It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.



Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. 

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, TAG YOUR DUDES, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

Yamada observed him for a while. Observed him observing the punch bowl. Perhaps, he, observed him observing him observe the punch bowl, and eventually Yamada leaned forward to ask, "Are you trying to peer into the abyss of punch?"

"Is it peering back?" Whispered the boy with also a generous midsection and also bathed approximately 1-3 days ago.

"No," replied Apple Kid, to his onlooker, as he hovered next to Yamada. "It is not. Every year, the punch gets spiked at some point in the night; I'm trying to track its chemical structure to see exactly how it alters as the evening wears on. I'm getting an early sample, before it has been adulterated. Probably."

It was possible that the punch had always been spiked, and that the others spiking it were simply spiking it further. Crazy hand could have made the punch out of naught but vodka and orange juice.

"Of course. That's a tried and true high school movie trope: the punch must be spiked like the spice must flow."

Spoken like a true high-school trope connoisseur.

"I wouldn't drink it anyway unless it was cola."

"I like fruit juice," said Apple Kid. "There's probably some soda somewhere, if you want to drink that. It's likely safer than the punch is, anyway. I'd estimate approximately a 98.2% safety chance with drinking soda, compared to an approximately 7.2% safety chance with drinking this punch at any time after the first half hour of the dance, based off of previous year's observations."

"I know where all thirteen vending machines are on campus including the illustrious teacher's lounge machine which has a complete spectrum of flavors." He quickly rattled, monotone. Surely his useless trivia knowledge was as impressive as Apple Kid's. Perhaps there was an unseen useless trivia kinship at the precipice of forming here.

"...anyway, what's so potentially unsafe about it? It's probably just spiked with liquor or something."

"Several times at this school, foodstuffs have been cursed or enchanted -- I was once turned into a pig. There have been several other incidents, with students becoming much older or younger, along the same lines. While I expect the punch to become progressively more alcoholic, I am also looking for non-expected substances, such as age or gender-altering compounds," explained Apple Kid.

"So you're saying... at some point men could become girls and girls could become men? Has hot/cold water been involved before?"

"Well, actually," said Apple Kid, "Although I have not been exposed to that myself, there was a set of hot springs on an island that resulted in people turning into pokemon when they bathed in them. There was also, some years before this, a trip to an area outside of town that had similar, but less-focused results. Some age-changing, some body-changing, I believe," said Apples Child. "All temporary, most lasting only a week or two."

"Interesting." Yamada replied while stroking his non-existent neck beard. "So this punch, is it clean or contaminated with henshin juice? Can you tell yet?"

"It has no transformative powers that I can detect," said Apple Kid. "Although it is, at this point of the evening, comprised of approximately 13.52% alcohol of various natures."

"Irregardless," He totally just said irregardless, "Cola is still by far the superior beverage."

"What about rum and coke," Apple Kid posed, as he continued his analysis.

Yamada leaned in. He leaned in very closely, suddenly very grave and serious.

"Is that what this is. Is this rum and coke."

"No, it's fruit punch and vodka and bourbon and scotch," said Apple Kid, just as seriously. "If someone were to add either rum or coke to it as the night wore on, I would not be surprised."
