It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.



Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location.

But unlike last year, he seems a lot less... enthused about the whole ceremony. It isn't only because he isn't going to be among the graduates, though that still does sting a little. His face is set in its usual stern frown as he watches the stage and waits.

Finally, the Headmaster decided that enough mingling was enough, and approached the podium, clearing his throat into the microphone to silence the gathered crowd.

"It is with great pleasure that I assemble the students and faculty of our esteemed Smash Academy to celebrate the accomplishments not only of our senior class, but also of our institution as a whole.

For those of you who have managed to complete the required curriculum, congratulations. You have opened up a new chapter in your lives, and you take with you the achievements and of the past four years. Your dedication and determination to our Academy helps to make it the fine institution it is today.

Whether you choose to continue your careers here or elsewhere, please know that your accomplishments and contributions to the academy will remain."

He paused for a brief moment, coughing and shuffling something behind the podium.

"For those of you concerned with the recent infestation, it has been appropriately dealt with." Cough. "With that said, let us celebrate today's achievements. I present to you Smash Academy's graduating class of 2014."

Finishing his speech and letting the applause die down, Master Hand figured it was time to get commencement underway. He called the seniors up one by one, presenting them with their diplomas and allowing them to say a few words.

[HEY SENIORS. SAY HI TO MASTER HAND. GET YOUR FANCY PICE OF PAPER. GIVE A SPEECH IF YOU WANT TO, EVEN. CROWD REACTIONS ARE ENCOURAGED.]

One Sunshine Mortimer was graduating from High School this year.

He was very happy to take his diploma and shake the Headmaster's hand and smile and wave to everyone and make a very small speech.

"Hi! I just wanted to thank all my Teachers! You're all really great and very patient and thank you. I'd also like to thank my Team. They aren't here right now but thanks to them anyway! Also all my friends who have helped me study and all my friends who helped me relax when I wasn't studying. Also, welcome back Riwane and Voile! I missed you two! And Max for helping me get stronger outside of his class as well as inside it. And thanks to my Boss, His Burliness King Bowser for being such a supportive and great boss!"

He wasn't even instructed to say that last part, if you can believe it.

Anyway. Was that everyone? Probably that was everyone.

And there he goes off the stage.

Daisy was so set for prom. It had been way too long since she last had a party, and this was one of the biggest of the year.

Little did she suspect that there were some people VERY interested in talking to her...

Things that were probably going to be very awkward: this.

Despite his general air of apathy towards anything and everything, Falcon did sort of keep a vested interest in his football players, if only because they were his football players, and he was a little nosy like that. Combine that with his proposal-related discussion with Mac, and the Captain felt that he could probably stand to know a little bit more about the situation.

So here he was. Casually sidling up to Daisy at the snack table all discreet-like. He was going to get to the bottom of this, before Mac did something silly like propose.

Bossypants Thread

Kiyotaka had disappeared shortly after the dismissal. In truth, he would have much preferred to call it a night then and there, get in some self-studying or pencil out a routine for the summer or something, but... he had to come back and do the whole prom thing. It was customary, and he was doing the whole dating thing, so he dutifully returned about twenty minutes later, having completed what he left to do in the first place.

Because even he knew he couldn't stay in the uniform for this. NOT THIS YEAR. where did he even get his hands on an outfit like that really

As much as he decided he was not a fan of the whole prom thing, he had made it his self-given duty to monitor the punch bowl and make sure no fights broke out anywhere, just in case. Clearly, he was destined to have as many people thwart his mission as possible.

He's kind of nervous about dancing, himself. So many opportunities to step on dainty little toes with his big feet.

Formalwear Hagakure

Since Hagakure wearing kimono is sort of a thing, Hagakure wasn't going to disappoint.

Kimono were the only formal wear that he owned. No, really. Hagakure has all the fashion sense of an 80-year-old stereotype of a Japanese man.

So, folding fan tucked dashingly into his obi, and dreadlocks held back by a yellow band, he entered into the gym and looked around, looking as fancy as all-get-out. Eat your heart out, Itchymarbles; Hagakure just out-Japanese-male-ideal'd you or something.

Hey now, Kiyotaka was pretty into Japanese traditional wear himself. He just didn't see the point in wearing it to an event that did not even have a ghost of a touch of Japanese influence. He'd save that for one of the weird fusion festivals that tended to go on in the city.

IF IT WAS. He was going to be upset about having gone through so much trouble trying to find his own outfit that he felt awkward in. He was already wishing he just stuck with the uniform.

Prom is known for being a highlight for many students, celebrating the graduation of the senior class, a rite of celebration and accomplishment. Returning students revel in their having made it through the year, a festivity for the respite of summer laid ahead of them. It was a show of unity between students, and for that Hajime could not resist attending.

