Dorm Log: School's in session

What: Dorm log! September edition.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: The span of September 15th - 30th.
Warnings: HAHAHAHAHA.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind. It could be the common room or the student science lab or wherever. So how's that first week of school been treating you? How big's your pile of homework? Sure, you could be doing that. But why do that when you could decimate your friendships by playing a round of Giana Party 4? Host a girl's-only slumber party! Spy on a girl's-only slumber party! Dare someone to spend the night in the haunted dorm! Slip a (fake) love letter beneath that special someone's door! Etcetera, etcetera... I'm sure you can think of something to get your bad self up to.

OPEN - Lounge

Mukuro's a quiet girl who keeps to herself for the most part.

But despite this she's not really one to read, and not one to read for pleasure but today she was sitting in the student lounge area with a stack of books. She had her rifle perched next to her on the couch to give an indicator that she was not to be disturbed. But the books are in plain view for all to see - a stack of Haruki Murakami books. Books that dealt with themes like alienation and loneliness, and the mending of relationships. It was clear that if one could put the pieces together, one can discern what the issue is on Mukuro's mind.

Occasionally, she would place a book down and simply look out the window, standing as still and statuesque as a sentinel. But she would be eerily quiet the entire time.

Zero was still very much trying to get used to the school. Well, perhaps it was less so the facilities itself and more the open environment, the people, the lack of fear of being hunted down and extinguished. In truth, he felt more uncertain in peace than war.

The subject matter of the stack of books were unknown to him, but he approached the pile anyway, a vague sense of curiosity in him despite the utter blankness in his stare. His eyes glanced over at the girl on the couch, and her rifle - was it normal for students to have guns? This was a fighting school, he supposed. There probably weren't the usual restrictions, but... it still seemed unusual for a civilian, especially one bunkered down to read.

After a long period of silent staring, he finally asked: "...What's the gun for?"

BE-01 • Henry & Jock

Either one could be in this room at any time. Or both of them, you lucky soul. Expect tiger dogs and crazy sorcerers in this room for your conversational needs.

Jock is lying on his bed, batting a ball back and forth, but he doesn't really seem that into it.

Alter Ego • AE09 (Computer Lab)

Alter Ego can be found in the computer labs, but only during some parts of the day. When he's in there, he's usually found on one of the desks in the form of a small device that looks similar to a gaming console, like a DS.

Otherwise, Alter Ego spends some parts of his day wandering around the school. He can be found in either the computer lab, the recreation hall, or the common room.

BE-04: Clear & Byakuya Togami

Outside of classes, there's usually someone here, at least in the case of Clear. That gas-masked weirdo likes to hang around in the dorm, cleaning, cooking, or doing other chores in the meanwhile. It's notable that his side of the room - and perhaps Byakuya's, as well - is as pristine and clean as freshly-washed linen. He's a stickler for being tidy and helpful!

Byakuya's personal experience of the past couple weeks had been spending as much time in bed as possible. He had only been catballed for a short time, but it still somehow felt like he had fallen off a cliff. You'll find him with the covers all the way up, and if Clear was in the room with him, a pillow over his ears.

TD-10... but more than likely elsewhere: Isabelle

The dorm usually isn't inhabited, to be honest. Isabelle keeps on her feet most hours during the day and even early at night, up until 9 PM. From then on, she's found in her dorm, still doing leftover work from the day and doing routine dorm clean-up. She's quite the busybody, no matter where she is, but it doesn't make her that much more difficult to reach, thankfully!

In front of your dorm

Connor was making rounds and being a busy body too. We all busy bodies.

He was swishing a duster and doing those blasted light fixtures again. Doing it with no complaints what so ever. Unless if you left the dorm, it would be hard to even notice him.

