It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.



Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. 

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, TAG YOUR DUDES, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

Finally, the Headmaster decided that enough mingling was enough, and approached the podium, clearing his throat into the microphone to silence the gathered crowd.

"It is with great pleasure that I assemble the students and faculty of our esteemed Smash Academy to celebrate the accomplishments not only of our senior class, but also of our institution as a whole.

For those of you who have managed to complete the required curriculum, congratulations. You have opened up a new chapter in your lives, and you take with you the achievements and of the past four years. Your dedication and determination to our Academy helps to make it the fine institution it is today.

Whether you choose to continue your careers here or elsewhere, please know that your accomplishments and contributions to the academy will remain."

He paused for a brief moment, coughing and shuffling something behind the podium.

"For those of you concerned with the recent infestation, it has been appropriately dealt with." Cough. "With that said, let us celebrate today's achievements. I present to you Smash Academy's graduating class of 2014."

Finishing his speech and letting the applause die down, Master Hand figured it was time to get commencement underway. He called the seniors up one by one, presenting them with their diplomas and allowing them to say a few words.

With the diplomas granted and speeches taken care of, Master Hand stepped to the podium one last time to officially end the ceremony.

"Seniors." He began. "Please move your tassel from the right to the left. Congratulations, Smash Academy class of 2014."

But unlike last year, he seems a lot less... enthused about the whole ceremony. It isn't only because he isn't going to be among the graduates, though that still does sting a little. His face is set in its usual stern frown as he watches the stage and waits.

Kiyotaka had disappeared shortly after the dismissal. In truth, he would have much preferred to call it a night then and there, get in some self-studying or pencil out a routine for the summer or something, but... he had to come back and do the whole prom thing. It was customary, and he was doing the whole dating thing, so he dutifully returned about twenty minutes later, having completed what he left to do in the first place.

Because even he knew he couldn't stay in the uniform for this. NOT THIS YEAR. where did he even get his hands on an outfit like that really

As much as he decided he was not a fan of the whole prom thing, he had made it his self-given duty to monitor the punch bowl and make sure no fights broke out anywhere, just in case. Clearly, he was destined to have as many people thwart his mission as possible.

Chili is eighteen now, but he's still only a junior. One more year to go...! Dressed to the nines, the fiery Striaton triplet arrived and took a seat to watch the graduating class. It was the right thing to do!

Going home and feeling like an entire year passed was trippy. That's what happened when you canon updated went home to take care of business. At least it wasn't his class that was graduating already, so he didn't fall behind or anything like that. That was something to feel content about, decided Chili.

Appropriately dealt with, right. Ulki can only wonder what Master Hand's deal is...

Unless it's NOT HIM AT ALLLLLLLLLLLL it's never too early for another replacement situation like last time. It's something to consider. That, or he's just totally unhelpful. Ulki almost rolls his eyes. (And doesn't clap. How RUDE.)

Formalwear Hagakure

Since Hagakure wearing kimono is sort of a thing, Hagakure wasn't going to disappoint.

Kimono were the only formal wear that he owned. No, really. Hagakure has all the fashion sense of an 80-year-old stereotype of a Japanese man.

So, folding fan tucked dashingly into his obi, and dreadlocks held back by a yellow band, he entered into the gym and looked around, looking as fancy as all-get-out. Eat your heart out, Itchymarbles; Hagakure just out-Japanese-male-ideal'd you or something.

Hey now, Kiyotaka was pretty into Japanese traditional wear himself. He just didn't see the point in wearing it to an event that did not even have a ghost of a touch of Japanese influence. He'd save that for one of the weird fusion festivals that tended to go on in the city.

"Is that even appropriate attire for something like this?"

IF IT WAS. He was going to be upset about having gone through so much trouble trying to find his own outfit that he felt awkward in. He was already wishing he just stuck with the uniform.

Ishimaru is the only one sitting in the row of chairs facing the stage.

It would be very hard not to notice him. But Mukuro slides into the seat next to him.

"The ceremony... does not start for an hour." she remarked quietly.

Honestly, he knew coming this early was overkill, but with all the excited chatter and last-minute panicking about prom going on all over campus, Kiyotaka was glad for the quiet of the empty stadium. He could be alone with his thoughts. Or mostly alone.

