Dorm Log: School's in session

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! September edition.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: The span of September 15th - 30th.
Warnings: HAHAHAHAHA.

Ripped off the last one and all its friends: Basically, here's how this works. We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind. It could be the common room or the student science lab or wherever. So how's that first week of school been treating you? How big's your pile of homework? Sure, you could be doing that. But why do that when you could decimate your friendships by playing a round of Giana Party 4? Host a girl's-only slumber party! Spy on a girl's-only slumber party! Dare someone to spend the night in the haunted dorm! Slip a (fake) love letter beneath that special someone's door! Etcetera, etcetera... I'm sure you can think of something to get your bad self up to.

Red accepted the food this time, dipping his hand in to take a chip without really knowing what he meant by a 'stronger'- until he bit into it and the taste clung soon enough to his mouth.

Oh.

He swallowed it down forcibly, and- well, he wasn't one to really share from Sasha's plate usually. He tried to not make a face (he did just a bit), a hand going over his mouth; he didn't know if maybe not eating anything so far that day made it stronger in taste or what.

... Regardless, he took a few more chips from the bag, deciding to go for them while his mouth was already at this point. And Sonny was right- he probably should get some food into him.

"They're so good." Sonny said. "They are one of my favorites. I also like their steak lovers and hot dog flavors of chip."

He held Red a little tighter in that one armed hug of his - honestly, he wasn't about to let go unless asked to.

"I think we need to figure out what to do now. I know Marie is probably still upset and I bet Sasha is too. I think Vinnie will be alright once you get to tal--or... you know. Once you can write down what happened and tell him you still love him."

Red wasn't about to move out of it either, though it caused him to shift awkwardly when he went to grab the pad and pen again after the mention of everyone, particular Vinnie, as it was just slightly at an awkward place from where he was now sat against Sonny.

He opened it to a fresh page, away from any of the other words, and wrote- Have you talked to Vinnie?

It was easier now for Sonny to catch him as he wrote, moving his legs up in to rest the pad against. He continued (after wiping his eyes with the back of his arm- thanks chips), Vinnie didn't say he didn't want to be family. That was a lie.

Sonny took the pad and read it before nodding emphatically.

"I did talk to him. He sent an email to the team to tell us about how things happened between him and... Other Guy." The last name was spoken with a growl. "He and I talked and we figured out that something really wrong must be happening with you but we didn't know what. I don't know what I would of done without talking to him, really... I was kind of... starting to get a little... The things he told me gave me back a little strength. A second wind!"

At least Sonny knew the truth. Red felt himself move his arms down his lap, the thoughts of more than just what he had put Sonny through sititng in his mind. Vinnie...

But Red went back to the pad, attempting to push them away to return back to the subject at hand- everyone. (Even if the venusaur had been part of that.)

Sasha's been staying with me. I don't how how Marie is. He was angry at me.

He paused. How much did Sonny even know about that? Anyone? There had been times when he had been cold to the wartortle in the presence of the others, but it went much further than that.

But was it just that? The tip of the pen wavered against the paper, as he tried to think. Marie was a concern; if left to himself, he would just withdraw. Red knew that. But there was a hesitance in asking Sonny to be the one to see if he was okay. How had things been between the two...?

Has everything been okay between you and Marie? Before this.

Red hadn't noticed anything peculiar, but he hadn't known to look out for anything then. But even though he was their trainer, how much of it was his place to intervene?

Sonny kind of shook his head. And kind of shrugged. And looked away and then looked back and you could tell that he felt guilty. In fact, the guilt was palpable in the very air around him.

"No. I don't know? I don't think he wants to talk to me that much. And I wanted to give him space? But also I didn't want things to be weird because of the whole thing with Voile so..."

Because, considering the situation? It had just been easier for the brothers to completely bypass any mention of it so it never got talked about and therefore couldn't widen the already present rift between them.

The actions were all a sort of answer before the actual answer. Red fiddled with the pen, turning it slowly and pressing his fingers against it. If he had remembered something back then, then maybe he could have spoken to the two of them, or at least have guessed there would be an uncomfortable situation between the two of them. Nobody had said anything about it to him- but then, that wasn't wrong of anybody. It wasn't his heart, nor his relationship.

Still, it was hard not to feel guilt towards it nonetheless. If he had known... But if he had known, likely- he would have been sitting here as he did now, barely having a clue of what to say or ask. Would he?

Well, there was maybe a place to start.

Do you want to talk about it?

Because that was what mattered. Now wasn't the time to force such a discussion, out of any. But if Sonny did...

"Do I?"

He was asking himself more than he was asking Red. He really hadn't talked about it to anyone completely. Little bits, here and there. But he was still bottling a lot up.

"...It's OK, Red. You know what? I would rather just concentrate on helping you feel better about everything." he eventually said, turning to face his trainer and smiling a little. "Because really? I just don't think things are going to work out really well with that whole thing and maybe I just need to... accept that."

Red looked up to Sonny, catching his smile and giving a sympathetic look in return. It really couldn't have been easy. And Red didn't know if to press it- well, even if he did, what could he say? There was no wrong party, from what he knew. Should Marie have kept away? But Voile had reciporated those feelings, and it would be unfair to put a sole blame on Marie. Or Voile. And it had been a year, nobody knew where Sonny had gone. And that wasn't Sonny's fault, either.

It was an unfortunate mess.

If you want to talk about anything, let me know. You've been through a lot. I'll be okay.

He added the last part, only because he didn't want Sonny to think he had to put him before himself.

"I'll let you know. I promise."

Really, it couldn't have happened to three worse people - None of them was assertive enough to make cut and dry decisions in these sorts of matters. None had the experience or knowledge required to know where to go from here. None of them had any desire to see the other two hurt or even inconvenienced and while all three probably knew at least roughly what they wanted? None of them knew how to get it without being contrary to who they were and what they wanted for those they loved.

It was frustrating for all involved.

But they'd figure it out eventually.

One would hope, at least.

Love liiives, what are they good for?

Maybe a lack of an assertive personality was what was causing problems for most people. Problems that would become unsolvable before long.

Red accepted Sonny's answer- he could only go by his word that he would- and sat quietly. The taste of the chips was still in the back of his throat. Spicy food was always tasted better after a while, once it was eaten.

He took to the writing pad again.

Do you want to do anything?

Not that Red would mind sitting around in silence. Maybe.

"I don't know. Not really? It's just nice to be with you again and to know that it's really truly you." he replied with a small shrug. Really? He didn't want to do much more than be in his trainer's presence.

"We could play some Woo if you wanted to? Or go get some lunch? Or watch TV?"

Red didn't particularly care for games or TV right at that moment. Getting something to eat beyond a few chips would've maybe been an idea- but he wasn't really hungry enough to want to go to the cafeteria (or enough to make him desire to). They could always make sure Sonny got plenty later on, though.

So for then, Red gave his head a small shake. Let's stay here. We can sleep if you get tired.

He added on the end, after a little thought- I've missed sleeping with you.

Your softness and snoring and rumbling and all of it.

Sonny read the note and nodded.

"OK! I could use a nap - we can just relax a little for the afternoon and go get some food later once we're awake."