TD-24 and elsewhere: Shadow the Hedgehog

When not at work, the location in which Shadow can be found depends. Some nights, he takes to keeping a watch on the school and the surrounding areas, glowing, Chaos-filled red eyes darting to and fro for any suspicious persons. Other nights, however, he takes it easy, resting either in the common room or his own dorm room with a book and some darjeeling. He doesn't quite like to be bothered, but, well... like it or not, he's very open for bugging.

CAFETERIA like we discussed

After having finally finished the massive mountain of paperwork for both her phys ed class and her position as a school nurse, Sister Hel was looking forward to lunch. She wasn't exactly a stranger to hard work, but everyone needed a little break. Plus, this could be a good way to get to know some of the other staff as well as the students. Not one to be picky where she sat, the nun took a random seat and sat down...right next to a certain fuzzy little grump.

Caim - TD-07 & Fencing Class

Caim tends to like his privacy, but the case has proven more than once that such a luxury is often lost within the academy.

He spends a good majority of his time in his classroom, working on curriculum for his students now that the new year has begun. How he wants to change things from the previous year, the limit to which he wants to push his pupils - a great deal goes into what Caim is looking to achieve. But he's always open to a random visit or private tutelage. The man is still good with a blade, after all.

When he's not in class, he's more often than not in his room. He has a lot to think about, with a missing Pikmin replaced by his two yellow ones, but not filling the hole in his heart. Caim may seem a little more solemn than normal. Or perhaps one could say he appears more human.

The fencing classroom was one that Naoya had, on an indulgent whim, peeked into before. With all the rampant excitement dying down and school starting up again, however, the programmer had once again grown restless with curiosity for new avenues he could poke his nose into. Why not take the opportunity to check up on how a fellow faculty member was doing with his class preparations?

With the signature clack of his sandals giving away his presence from as far away as down the hall, Naoya wandered by and poked his head in to give Caim a warm, "Good morning. How have we been faring?"

Eirika (and Furiae) - BW-07 / And Other Places

True that Eirika spends a good deal of her time on her studies. And if she isn't studying for school, then she's studying various rulers throughout history in an attempt to work on her own future queendom. She may be living in the present and hanging onto every moment, but a good deal of her attention is focused on the future.

She's also taken to examining the town with more attention to detail since the hostility appears to have faded. She favours the music shop - in hopes of obtaining a violin - and the tailor for tunic fittings and potentially custom made apparel. (As she still declines to wear the academy uniform, but sees little issue with wearing something akin to Magvel wear with the academy's emblem embroidered.)

And on the especially rare occasion, one may spot her coming from one of the jewelry stores, out on horseback, or practising her sword play in the clearing behind the main building for classrooms.

Ziio - Forest / Guidance Counselor's Office

She's made it apparent by now that her office is open during normal hours for the academy and she makes it a point to leave the door open when people wish to drop by for visitation.

Yet when she's not working, she pokes her head into various locations: the janitor's office, the classroom for a brilliant physicist, and the office for the academic advisor. But she's never there for long, just enough to make sure things are still in order before she continues along.

In the forest, Ziio's often in the trees, quickly moving from one to the other, setting up traps, ambushing animals, hunting, or simply taking quiet moments for herself. If you should manage to find her encampment, she's likely preparing for food, skinning, or perhaps working on making other pieces of decor - headdresses, necklaces, things that remind her of home.

Snake - TD-12 / Boxes 101 / A Bar

If one thought Snake was a busy man, he'd be wrong. Snake really has quite a laid-back lifestyle. In his own private time, he makes good use of his personal quarters, reading, smoking, whatever else might catch his fancy - which isn't much. And outside of faculty requirements, he spends a good deal of time at the bar, with a mostly full glass in hand.

But if he's drinking himself to oblivion, there's probably a good reason for it. Maybe.

In his classroom, it's usually full of cardboard boxes of all sizes. It seems over the summer, he got bored and basically made the interior of his room into a fortress of sorts. So it's somewhere between extreme art project and one really bored former mercenary. Whatever the case, he ended up liking it so much that he didn't bother to take it down.