Unfortunately, with as lousy a mood as he'd been in for the last couple weeks, Hajime couldn't bring himself to do more but lurk against the wall, sunburned and dour, weighing down on the atmosphere he'd intended to uplift. Gold star for trying, kid.

Lucca arrived a little late, forgoing the gowns for a simple drab shirt dress that, one could suspect, really HAD started life as a man's shirt, along with some boots and a green pendant around her neck. She was no senior, so why would she have to wrap herself in fluffy tulle?

She spends the majority of prom at the snack tables or busily wallflowering the dance floor, although she occasionally steals off to fiddle with a mechanical something she'd stowed in her bag that looks suspiciously like a steampunk artificial heart.

Brock hadn't been to many high school dances in his life (perhaps a side-effect of a society that booted kids out into the wilderness at ten years old), but he was pretty sure that even at Smash Academy, bringing mechanical projects to prom was kind of weird.

He was also kind of a little nosy, and kind of looking to not be so awkward and kind of looking to maybe introduce himself around a little, so he figured the girl with the weird mechanical whatever was a good place to start.

"Hey, uh...what's that?"

To say Aoi didn't get dressed up often was probably an understatement, and to say she was uncomfortable was probably one as well. She didn't exactly do these kinds of things--not proms, not dances, and certainly not dressing up. Though she'd nearly managed to worry herself into a panic, Aoi was there! Aoi had a date! Aoi was in a dress, amazing.

She sort of looked vaguely awkward in it, as if she wasn't used to such a thing (she wasn't), and therefore found comfort in the snack table, more specifically, many tiny sandwiches.

It was very becoming of a young lady.

Oh no, there she was. There was the babe. Kiyotaka's own date and he almost didn't recognize her.

He made a stealthy approach. Where "stealthy" just meant "slightly less direct than usual." As a man who generally made bold strides with purpose, he was completely out of his element both in a big social function and in relationships, so he was... a little hesitant. Pausing here and there to wonder if she was just going to laugh at his outfit or if he'd learned the wrong dance or something.

Okay, Kiyotaka, keep it together. Be CONFIDENT. It's just a school function.

School functions were easy.

"Asahina! There you are! You look..."

Yamoodle Hifuhairboner

Yamada was here. He wasn't set to graduate since he came so late in the year but that was okay. He could still jazz himself up and support his fellow students whether they were coming or going or with whatever they were doing. After extensive internet research and online ordering, he equipped himself with a suitable attire that gave him +1 formality. It is probably actually an expensive cosplay that looks coincidentally appropriate for grad/prom.

Not that he looked terribly comfortable in it, but he was at least obviously comfortable hanging near the wall in the back. Or near the vending machines. Or near the food tables. Definitely near the food tables and eating a sizable portion of the snacks. Someone stop this kid.

Despite all of her mixed feelings about classmates that had killed other classmates (classmates that had killed other classmates that were now back to life and her boyfriend, at that), Aoi sort of felt obligated to at least say hello to all of the Hope's Peak types at prom. It was only polite, after all.

She would offer a gift of food and drink as an olive branch.

"Yamada! I brought you some punch."

Catch a Henry

Prom wasn't somewhere that anyone could imagine someone like Henry having a good time. Maybe if Ike were right about it being a tournament, it would be easier to picture him attending. But just like last year, Henry showed up.

Henry can be found flitting from place to place with that constant smile of his. Where he is one moment, he'll disappear the next. If anybody has any plans to catch him, it's best to do it the moment he's spotted, or it might be a while before he shows up next. During some times during the night, he can be found looking rather vacant behind that smile of his. During the later part of the night, he can be found doing something weird to one of the punch bowls. It's almost as though he's pouring something into it! Could he be responsible for spiking the punch?

Look who's a happy recently-birthday girl... if the usual perpetual poker face and scent of alcohol (scotch, if you have a very good nose) was any indicator of "happy" when it came to someone like Samus. For the record, this year wasn't too bad. It was nice to see graduating students off. It was not so nice to see others held back, but that wasn't up to her, now was it?

Her dress this year is somewhere between this and that and yes as always she has her gun strapped to her thigh. Samus isn't usually easy to find, but for a ceremony like this she is quietly lingering around. Probably not for very long, however.

Unfortunately, he has not learned from last year insofar as gender-specific formal wear was concerned, as he is reprising the blue dress. It might have something to do with the fact that he enjoys the nice breeze on unmentionable areas. What a beautiful princess he is.

None of that actually happened. Well, there was guy no one had seen before, but he was more short, dark, and boxy. If anyone was confused, it was him, but he did at least have help finding an appropriate outfit.

