Who: Hayato and his class and anyone who decided to tag along for funsies
What: A TROPICAL GETAWAY
When: A WEEKEND IN JANUARY.
Where: Isle Delfino
Suggested Listening: NO ESCAPE.
Winter sucks, right? Hayato sure thought so. Well, he didn't hate it, but after a month of cold and dark he decided it was high time for a change. While he could have easily done the selfish thing and fled the city for the entirety of winter break, he liked to consider himself a more generous man than that. Surely his students would love the chance to get away from winter for a few days, too. And if any staff happened to stow away for the trip, well, that was their decision.
So, under the guise of having a swimming class while the school's outdoor pool was out of use, our hero whisked everyone away to lovely Isle Delfino. Once plagued by darkness and vandalism, the whole island had since been kept clean and bright and shiny and boasted a number of tourist attractions. With the only real requirement for the gym class being to get at least some swimming in, there would be plenty of time to explore everything else. Between abandoned eggs that hatch water-soluble yoshis, a giant mall, human pachinko, an amusement park, and the hotel with an abundance of ghost stories, there's bound to be something to do.
All in all, not a bad way to ease in to the new semester. The hardcore classes could start next week, he promised, before setting his class free.

>WOULD YOU LIKE TO FILL OUT YOUR REGISTRATION CARD?
He smiled, and when Lucca had her boots on, he offered his hand to help her up. He was beaming happily and excitedly.
>YOU SURE?
"Hold on a sec."
When Rock turns around, Lucca has already pulled a strange star-topped wand from her bag and waves it at an occupied reach of sand. A strange, rippling purple sphere pops into view and she chucks her extra clothes into the portal almost haphazardly.
"Oh hey, is there anything you want to stow back at my dorm before we go?" She asks over her shoulder.
>YES
But it was so cool.
"You've got a portable link back to your dorm? Wow! That's gotta be really convenient!" Catching himself, he laughed a bit. "Ah, I don't have much to store, really... Um." Finally remembering the shell in his hand, he tossed it into the portal. "Well, there then!"
When they were done, he offered her his arm, smiling at her. "You're pretty full of surprises, you know," he commented happily.
>WELL OKAY THEN, I'LL ASK AGAIN TOMORROW.
>PLEASE ENJOY YOUR BOYFRIEND.EXE.
Rock was thoroughly impressed.
"I've got a teleporter, but it doesn't work over time, just distances. Of course it needs a transfer server to control the process. But that's pretty cool that you can fit something like that inside of a device that size!" he exclaimed.
He finally caught himself in his excitement and smiled sheepishly. "Heh... Sorry, I guess I got carried away," he apologized. He offered his arm. "Let's get going, the sooner we get back, the sooner we can hit the amusement park!"

She walks with him as they talk, and by the time they're back at the surf club lockers she'd relayed her buddy Crono's trip to the past to rescue their other friend, who turned out to be the princess of their kingdom.
...And also they had to rescue the queen in the past to make sure said princess was, you know, actually around to rescue.

As they walked, and Lucca regaled him with tales of time traveling adventures, Rock was thoroughly impressed. "You've had a really amazing adventure," he said, holding her hand along the way. "I'd really like to meet your friends one day! Do you still travel through time?"
no subject
"You can! I don't really travel through time a lot anymore. It's mostly to this world and back home, ever since we saved the world, we haven't had to go anywhere--uh, anywhen else!"
no subject
"Then maybe one time you can take me with you? I'd love to see where you live!" Rock replied as they returned to the locker room. "And even if you don't, the fact that you can at all is really cool still!"
Getting his key, Rock went to the locker that had his stuff and got out his street clothes, suitably short and tropical for the locale. "I'll be out in a minute, okay?" he said, going to change in some privacy.

Part of of her wonders why he doesn't just do that quick-change flash thing... oh hey wait, that must just be for his armor. Right.
By the time Rock returns, Lucca is not quite where he left her. She's Over there are the Shiny Cream stand, plucking an ice cream from the paw of its pianta proprietor. She turns and waves to him. "Hey, 'm over here!"

no subject
"Nice shirt! I got strawberries n' cream, and something for you too."
By this time the pianta has taken a very very VERY cold E-tank from the cannister and plugged it into what looked like a paint mixer behind him. Evidently that's because it WAS a paint mixer, and after a vigorous jostling the supercooled E-tank freeze is passed to Rock.
"Its super-refreshing, from what he told me... And super-conductive,so you might get a little bit of a rush."
no subject
"Something for me?" he asked, turning his attention to the pianta working with... Was that dry ice? When he was handed the can, he looked curiously at it. He'd never had an E-tank like this before, but if it was super refreshing... He lifted it to his lips and took a sip.
Wow. Was that what humans called brain freeze? It must have been. But it was so good...
"Whoa!" Rock replied, hand on his forehead. "That was a weird surge... But I kinda liked it!" Another sip, and this time the effect wasn't as bad. Perhaps because he was used to it and expecting it this time. "That's pretty good!" He turned back to the Pianta to thank him, and then back to Lucca with a big smile. "Thanks for thinking about he," he told her, dipping in to plant a happy kiss right smack on her lips.

She takes his hand in hers, the one that doesn't have a slushie that could freeze off digits, and walks with him, nibbling her ice cream.
"Oh hey, do you like roller coasters? I feel like I oughtta ask before we pay to go in."

"But I can handle a little speed and I'm not afraid of heights. Also I"ve read about them! The engineering that goes into them is amazing! To tell you the truth, I can't wait!"
no subject
no subject
"C'mon! Let's not waste any time!"
She heads for the big coaster nearby, wedging herself into the end of the line. "This is gonna be fun!"
no subject
"What about this one?" Rock said, pointing at one. "The description says the pirate ships go upside down!"
no subject
They shuffle much closer to the landing area for the coasters, close enough to hear the safety shelltop beep out the mandatory arms and legs inside the coaster at all times routine.
"So what else have you gotten into before we met at the beach? I was wondering what you were up to, actually."
no subject
"What was I doing? Well, I finished swimming practice, and was just taking in the sights. I was collecting sea shells, trying to find some nice ones to send back home. And, well..." he blushed a bit as he smiled, "I was trying to find you so we could spend some time together. Like a beach date."
no subject
"Here we go!" She adds, grabbing onto the safety bar.
no subject
He too gripped the coaster car as it started to rise, but one of his hands made sure to get closer to hold on to Lucca's hand as well, as the car crested the top of the first drop...

DOWN and then UP and then OVER and OVER and AROUND and AROUND they go, squealing happily the whole time. Well, Lucca's squealing happily, anyway. Even her arms are in the air, and it wasn't just to grab her glasses before they flew away... that was just once.
no subject
Needless to say, when they got off and saw the photos snapped of the ride, he looked far less composed than he thought he did.
