[ Truthfully, she wasn't very sure what she thought about it. How would it be? She couldn't imagine that either, but... seeing couldn't hurt, could it? Furiae put a hand briefly upon her chest though, a thought occurring to her. ]

I am not sure how engaging I may be, however... there is little to me.

Chiyo hastened when Red called out to her but stilled instantly at the mention of Voile. That's who they were talking about?

"Voile..." Chiyo felt a surge of anger in her chest. In spite of everything that had happened today, she was not about to let someone badmouth Voile. They had gone through a great ordeal together, and... and she'd like to believe they were true friends. She didn't want this mean Red to ruin that. Ever.

"Voile is not venom," she said forcefully, but not turning to look at them. She was now shaking in both fear and anger. Okay, sure, so she didn't know about Voile's love life, they hadn't exactly hung out together much, but they did agree to be friends forever, so that did count for something, right? But the more she thought about it, the more her heart started to sink.

...was it all a lie, too? Couldn't she believe in anything anymore? Still, she tried to hang onto this sliver of hope that there was some truth in their relationship.

"If anything, Voile is like the sweetest nectar...." she added quietly, returning back to her weak little self. "She is not like you say...."

No. Chiyo. No. No no no. Chiyo. Nooooo.

They had been so close to her making a clean getaway.

"Red. I don't want to sound mean - I love you, OK? I owe you a lot. But you don't know what you're talking about." Sonny replied quietly. There were few topics that could affect Sonny to the point of making him angry, but this conversation was starting to. He did his best to mask that, however. "You lost your memory and you don't know her as well as you could. Maybe she doesn't know what she wants? But that is OK. If she needs time to decide, I'm a patient guy and I'll wait as long as it takes."

And he would. Forever, if it came to that.

"Chiyo is right. Voile is very sweet. It isn't her fault I disappeared for a year. It's confusing for her. And for me. And for Marie, too. But keeping us apart isn't going to solve anything." He paused. "....Chiyo, maybe you should Go and see Voile. She's probably in the Library at this time of day. So if you Went There, you could probably see her. If you're Quick."

Oh god, Sonny. Really? That was the best covert suggestion you could manage? Really?

Ridiculous? No way. He was passing down an old family recipe he made up a few months ago.

...well, OK. So he was clowning a little for her benefit. It usually made her smile. And there was nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't mind if you didn't want to share. It's polite to share, but I think sometimes it's OK to be a little selfish. If you really, really want just one thing to yourself but you usually share everything else? I think... I think that's probably not so bad.

Yeah. If only the rest of life was as easy as wanting to hog all the mashed potatoes at dinner time.

"Oh? Hm... Yeah, I read something about that in one of these books..." He leafed through his notes quickly, picking out something where he jotted down notes about the new Fairy type. It was a newly-discovered type, and a bunch of Pokemon already fit the description. This study was kind of like studying taxonomy, wasn't it? Well, kind of.

"The fairy type, right? I'm so new to the Pokemon world, so it's all very new to me." He gave a genuine sheepish smile.

"Yay!" cheered Henry, clasping his hands together. At least, superficially, that meant that his roommate might be friendly with him. "Whether or not you reach a conclusion, I'll still do anything you'd like of me. I wouldn't wanna anger a prince, nya ha~"

She nodded slowly as she listened, thinking his words had some merit to them. She was usually pretty selfless, wasn't she? At least she tended to think she was. It was hard to say, however. She could only perceive herself with her eyes and not always the path before her was the true one. Funny how the eyes worked like that.

Hm. I'll have to be more selfless more often. That way I earn my right to being selfish with you. She gave a lighter smile as she eyed the snorlax closely, To be fair. If it were me, how much would you want to share?

She couldn't imagine it was much.

To remain still seemed safer. Hand upon the handle of her knife, she felt prepared. She had to be. She always had to be. Expecting the unexpected was a requirement and had been for as long as she could recall. From when she had been taught adaptability and survivability.

From a different tree, she could have seen Cyrus probably. Inevitably she could have if she moved amongst them the way she did back in Young America's forest by the valley. But the birds had to be observed first before she did any other thing. Just in the event that the situation became dangerous. She couldn't allow a mere man to distract her.

So to the birds her attention went instead.

A sense of urgency to go and see Voile to protect her rose up within Chiyo, but so did an annoyance towards Red grow from all his awful words. And then, there was also anxiety from the thought that Voile would also turn against her and completely disregard her help.

