It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.



Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. 

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, TAG YOUR DUDES, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

DOWN HERE.

Vivian offered an awkward smile up to him for a second, then quickly tried to shift it to warm and friendly. She was going to make a man friend out of you, Hajime!

He looks down, and blinks. Who's--ah, the robot. He notes the change of hairstyle with a raised eyebrow. Interesting, in a "someone reupholstered the furniture" sort of way.

"Good evening."

"Good... evening," she repeated, wanting to return the same gestures in an effort to impress him. Brown and Taka fighting with him that one day was upsetting, so maybe if she could show him she was more human than he thought, then they wouldn't fight anymore, right? It was her fault so she had to fix it.

"Uhm, Ha..." What should she call him? "Mr. Hajime?" Good enough. "Can I ask you something? Please?"

Alas, all he had picked up on so far was her ability to take in and regurgitate data presented to her. Naturally, it was all a machine could do, nothing impressive.

Still, as just a simple mirror of the information she collected, he held no grudge against the entity, and saw no reason to deny it seeking further input. "You may."

Alright. She's been learning how to do this, mostly with pillows in pants but she never tried asking! So here she goes.

"Can we dance together? Please?"

All right, he can admit he did not expect that. He stares at her for a moment.

"There are many better suited partners present."

Her eyes follow his statement to the crowd and for a moment his logic might be applicable to her. However she feels adamant that it be him she dances with, so she looks back to him with determination.

"You are, uhm," WHAT'S THE STRONGEST ADJECTIVE IN HER ARSENAL... "a perfect partner."

Woah now.

Somehow, he doubted her analysis. For a moment, he thought to ask her reasoning for such a qualification, before realizing it would serve nothing but his own ego. There was nothing for it but to get it over with.

In spite of himself, he was curious.

Finally, Hajime relented with a sigh. "Very well, if that's what you've determined."

You could not make a little girl happier, Hajime. Vivian bounced off her heels for excitedly, trying to restrain her herself but unable to help it. Making sure to watch her strength, she reached for Hajime's hand to take hold of it with both of her own.

"Thank you...!"

She's tinier but THEY WILL DANCE, SO HELP HER.

Gentle as she meant to be, he hadn't expected her firm grasp to lead him to the dance floor. Naturally, cheering lead to some practice in dancing, though Hajime had a little less experience with partners. None, he had no partner dancing experience.

His first ever ask to dance was from a soulless android. That really figured.

Hey, he agreed to it.

Moving with him, she couldn't help but smile up in his direction. He wasn't such a bad guy, see? She knew he was nice! Taka and Brown liked him, after all. He had to be a good person.

"I've never danced with someone before," she confessed, fingers shaking a tad,a cocktail of fear, excitement and joy amping her up. "It looks fun. Is it fun, Mr. Hajime?"

Hajime wasn't even really looking at her, let alone returning the smile. What a great person he was, forcing himself to put up with this farce.

"I've not had many opportunities for dancing with a partner, either. If you've experienced enjoyment dancing on your own before, performing with a partner ought to have the same result." Hajime no "Naturally, such things vary from person to person." hajime this is not a homework assignment

Yo bro, you know what making eye contact and not rambling make easier? Not stepping on your partner's feet. "Sorry--er." Shit, he apologized on reflex.

The pain of having her toes stomped surprised her; she even let out a bit of a yelp and stepped back. Silence lingered for a moment as she looked at the injury but soon she smiled at the cause.

"I'm fine!" She kept hold of him, afraid he might leave her. Impressing him was so important. She just had to be friends with Hajime.

"Erm, maybe it's twice the fun! Taka and Brown have fun with you, so..." She giggled and wiggled her sore foot, hoping he might not notice her shaking some of the pain off.

Oh, but he did notice. His eyebrows climbed at the solid imitation of a pain response. "Interesting." And that was all there seemed to be to say on the matter.

"Taka... ah. Yes, we're good friends. Their judgements are perhaps not always at their best, though, so perhaps don't take it to heart."

No, see, that one was a joke, because he's putting himself down too, it's only half terrible.

Vivian didn't always catch onto statements like that, but she understood most of the situation with Hajime and it bit just enough to make her shoulders sink. A smile steadied itself. "We all make mistakes," she noted, something she picked up along the way. "Taka and Brown... they understand." It's why Taka especially even bothered with her, wasn't it?

"As best they can... as best any of us can. Kiyotaka and Brown both think with their heart, I've found." That thought gave him pause. "It's... a trait I usually find quite noble and respectable." That was a distressing notion, that such warm and caring hearts as theirs could be lead astray.
