen to.

The train ride from FDC was always pretty pleasant. The scenery was nice and it was a fairly long ride which allowed time for both gazing out the window at things flying by and also napping. Sonny, of course, insisted it was his treat whenever the snack trolley rolled past. The snack lady on the train had never made so much in one shift before...
...anyway. Kanto in Summertime is a wonderful place. The sun is shining, the Pidgey are Shin--er, singing, the Rattata are looking at their masses of squabbling children and regretting each and every life choice that led them to this moment. Today, they are joined by a portly, young, blue haired gentleman and his beautiful purple haired companion who just so happens to be a Genie.
"So! This is Pallet!" he said, turning to her and grinning. "I know it doesn't look like much, but it's a great place!"

"OK, so, um, fly to your left, OK? Turn East - I thiiiink you should be able to see the ocean if you go high enough? Because we're going to need to cross a bit of ocean. So...."
Not ideal setting-down-to-rest territory.

She flew in the direction he indicated, carrying Sonny as far as her harpy talons could carry him, before setting down in a clearing to rest for the next leg of the trip. "At least we're making good time... How much further is it?"
no subject
"OK. So. See waaaaaay out there? That thing out over the water? That's Cycling Road. That should be our next stop, OK? It's a further flight but it's the next place we CAN stop. Then from there, we can see how far we have left. It's hard to figure it out this way because normally you'd approach the place from the North, not the West."
no subject
When she was rested up enough, she flapped her wings to take off again, grabbing holf of Sonny and lifting off towards the Cycling Road. "This might be a lot easier if we had a map," she said.
no subject
The water underneath them was very blue and deep looking. You could still see the little red points of light that were Tentacool and every so often a larger, darker shape moving underneath that signified Here Be Gyarados.
"..Just a little further!"
It wasn't, really. It as kind of a long way.

no subject
"Here - are you hungry? Will this help? Probably I would of grabbed some water too if I'd known we were going to be travelling this far."
no subject
no subject
"That's OK! Take as long as you need - we're going to get there waaaaaay earlier than they do either way." he reassured her. He flopped down in the grass beside the bike path and took a deep breath.
"Mmm - smell that sea air! We could get sushi once we're done beating all the Rockets in the city?"
no subject
She took a deep breath, smiling. "Ah... The sea air reminds me of home," she added. "It feels so good... You know what I like--"
"HOLD IT!" came a voice from the nearby bike trail. Skidding to a stop nearby was a big muscular bald guy, riding a bicycle, and wearing a torn leather jacket. "You don't ride this trail without having a Pokemon battle!" he declared, plucking a Pokeball off of his belt.
Shantae blinked, turning to Sonny. "Um... What's this all about?" she asked.
no subject
Sonny had kind of forgotten the whole deal with this place.
"If a Trainer makes eye contact with us? We have to battle them. On cycling road, it's the same thing except its usually cyclists. They don't even normally let people on without a bike, haha!"
They'd entered by way of unconventional means, after all.
"You want to do this battle? Or I could do it again if you want?"
no subject
"Uh, that's just how things work?" he asked, scratching his head.
Shantae sighed, rubbing her temple. "I'm too tired from flying all this way, so if we have to fight, you can do it."
no subject
"LAAAX!"
Bring forth your Koffing, O' Biker. Give to me your Muk. Or is it a Mankey you're about to offer?
no subject
"Jigglypuff!" the little pink orb announced.
Shantae stared, blinked, and pointed. "...What the hell is that supposed to be?"
"HEY!" The biker shouted. "My little Princess is not a THAT! She's a lady!" The Jigglypuff puffed up, pouting at Shantae's assessment.
no subject
"Laaaax!"
Hi, Jigglypuff! I hope you're ready!
no subject
"Princess, Sing!" the biker ordered in response.
no subject
Unfortunately, the balloon Pokémon was able to dodge the attack! Her music filled the air and instead of crashing down to crunh, Sonny crashed down to... well... crash.
"Laaaaxxx...."
no subject
"WHAT THE HELL, SONNY! GET UP!" she shouted angrily at the sleeping mountain of bear.
"Aha! Now, Princess, use Pound!" the biker ordered triumphantly, as the Jigglypuff leaped up and started to punch at the slumbering Sonny.
no subject
The Pound knocked his head around on whatever neck he had, but he continued to snore entirely peacefully. If it even hurt, he showed not the slightest sign of it.

"Laaax... lax lax..... sno'..."
I'm going to eat you, giant pink candy. I'm going to eat you so good...
Hey, Shantae, at least he seemed happy, right?
no subject
"Hey, you!" she called out to the biker. "How the heck am I supposed to wake up my buddy here?" she asked.
"What?" he asked, blinking in confusion.
"I don't know how this Pokemon battling stuff works, so what am I supposed to do now?"
"You don't have an Awakening?"
"What the heck's an Awakening?"
"Um... If you just wait a while, he'll wake up on his own...?"
Shantae sighed again. "Great..."
no subject
Sonny sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes with big, balled up paws. He smacked his lips and turned to grin at Shantae.
"Lax."
Good morning!
Whatever attacks had landed during his slumber hadn't seemed to affect him much. As he remembered, most of the trainers who hung out here were kind of low level. He rolled up onto his hind feet and stretched his back, looking entirely unconcerned.
no subject
"Her name is Princess!"
"--princess there?"
no subject
Good morning, Princess!
CHOMP!!
This time, the Crunch attack didn't land astray and instead squished the Jigglypuff fairly solidly, knocking it out instantly.

And just now I realized I called Shantae Wave in the last tag like a total idiot
Now you have to call Wave Shantae in our other log! So it balances!