Ugh. Too many conflicting emotions were swimming through her mind, confusing her greatly. She was almost starting to lose her grasp on reality. Just what was real in her life anyway?

"Don't..." Chiyo begrudgingly pushed herself off the wall and wanted to stop Red, but the moment she started speaking, she started feeling nauseous - like Sonny had earlier. Chiyo had never once considered going against her trainers, so this sickening feeling now of wanting to go against Red... was that what'd it be like to go against a trainer? Even if he wasn't hers? But even so, Chiyo wanted to push on in spite of the increasing feeling of wanting to vomit. Then again, she probably wanted to vomit because of all the stress this present situation was causing her, too.

"Leave Voile alone. She isn't... worthless." After nearly choking those words out, Chiyo grew pale. If this situation didn't end soon, she may just seriously hurl or faint... or both.

Sonny Moe took in a deep breath and held it for a moment.

If anyone else had called Voile Worthless? If it had been anyone else.... He closed his eyes tight as he held his breath, hoping that when he opened them someone else would be standing there. Someone he could yell at and actually be angry with.

Of course, when his eyes opened and Red was the one standing there, still, and Chiyo was there and talking, still, he realized how hopeless his anger was. And it deflated as quickly as it had risen up, only to be replaced by a cold, hard lump in his stomach. He turned to look at Chiyo.

"You don't need to argue with Red, Chiyo." he said quietly. "It's OK. No-one is going to think badly of you if you just leave and go to see the nurse. Or if you go and find a friend to spend some time with? If Red wants to see Voile, we can go. But you don't have to come."

Because apparently being terrible at being subtle was still too subtle for Chiyo to get the idea that she should just do her best to get away to safety. And so Sonny threw subtlety to the wind and decided he'd just take the consequences for somewhat defying Red's wishes.

Well, that was actually a real life thing that was kind of sort of happening in his real life right now. He sort of WAS sharing, wasn't he? He certainly hadn't made any attempts not to at this point so it seemed kind of an unfair question. Or maybe it was more fair than he was willing to deal with right now and that was the problem?

Not much. he replied, rubbing his face on her shoulder again. ......not at all.

But it didn't really work like that for him right now due to the circumstances surrounding shared custody of her affections.

I guess I can be greedy sometimes.

She wished she could've yes. Could've said she had great power to protect others. But as it was, she didn't even have the power to protect herself. This made her want to cry some more, and curses. Being a water Pokemon meant she had an abundance of tears she could cry, even if she was in human form.

She turned away, no longer wanting to be a part of this mess. If today had to be compared to any other day, then it would be infinitely worse than her first day at Smash where she was anxiously running around in fright. Forcing her legs to move, she decided to listen to Sonny and just leave. Maybe if she just ignored Red, he'd just leave her alone. And she just wanted to go somewhere where she could be alone and sleep.

...and hopefully never wake up again. At least, not to this nightmare.

Where the heart is concerned, Sonny... I don't think that's greed.

She shifted - not away from him - to draw her knees up. After a few moments, she continued after figuring out what words she wanted to use. For not being a human, she felt like she'd adopted a lot of their ideals, or just understood them really well.

People who are in love shouldn't need to feel required to share their sentiments with others. Or those they're in love with, I suppose is what I mean to say. So like I said before. You're not greedy. Why would you think you are?

Her smile grew even more sincere. Daisy's defensive response was comforting, despite her lingering respect for the boy who had stranded her at prom.

"I suppose. I can't help but think he was just nervous," she admitted, shaking her head. She sighed. "Still, it wasn't exactly polite of him to... ditch me, I agree."

"....I don't THINK I love her." Sonny replied quietly. His breathing was heavy and his face red. "I'm IN love with her."

So far, he had only confided this in Voile herself and she had said she felt the same. There were mitigating factors of course but those two things were facts. He was in love with her and she was in love with him, and as much as Red THOUGHT Sonny might take him to her? He was wrong. Because frankly, the idea of Red grabbing Voile's hair or shoving her around as he'd done to Chiyo? Well. It would not only break his heart, but it would sorely, sorely test his loyalty to his trainer and he wasn't about to put himself in that situation.

"Red. Let's go and have some lunch. Maybe once you have something good in your stomach you'll feel better and stop acting so weird." he said, grabbing Red's hand, though gently. He knew full well that if he wanted to - if he really, truly wanted to - he could overpower Red.