It was probably a huge surprise for his students. Maybe. (Or maybe they expected something like that out of him.)

Ocelot found Snake in the bar, slightly surprised if only because the encounter was coincidence and not the product of his monitoring Snake's schedule and movements. He came there for a drink. But now he could stay there for the company, perhaps.

Spurs jangling in their usual rhythm, Ocelot approached from behind and clapped a hand down onto Snake's shoulder in a roughly friendly gesture. Respectful approaches and personal space issues were lessons he apparently skipped while growing up.

"Snake."

He looked over Snake's shoulder, smiling as he spotted the progress of his drinking.

AOI TIME (BW - 06 and THE LAKE)

Aoi is not in her room very often. As someone who cannot stand still, she is more likely to be found jogging around campus, outside on the quad, eating tiny pastries in the cafe, or swimming in the lake.

That last one is the most important one, because it's getting chilly outside, isn't it? But she's out there, doing laps and...oh.

Lately it seems as though she's made friends with Mr. Fish. This is something that definitely bears further investigation.

Cafe - any day

Tiny pastries? Why, those are Francine's favorite kinds of pastries!

Francine hadn't gone out of her way to chat it up with Aoi before, not having much of a desire to join her in jogging or swimming; about all she knew about her was that she was an underclassman that worked as the pool lifeguard. That didn't mean she was totally disinterested in Aoi, however. After all, if they were going to live in the same room for the year, they'd have to form some kind of friendship.

Shortly before noon, Francine was at the cafe, inspecting some of the sandwiches and desserts on sale. Her intention was to buy some to-go and save them to eat later in her room, but she would stick around to eat a few now for a light lunch.

FALCON - DAS AUTOSHOP

Falcon has sort of abandoned his office in favor of moving everything into the autoshop, including but not limited to his giant blue monstrosity death machine of a car, various and sundry personal projects, and a black motorcycle.

He seems to have made himself very comfortable in the garage, delegating a corner to a classroom area that, instead of desks, is furnished with a blackboard, carpet, squishy chairs, and the Captain's legendary office sofa.

ZELDA in AE-03 and also HALLWAYS

Zelda is here to attend to all your RA needs! Did you set the microwave on fire? Are there strange noises coming from your closets at night?

It's okay. Zelda will fix it.

The RA dorm is basically a big party room that often smells of pancakes. If you seek the princess and she is not in, Zelda is currently found decorating the hallways of the dorms for fall. This includes lots and lots of leaf garland.

In the HALLWAYS

Pit wasn't doing much, and he tried to tackle his homework like a good student so he could turn over a new leaf this year and improve his grades, but... just like last year, he found great difficulty doing any of it when he couldn't even read past a handful of common letters he'd managed to memorize. Jolt wasn't around to help him, so in his frustrations, he gave up for now and chose to blow off some steam by getting distracted with the world outside his dorm.

It only took a moment for one of the distractions he had been hoping for to catch his eye. Zelda was busying herself stringing up leaves. That's right! She liked to decorate the dormitories whenever a new season or holiday came up. Pleased by the welcoming sight, he strolled toward her and settled with watching her work for now.

"Watching you hang those up really reminds me that fall is around the corner," he commented, folding his hands behind his back. "I mean, besides the autumn chill that blows by every once in a while. I'm gonna freeze my feathers off, I can feel it!"

Gordon - TD-06 and Labs.

Gordon can sometimes be seen in his apartment, reading, making coffee, drinking coffee, making MORE coffee, and playing video games.

The last part is usually accompanied by dark chuckles and the kind of language you'd NEVER expect to hear from a twelve-year-old coming from the speakers.

His presence in the lab is more productive. Those with particularly bad timing will find him dealing with the monster of the week that have stumbled through his portals; anything from slimes to giant squid to wyverns in heat.

No one said finding his way back home would be easy, after all.