So there's this absurdly large guy wearing formal wear (in his case, a short-sleeved button-up shirt and a tie) that makes him just look more absurdly large. How he found a tie that was large enough to go around his neck and then go down the length of most of his torso was beyond anyone's estimation -- he must have had it tailored. In fact, he must have had the shirt tailored as well.

But, there he is, drinking some punch or stuffing like eight sandwiches into his face at the same time. Maybe you need to ask him a question about having a graduation sword made. Maybe you need to ask him a question about how to get lats that don't stop. Maybe you just want to stand in his box-like shadow. Here he is. Here he is, for you.

When not in the company of one Samus Aran, Falcon can most easily be found drinking "punch" (he is also drinking it while in the company of one Samus Aran). Except it's not punch. When is it ever punch. It looks like punch but it isn't. Or maybe there's some punch in it but the punch is really like 75% something else that isn't punch.

Samus decided to sidle up next to the worst chaperone. She'd long since developed a healthy allergy to anything edible in the school but occasionally she ran out of fucks to give. Even better when she had a guinea pig who'd already ingested a fair amount of 75% proof something else.

So, Jock was here. Wearing his tuxedo t-shirt again.

He would be having fun, if that were possible. But it was not. It was not possible to have fun. Because Green was supposed to be here on a date with Blue. And therefore, there could be no fun. There could be only staring at Blue from across the room when she was with Green, and avidly worrying over Blue whenever she gave him the dances he was promised.

There's probably two poke-ladies hovering around, making sure he didn't set anything on fire by accident.

As someone largely grumpy about everything at the moment, Hajime generally sympathized with moodiness. But some people just didn't look quite right in such a state of distress. Eventually, curiosity overcame his general dour attitude and Hajime slipped into a chair by Jock.

"I didn't know you were able to be upset, honestly." Nice opener, really sensitive.

Apple Kid was attending the festivities, wearing his Auto-Hoverbelt DX, and a tuxedo. He hovered six inches off of the ground, with what looked like Batman's utility belt strapped to his generous midsection.

His mouse was also wearing a very tiny tuxdeo, and also a very tiny belt (an Auto-Hoverbelt DX-lite) around his own midsection. He was hovering in the air approximately at Apple Kid's shoulder height.

He had bathed for the occasion. The mouse. The mouse had bathed for the occasion.

Apple Kid had bathed three days ago, so he was actually very clean. For Apple Kid.

Apple Kid appears to be analyzing the contents of the punchbowl, trying to decipher what, exactly, it is that is in the punch this year. When his analysis is finished, he'll publish his findings.

Yamada observed him for a while. Observed him observing the punch bowl. Perhaps, he, observed him observing him observe the punch bowl, and eventually Yamada leaned forward to ask, "Are you trying to peer into the abyss of punch?"

"Is it peering back?" Whispered the boy with also a generous midsection and also bathed approximately 1-3 days ago.

A General Ike Thread for General Ike Needs

Ike can be found spending a good deal of his time with the other resident blue-haired lord, Eirik, who he asked to accompany him to prom. As much as he looks and feels out of his element, he's having a decent time- but maybe he doesn't look it so much since he's always scowling. It's hard to tell with Ike.

If he's not with Eirik, he'll probably be eating. Not drinking any punch, though, as though he'd enjoy that sugary swill, but you can try to warn him anyway. He's already heard the stories. He'll also be wandering around and taking in the sights, so feel free to chat him up or ask him for a dance. (Ike? Dancing? Hahaha.)

Attending prom with Ike was an interesting experience to say the least. She didn't look quite as 'princess' as she had the year prior, but she still carried herself in the same manner. He was about as good an escort as she expected him to be. He was acquainted with royalty, after all. She certainly wasn't the first princess he'd met.

Her arm curled about his, her head tipped as she eyed him. "What do you think?" Of the prom, she meant.

Orange Nerd Crowbar

The next in the line of responsible chaperones was Gordon, who had hunted around at the last minute and found a nice grey suit for the occasion.

The orange tie was a matter of necessity. As was the blue check shirt. Okay, the whole THING was a matter of necessity.

Anyway, Plaid McPoindexter is often found at the punch tables, and he seems either heedless or greatful that the brew is spiked, because he's drinking. Also he's one to mingle, so he will be around in the crowd, talking and watching those on the dance floor.

Jon is, as per normal, just being a lurker who lurks in the darker corners of the gymnasium with absolutely no intent of interrupting the natural proceedings between boys and girls on this night of nights.

However if anyone starts a fight he'll be happy to step in and take score. I mean stop it.
