What: HOT SPRINGS: HOTEL EDITION
Where: The hot springs RESORT.
When: March 25th - March 29th
Warnings: Hotel shenanigans.

After a relatively normal bus ride, you find yourself at a secluded mountain resort.



The hotel is all-inclusive, with every manner of amenities and activities (skewed toward the relaxing--with saunas and spas and hot tubs aplenty) to keep one occupied for a full five days. Time for some much needed R & R.

It's dangerous to go alone. Take this!

Oh hey, there’s someone Tsubaki hasn’t seen before! Was she a new student? She had Smash’s uniform on, so surely she must be a student. For someone on vacation, she looked terribly grumpy and perhaps a bit lost. Were those textbooks she was lugging around? Maybe a helping hand would cheer her up a bit.

“Um... Excuse me, miss. Those books look heavy. Would you like some help?”

It was the second time he'd been offered assistance, even if they were both for different reasons. Still, it was something he was unaccustomed to - as a guy, nobody would have given him a second glance if he had a pile of textbooks unless it was to make a comment about how it was weird to have brought them on vacation. Not only that, but it was kind of his duty to be the one helping other people, wasn't it? He couldn't be the one being a burden on anyone else!

There sure was a noticeable difference in upper body strength since coming out of that spring, though. Hmm.

"Thank you for your offer, but I can handle this! But... please do not call me 'Miss.'"

Yeah that request was pretty inconspicuous.

As strange as it was seeing someone lug textbooks around during spring break, that wasn’t enough to stop Tsubaki from offering some assistance. If there was something she could do to help someone in need, she was going to do it. Still, the girl refused Tsubaki’s offer for help. That was fine; she wasn’t going to insist if the girl could handle it on her own. However, that request of hers was a little odd...

“Ah... I’m sorry.” Tsubaki bowed apologetically with a bit of hesitation. What was wrong with ‘miss’? It was only polite. She didn’t know the young woman’s name, after all. “Would you prefer ‘ma’am’?”

While Ishimaru was fluent enough in English to get the whole Miss/Ma'am/Mr. thing, actually hearing any of them used in reference to himself was pretty weird. Students didn't normally address each other that way, right?

"My name is Kiyotaka Ishimaru, so addressing me that way would be preferable!"

...Would he have to change his name to something more feminine if he couldn't find a way to fix this? SHOOT...

Alright, that was fine. If Tsubaki knew her name, she had no problem addressing her by it. But... why was she so against being called ‘miss’? She was a young lady, wasn’t she...?

“Kiyotaka?” Tsubaki tilted her head. That was a boy’s name, wasn’t it? No, that was fine. There was nothing wrong with a girl having a boy’s name, not at all. But still...

“Um... Pardon me, but... you are a girl, aren’t you?”

"Not... until very recently."

Hiding it seemed like a futile effort. People would figure it out back at school, anyway.

"Asking a question like that is strange, isn't it? Do you know something about this?"

...Not until recently? What exactly did she mean by that? Tsubaki fixed Ishimaru an odd look, tilting her head. Curious.

“I suppose, but you’re acting a bit strange yourself.”

Truthfully, she had no idea what was going on. As far as Tsubaki knew, Ishimaru was just a peculiar young woman, and perhaps a bit suspicious. Still, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to push for some information. Being a little nosy never hurt anyone.

“ ‘Not until recently’, you said. What do you mean by that?”