How she finds herself at his laboratory is mostly curiosity. There are plenty of places Ziio hasn't seen and to be fair, any opportunity to see Gordon when there's nothing hanging over them is usually one she should take. And if she has to be completely honest, the variety of things on her mind had to do with him.

So clearly spending more time with him would be beneficial.

Unsure of whether she can step in with him, however, she pokes her head in, looks about mostly guarded, and stays mostly put. "...Gordon? Are you in here somewhere?"

BE-03 - Sonny Moe and Mac Aroni

Now that Sonny can go into town again, he's a lot happier, which is nice! He's started taking Ukulele lessons and you might find him practicing that in his room. Otherwise, he's in the usual spots - cafeteria, napping outside, napping inside, cafeteria, napping in the cafeteria.

So, there's a wedding to plan, a friend to mourn, and if those two things sound quite opposed in terms of mood? You'd be right.

You may also find Knuckles in the autoshop or weight rooms, doing about what you'd expect in either place.

Ib - BW-11, possibly other places - OPEN

Now that classes have started Ib has to finish her homework before she can do anything else. She can be found laying on the floor of her dorm, her books spread out around her. It's mostly slow going since it doesn't take long before a word she doesn't know comes up in her reading.

Otherwise Ib can be found wandering around, maybe with a book in hand or else just looking for someone she knows.

Luckily, Ib had a room mate that was just so excited to share a room with someone, and even more so with a little girl that liked painting and reading. After a few months, the older girl had started to recognize when her more red-themed room mate was having issues with her reading, and took care to pause in what she was doing to lend a hand.

This was one of those times. "Is there one you're stuck on?"

detention office; outside; TD-17 • Ulki

More often than not, Ulki can be found either in his office connected to the detention dungeon room. If he's not there, he's even more likely to be spending his time outside in the forest - it's a lot quieter there.

If you want to catch him in his room, late evening to early morning is when to do it.

Rhys happened to cross paths with Ulki in the conjoined office next to the teacher's lounge on a quest for spare label tabs. What he saw was the hawk laguz staring intently at a piece of machinery: namely, the office printer.

"Oh, hello there, Ulki," Rhys chimed. "What have you got going on over there?"

BW-08: Blue and Blaze

Blaze could be found in her room, straightening up and organizing things, keeping her living area pristine. She was also working on plans to find the last Sol Emerald. She could also be found around campus quite a bit, often quiet and lost in thought.

BE-02: Red and R.O.B.

Now that R.O.B. was active, he was out and about campus again. He could be found patrolling as before, trying to keep an eye on the school, but with a more wary eye than before. Or he could be found in his dorm, where he spent his off hours and recharged.

Office: That Guy Everybody Hates

Eggman spent a lot of time in his office. He had to get ready for classes to start again, after all! I mean, it's not like he has a city to rule. At least not anymore.

Office: Goombella

Goombella was often at her apartment with Knuckles, but she could also be found at her office on campus, writing up notes, examining artifacts, and preparing for classes. Her office was quite the mess, too. Good luck finding anything there.

Just after her first archaeology class of the semester, that throwaway day of syllabi handed out and the breakdown of grading point by point when everyone knows they'll be curved anyway, Goombella gets a knock on her office door.

"Ah, Miss Goombella? It's me, Lucca Ashtear from this morning." Her voice comes muffled between quiet raps on the door.

BW-02: Watt and Daisy

Daisy could be found in her dorm playing video games, out in the greenhouse, or out on the field, practicing soccer.

BE-07: Pit and Jolt

Jolt could be found in his dorm, snacking and gaming. He spent a good deal of his time in the arena, training. His recent experience shook him and reminded him he had a long way to go if he was going to be strong enough that something like this never happened again.

Jon is currently intensely miserable after being a robot and hurting Riwane while a Robot. So, he has basically said 'Screw you guys - I'm going home' and his home is in the woods where he is a burden to no-one but the local wildlife and anyone who wants to track him down and put up with his current foul humor.
