Pokemon! Genie! Kanto? It's a thing that's happening!
Who: Shantae and Sonny Moe!
What: Kanto Adventures!
Where: Kanto! You know! The place where everyone wants to be the very best like no-one ever was!
When: Mid June
Warnings: Pokémon Battle Shenanigans
Music: You know which music you need to listen to.

The train ride from FDC was always pretty pleasant. The scenery was nice and it was a fairly long ride which allowed time for both gazing out the window at things flying by and also napping. Sonny, of course, insisted it was his treat whenever the snack trolley rolled past. The snack lady on the train had never made so much in one shift before...
...anyway. Kanto in Summertime is a wonderful place. The sun is shining, the Pidgey are Shin--er, singing, the Rattata are looking at their masses of squabbling children and regretting each and every life choice that led them to this moment. Today, they are joined by a portly, young, blue haired gentleman and his beautiful purple haired companion who just so happens to be a Genie.
"So! This is Pallet!" he said, turning to her and grinning. "I know it doesn't look like much, but it's a great place!"

"I can give you a shoulder rub when we land if you want? Would that help?"
no subject
She circled around to find a safe spot to land, and when she found one, she swooped down and released Sonny, touching down herself with a little less grace than she would have liked, before shifting back to human form. She rolled her shoulders when she was herself again, groaning a bit. "I'm gonna feel that tomorrow," she lamented.
no subject
He'd never had much practice with this - it wasn't like any of his siblings were really the kind of people to ask for shoulder rubs. But he'd seen it on TV and as with most things that involved personal contact and affection, he was naturally gifted. Empathy was his strong suit and he used it to judge what would be helpful and what wouldn't be.
"Tell me if I'm being too firm." he said.

"Now that we're here, where would these Team Rocket guys be heading?" she asked.
no subject
"Bad guys always hang out down by the docks, plus, the Rockets said they were sending the starters to a region that was far away so they're going to probably send them by boat!"

"I smell fish markets! This way!" he said, striding out of the undergrowth to look at the city outskirts. It looked roughly the same as the last time he was here, so, nothing crazy had happened and the layout should be the same.
It was a quaint little seaside city and would have been a great place to stop if they weren't on a mission.

His sneakers slapped against the wood of the boardwalk before long and... oh. This wasn't even going to be hard.
There was a large, fast looking boat moored against the pier with two black suited grunts standing in the back of it and a huge red R painted on the side.
"...uh. They really aren't really very good at not being noticed."
no subject
"So, uh... These guys were a major threat before, HOW?" she asked Sonny, scarcely believing these guys held ANY kind of power over anyone.
no subject
He started walking towards the boat, taking long steps, his hands swinging at his sides, clenched into fists.
"I'm not scared today, though."
And just now I realized I called Shantae Wave in the last tag like a total idiot
Now you have to call Wave Shantae in our other log! So it balances!
"Hey!" Sonny called. "Hi! Are you guys waiting for the shipment of Starter Pokémon from Pallet town?"
"Like we'd ever tell you, Chump!" called the highest ranking grunt on the boat. Professional Grunt First Class. Sonny recognized the rank as being roughly equivalent to his own.
"Pretty much telling me that you won't tell me is kind of the same thing as actually just telling me." Sonny replied. "You probably should of just said 'What are you talking about!?' or something!"
".....Golbat, Go!"
The grunt, annoyed at being shown up released his Pokémon. Sonny looked at Shantae. "You suuuuure you don't want to try fighting?"
Can do!
"Let's have some fun," she clattered.
Re: Can do!
"Shantae - that's so cool! You look so neat!" he said, walking around her quickly to take it all in.
The Rocket Grunt - clearly dumbfounded by the hot girl who had just turned into a giant spider creature - was failing to give Golbat any orders. Because his jaw was dangling open. He almost wished he had a Pokédex so he could see what that even WAS.
"Shantae! Let's try.... uh. Hmm. I don't know what your attacks are." Sonny said, thinking about it for a second. "You probably have some kind of webbing though? So like... string shot, maybe?"

The bat Pokémon was stuck with the gluey thread, but still managed to fire off a weak, one winged slash at Shantae."
"It's a bug type. It's got to be a bug type.... I don't know..." the Grunt mumbled to himself.
"Go Shantae! Use.... uh... let's see.... Do you have a poison sting attack?" Sonny asked. This was a lot of fun! No wonder so many ten year old kids left home to train fighting monsters!
no subject
"No, but I do have this!" she declared, tugging on the webs to draw Golbat closer, and spitting a ball of venom right at it.
no subject
The Golbat was kind of unimpressed by the venom, being a poison type itself. But this string shot was abnormally strong and not just slowing it down, but preventing it from moving at all. It started to freak out, flailing around so much that it entangled itself even worse and was completely unable to follow up on any orders its trainer was yelling at it.
"This is terrible! That's not how this is supposed to work!" the Rocket grunt lamented loudly, tears glistening on his cheeks. He returned his Golbat and sniffled heartily.
"Woohoo! We won!" Sonny yelled. "Hey, pay up!!"
The Rocket started fumbling around in his pocket for the required Pokéyen.
"Great job, Shantae! You're so awesome!" Sonny exclaimed while the hired muscle doled out half of his paycheck to Sonny.
no subject
She stomped up to the Rocket grunt, grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him closer. "Now are you gonna let go of those baby Pokemon, or am I gonna have to get rough on you?" she threatened.
no subject
Sonny just laughed. "She's new here! She doesn't know how things work in Kanto so you should be nice so she doesn't throw you overboard! Also, she's her own person so I can't tell her to do anything even if I wanted to!"
"...that's strange and wrong." the Grunt grunted. What kind of trainer even was this husky blue haired chump!?
"But that's good news, Shantae! That means we got here in time to spoil their plans!" Sonny said, clapping his hands together and smiling. They had made it!
no subject
"Now he can't warn anyone we're here," she said, dusting her hands. "All we have to do is lie in wait, and ambush the others when they arrive with the shipment!"
no subject
That seemed like the kind of Man-Of-Action stuff that might impress a feisty Genie girl!
"I wonder if there's spare uniforms on board... It would be pretty funny to surprise them with a disguise."