He watched Mukuro carefully, wondering if she was going to just run away from him again. Their encounter in Marsh hadn't stopped bothering him; no matter how much he turned it over in his mind, he just did not understand what he did wrong. But she was talking to him now, so that was something.

"You are also far too early," he pointed out.

Prom is known for being a highlight for many students, celebrating the graduation of the senior class, a rite of celebration and accomplishment. Returning students revel in their having made it through the year, a festivity for the respite of summer laid ahead of them. It was a show of unity between students, and for that Hajime could not resist attending.

Unfortunately, with as lousy a mood as he'd been in for the last couple weeks, Hajime couldn't bring himself to do more but lurk against the wall, sunburned and dour, weighing down on the atmosphere he'd intended to uplift. Gold star for trying, kid.

Kittytaco mostly only dwelt in the land of summer yukata - cheap and common. The sort of thing that anyone might wear to a summer festival. This, this was classy as shit.

Hagakure looked down at what he was wearing. "Why, dude? It said we were supposed to wear formal clothes, right? These are my formal clothes, dude. Count the mon, one, two, three, four, five. I can't get any classier than this. Why are you dressed like you're going on a fancy horseback ride?"

Mayhaps he has a fancy horse to prance about on.

Lucca arrived a little late, forgoing the gowns for a simple drab shirt dress that, one could suspect, really HAD started life as a man's shirt, along with some boots and a green pendant around her neck. She was no senior, so why would she have to wrap herself in fluffy tulle?

She spends the majority of prom at the snack tables or busily wallflowering the dance floor, although she occasionally steals off to fiddle with a mechanical something she'd stowed in her bag that looks suspiciously like a steampunk artificial heart.

To say Aoi didn't get dressed up often was probably an understatement, and to say she was uncomfortable was probably one as well. She didn't exactly do these kinds of things--not proms, not dances, and certainly not dressing up. Though she'd nearly managed to worry herself into a panic, Aoi was there! Aoi had a date! Aoi was in a dress, amazing.

She sort of looked vaguely awkward in it, as if she wasn't used to such a thing (she wasn't), and therefore found comfort in the snack table, more specifically, many tiny sandwiches.

It was very becoming of a young lady.

Yamada was here. He wasn't set to graduate since he came so late in the year but that was okay. He could still jazz himself up and support his fellow students whether they were coming or going or with whatever they were doing. After extensive internet research and online ordering, he equipped himself with a suitable attire that gave him +1 formality. It is probably actually an expensive cosplay that looks coincidentally appropriate for grad/prom.

Not that he looked terribly comfortable in it, but he was at least obviously comfortable hanging near the wall in the back. Or near the vending machines. Or near the food tables. Definitely near the food tables and eating a sizable portion of the snacks. Someone stop this kid.

Catch a Henry

Prom wasn't somewhere that anyone could imagine someone like Henry having a good time. Maybe if Ike were right about it being a tournament, it would be easier to picture him attending. But just like last year, Henry showed up.

Henry can be found flitting from place to place with that constant smile of his. Where he is one moment, he'll disappear the next. If anybody has any plans to catch him, it's best to do it the moment he's spotted, or it might be a while before he shows up next. During some times during the night, he can be found looking rather vacant behind that smile of his. During the later part of the night, he can be found doing something weird to one of the punch bowls. It's almost as though he's pouring something into it! Could he be responsible for spiking the punch?

Things that were probably going to be very awkward: this.

Despite his general air of apathy towards anything and everything, Falcon did sort of keep a vested interest in his football players, if only because they were his football players, and he was a little nosy like that. Combine that with his proposal-related discussion with Mac, and the Captain felt that he could probably stand to know a little bit more about the situation.

So here he was. Casually sidling up to Daisy at the snack table all discreet-like. He was going to get to the bottom of this, before Mac did something silly like propose.

Look who's a happy recently-birthday girl... if the usual perpetual poker face and scent of alcohol (scotch, if you have a very good nose) was any indicator of "happy" when it came to someone like Samus. For the record, this year wasn't too bad. It was nice to see graduating students off. It was not so nice to see others held back, but that wasn't up to her, now was it?

Her dress this year is somewhere between this and that and yes as always she has her gun strapped to her thigh. Samus isn't usually easy to find, but for a ceremony like this she is quietly lingering around. Probably not for very long, however.
