Who: Hayato and his class and anyone who decided to tag along for funsies
What: A TROPICAL GETAWAY
When: A WEEKEND IN JANUARY.
Where: Isle Delfino
Suggested Listening: NO ESCAPE.
Winter sucks, right? Hayato sure thought so. Well, he didn't hate it, but after a month of cold and dark he decided it was high time for a change. While he could have easily done the selfish thing and fled the city for the entirety of winter break, he liked to consider himself a more generous man than that. Surely his students would love the chance to get away from winter for a few days, too. And if any staff happened to stow away for the trip, well, that was their decision.
So, under the guise of having a swimming class while the school's outdoor pool was out of use, our hero whisked everyone away to lovely Isle Delfino. Once plagued by darkness and vandalism, the whole island had since been kept clean and bright and shiny and boasted a number of tourist attractions. With the only real requirement for the gym class being to get at least some swimming in, there would be plenty of time to explore everything else. Between abandoned eggs that hatch water-soluble yoshis, a giant mall, human pachinko, an amusement park, and the hotel with an abundance of ghost stories, there's bound to be something to do.
All in all, not a bad way to ease in to the new semester. The hardcore classes could start next week, he promised, before setting his class free.

The Speedo Squad will NEVER make a comeback
At some point he might also be caught placing bets on some Kart races down in the square. Don't gamble, kids. That's for grown-ups with way too much cash to burn.

For the first day, at least, he could be found out on the beach in front of the hotel, swimming vigorously back and forth just beyond the shore. It was the closest equivalent to laps he could really do, but with the added challenge of being mindful of the current. More than once he looked back to the beach to find he'd drifted down a little further than he thought.
He wasn't in the water the whole time. He had to eat (and then let his food digest), after all. Or vocalize his disapproval of any classmates he saw who were clearly just loafing around instead of actually swimming. Or maybe he would eventually be convinced to get out and explore the island anyway.
On the first evening, as he took a dinner break, it was pretty clear by the stiff way he moved that he was both overworked and a little sunburned. He had also developed this habit of touching his hair, buzzed nice and short again for the first time in a year. But all of these things would go away sooner or later.
NOT REALLY HERE.........
We can just pretend that Sonny is a PhysEd student...
He could be found playing his Ukulele on the beach a lot of the time. Or splashing about in the waves in either of his forms - hey, it was nice to feel salt water in his short fur! And of course, anywhere there's food? There's a Snorlax - he'll buy your lunch! He has a job, you know.
He wasn't even worried about getting sunburned. He brought a whole bunch of Rawst berries with him!

As such, getting him to slow down and enjoy the scenery might be a little tricky.
He's here to practice swimming and that's pretty much exactly what he's going to do - battling the surf and sand, a lone warrior facing off against all of nature's beautiful cruelty! Though in all seriousness, he's a strong swimmer to begin with. He'll probably also be practicing other stuff, like carrying boulders around and digging tunnels in the sand.

Being the diligent student as she was, Mona could be found in the morning hours at the beach practicing her swimming as required by the course. When her arms and legs tired of treading laps in the waves, Mona would take a rest by leisurely walking down the beach in search of stray shells the surf tossed up.
Mona dedicated her time in the afternoon to take in the people and attractions Isle Delfino had to offer. With camera in hand like a tacky tourist, Mona roamed the sights in search for the perfect tableau to snap. The heart pounding excitement of the kart races to the liveliness of the amusement park, Mona the shutterbug was present and attentive for things that caught her eye. After Mona restrained herself from burning a hole through her wallet by purchasing new outfits, the mall even proved to be an interesting hot spot for her snapshots.
By evening Mona returned to the hotel beach to await snapping photos of the sunset. While she waited, she'd often stretch out of her sitting position to dip her toes in the water while her thoughts mused off in her own little world.

Being on a plane with an anxious hypochondriac rabbitman can't possibly go wrong!
Unfortunately, one of the problems with coming from a world where longbows are pretty much the pinnacle of technology means that you're not exactly going to know what a plane is, like Yarne didn't when he boarded it. He thought it was some kind of big car or something, which, while certainly scary, seemed like basically big metal horses? He could deal with those.
So, when he looked out the window and saw the ground slowly getting further and further away? Yeah, Yarne's going to start freaking out. Less than 5 minutes into the flight, everyone's going to be hearing him shouting "OH GODS, SOMEONE GET ME OFF THIS THING! RABBITS WEREN'T MEANT TO FLY!" followed by him getting out of his chair and running around in a panic, despite their being nowhere to go.

But she decided to start the trip off with a bang, and thus, clad in her one piece suit and a surfboard under her arm, she hit the beach to catch some waves. Did she know how to surf? A little! But no time like the present to practice!

He wasn't there to participate in the actual class, though. It was probably rare enough for him to actually show up properly as a student. So once they arrived at the island, Ecolo immediately took off to places not the beach, whether it be the amusement park going on all the rides, the volcano to explore, or the hotel as his shadowy self to do some ghostly scaring.
So much for completing the only requirement for class.

Naturally, he'd be at the beach most often, since this was for swimming. Though he'd never actually... been to the beach before. Oh god tides. Oh lord sun gotta bathe in sunscreen. Oh no there's something on his leg oh okay it's seaweed. Oh man there is sand in all sorts of places he doesn't want. Oh jeez sorry if he stepped on you while sunbathing he's not wearing glasses and things are hard to see.

He went out to the beach to enjoy the waves, and actually did some swimming. But he most enjoyed walking along the beach, enjoying the sights. He also stopped by the town to shop, finding souvenirs he wanted to send back home to Roll, Dr. Light, and Auto, not to mention things he thought Lucca would like as gifts. It still felt so surreal to think he had a girlfriend... But surreal in a good way. He felt just pure joy.

Nobody knows.
What we DID know is that while he slept, Vivian buried him in sand. Now his head was poking up out of the beach, and he couldn't move.
He was displeased by this.

LUAU
Shantae was there too, to dance the night away. She'd learned hula in preparation for this moment, and was there decked out in a grass skirt and wrap, shaking her hips to the beat.
Piantas were also handing out leis. Hope you like flowers.

And it helped that she was definitely more dressed for the environment.
Since she wasn't a part of the class, she took the first moment she could to sneak out of the crowd and find a remotely private section on the beach. To do what, though? Why, dance, of course. The sound of the crashing waves and the birds was just enough inspiration to let Olivia start practising new choreography. Sunlight brought about a kind of cheer that winter neglected to give the academy.

It was so far. But maybe that was the idea that she'd gone shopping for a new monokini. That was probably it.
She mostly hung out with the class like a good student was supposed to, but she wasn't against being quietly nosy around the other students or the amusement park. At least until she couldn't handle the plethora of empathic noise that was inevitably going to come up.
WELCOME TO THE HOTEL CALIF- DELFINO
The luxurious hotel was laid out rather simply, as long as you didn't, say, climb into the maze-like air ducts. who would possibly do such a thing, anyway. Lots of hot tubs and fancy decorations abound. And possibly ghosts!?!
The mood lighting paired with the setting sun made it juuuust dark enough for a certain creeper to stalk the ground without being spotted easily by random NPCs....