However, the idea of raising a hand against the man he loved so much was repugnant at best and he felt like even more of a traitor for allowing himself to entertain the possibility.

Whoa. Was that a confession she heard just now? Sonny's declaration of his feeling towards Voile came as another great shock to Chiyo and was enough to make her pause in her steps once again. The thought of love possibly blossoming almost lifted away some of her nausea, but as she tried to take a peek at Sonny's face to see if his expression was sincere in saying that, her heart froze when she caught a glimpse of Red instead. That glare and tone he used with Sonny sent a horrid chill down her spine and reignited her steps. She quickly picked up the pace to haul her blue tail out of there.

She knew that look all too well. That was the look of somebody with the intent to do bodily harm and she did not want to be on the receiving end of it.

....because. I just do.

Because ever since he'd gotten back he'd been feeling things that were very unlike him. Things he would consider mean spirited or overly competitive where there really ought to have just been love. Because any time he thought about her and Marie it made him feel unhappy and clingy and things he rarely ever felt. Jealousy wasn't a brotherly emotion. What else could it be but greedy? As much as he tried to correct himself as soon as he realized what was going on, the fact remained that he was in the wrong to feel that way at all. At least, to his way of thinking, he was.

But he'd be better. He'd try, at least.

It's OK, though.

His explanation in itself was sort of obvious. She'd tried her very best not to pry into his feelings, partially because she was afraid of what she might find there. Always altruistic Sonny experiencing something that wasn't altruistic. The hearts of Pokemon and humans weren't entirely different things and she knew that, too.

If she were him, Voile couldn't say she wouldn't have felt the same way. Had... she ever experienced jealousy before?

I don't think it is, personally. Especially knowing she was the cause for it. It was probably very hard for him to even simply see her, but she wondered what would have hurt him more. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this, however.

Good. Chiyo was leaving. Red wasn't going to get a chance to go after her, either.

"Red. Let you go? I think someone needs a hug." replied Sonny, grabbing his trainer up in a big, warm, loving, but ultimately very confining bear hug.

"I don't know what's got you in such a bad mood, Red? But it's OK. I'm here now and I'm going to make sure the rest of your day is just great and you can start feeling like you again." he said quietly. "We'll go and eat some lunch, and we'll go to the stadium, and maybe you can read a book while I take my afternoon nap."

Because oh arceus he was going to have to sleep some time today. He felt exhausted.

I think so, too. But it's OK. We don't have to agree on everything, I don't think.

He gave a small sigh and again, nuzzled his big, flat face against her shoulder. No, they didn't have to agree on everything all the time. That was a given. They were different people and they had different ideas, even if those ideas often worked in concert with one another. So long as he could have this, right now. This moment of sunshine and attention from her? He should just concentrate on enjoying that much. That's all. Live for the moment, right?

No. That we don't. She agreed with a slight smile. Always agreeing makes things easy, but not that interesting. Our differences make me happy, even when we're disagreeing.

She settled back in against him gently. He had the right idea. She didn't know how many times they would have these moments together. She wanted to hold onto them for as long as she could, though. And she imagined he probably felt the same way.

Let me be nosy for a bit. Describe your ideal other half.

My ideal other half?

He thought about replying somewhat cheekily. 'Green hair, likes to wear frills, makes good poffins, is being hugged by me right now...' But in the end decided against it.

I think.... there's a lot to think about in that question, though? Too much to really even say. I mean, there are some basic things. Someone who doesn't mind how much I sleep and eat, because... well. You know. Someone who doesn't mind the kind of music I listen to or the kinds of things I like to watch on TV. Someone who I'm not afraid to act a little silly around. Because sometimes I like to be a little silly. Maybe you noticed?

Rhys smiled at what was always taken as a compliment to him, even though it was more of a positive statement. "Thank you! I do feel like I have a bit more spirit today. I love those days. They're my favorite."

Another leap in her heart and Chiyo found the strength to start running to the lake. There, she was in her element and if she could just get into the water, she knew she'd be fine. After all, she could turn into water if the situation called for it.

"What he needs is to learn a few lessons about how to treat his dates," Daisy remarked. But she stopped herself before she went on an angry rant. "All the same, I'm sorry things didn't go so well for you at prom!" If she knew who Peach's date was, she would have given the guy a piece of her mind. But she had a feeling Peach wouldn't want her to do that, so she resolved not to pry.

"Well, maybe I can do something to help out. How about we go get some ice cream?" she offered.
