THEY DID THE MASH
Who: ERRYBODY
What: CURSES
Where: ALL OVER THE SCHOOL
When: Halloween night through November 7th.
Warnings: 2spooky.
It was a dark and stormy night--
Well, no. It wasn't. In fact, it was rather cool and clear, a perfect October evening for the perfect October celebration. Stars winked above, the choice accompaniment to the orange moon looming overhead. Tonight. Tonight would be a party.

But just as the sun begins to set, the sound of cackling can be heard ringing through campus, the harbinger of what could only be described as Halloween Shenanigans.
Woe betide those that fell into her path.
[OOC: Here's your multi-purpose log for curse adventures! Refer to the event post for details. Please remember to label your threads with date/time/location/description, etc. and be sure to contact a mod if you have any questions!

"Y-You--!" He tried to yank himself away a little, enough to stay in his hug (which, on the bright side, he didn't horribly mind), but enough to keep away from his mitts. "It baffles me that I find reason to give a darn after this..."
...
Wait.
Wait a minute.
"... Darn."
No, wait! He meant to say 'damn'! No, that wasn't right!
"... Darn!!"
Oh. My.
Shadow stared at him with eyes bulging and expression bewildered. No. This curse, whatever it is, it-- it has inhibited his swearing, however rare. When he swore, it was filtered to something more child-friendly.
Why.

You know what? No. Shadow slumped his shoulders, having given up. There was a higher power at work here that he couldn't control, and he hated to admit, but there was nothing he could do about it. Not yet.
"Do you want me to bite you again?" Because he could.
no subject
Sonic kept him close this time, not wanting him to get away from the safe haven of strength and fur he had looped around him. He laid his head back down, gave his tail a to and fro, and sealed those emeralds away from the small flicker of moonlight that crept through the trees and illuminated them.

Finally, Shadow felt that they'd exacted enough vengeance on each other. He was tired, sick and tired, and he hoped he would wake up with some semblance of normalcy on his shoulders. He gave a stretch and a yawn, huddling up to his friend and pressing into the sanctuary of fur he provided.
...
"Goodnight, pup."
Not without mouthing that, at least.

The next morning came at a startling rate, Sonic having slept for what felt like a hundred years. He was groggy, disturbed by the strength of the Sun, and what shocked him further was how not even his transformation back into a hedgehog had stirred him awake. He had that lingering feeling of having woken up briefly, but Hell if he could recall it whatsoever.
He batted his lashes once or twice, grumbled under his breath at the idea of giving in to consciousness, then squeezed and curled his face into... whatever he was hugging onto.
no subject
Sonic happened to be hugging onto a very much larger, much more normal Ultimate Lifeform. Unfortunately, he also happened to be clinging to him in the sense of his face being practically buried into his chest fluff. Normally, Shadow would have reacted, yet now, he felt very, very positive. He was fine. That was brought to his attention immediately upon awakening, feeling his body to be much longer and heavier than his prior size.
Along with that, well...
Admittedly, this did feel nice. He wasn't about to admit to that, and thankfully, he didn't have to, given Sonic was still sleeping (so he thought).
So with that in mind, he smiled fondly, a hand dancing downward to trail over blue fur, softly stroking his forehead affectionately.
This was not something he would have opted for if he knew he was conscious.

It wasn't until Shadow initiated active contact did Sonic finally decide it was time to roll out of the forest bed for the day. He did plenty less rolling and more stretching his figure out, fingers dipping into waves of oil black spines and nose burrowing into the snow that laid carelessly upon it.
He peeked up through a hazy one-eyed gaze at Shadow, an quizzical expression on his morning face. When it occurred to him, however, that Shadow was pret-ty larger than he recalled, there was a moment of eye-opening panic.
"Woah!" Sonic shouted, scooting back from Shadow in absolute surprise. "... Oh," He laughed nervously once he looked between their two bodies. "For a second there I thought I shrunk!"
Oh.
no subject
Salty behavior was initiated at full swing. Shadow was not about to have that, and despite Sonic scooting away, he made it a point to grab his shoulders and push him back even further. He didn't even have to look at his own face to know that he was absolutely red.
It could not get any more awkward than this.
"Do not do that under any circumstance. Period."
Yet the way his face was more radiant than a strawberry spoke otherwise.

"Otherwise, you are a terrible mother dog. A shame I could not even nurse from you."
Of course, he was joking (because, I mean, ew??), but hopefully the inevitable reaction from Sonic would be worth it.
no subject
Given some thought, he took to shrugging it off. "Not effectively, anyway." GROSS. STOP, YOU TWO.
no subject
Well, he was hoping for something a little more substantial than that.
"Hmph. At any rate," began Shadow, dusting himself off from the grass and dirt in his fur, "now that I am at normal size, I have more important matters to focus on. That is, unless you are more prepared now to whelp and then feed your pups."
No.
They were never going to stop.

Fine, Sonic will give him a puzzled tick of an eyebrow before wrinkling his nose right out of his sight. He was done having his imagination corrupted by that imagery.
Sonic spent the same amount of time clearing himself of minuscule debris along the backs of his thighs, one shake of a tail and a dusting of his hands to complete the ritual. For spending a night in the forest with an old brat, it was, by far, the best sleep he'd had in weeks.
Shadow earned a smile in his direction and he may not even know why.
"Aaw, Shadow," Sonic started in, that content smile being smothered by the grin he was born to bear. "All this talk makes it sound like someone wants to be a soccer mom!"
no subject
...
That remark, though. That had Shadow twirling to face him, eyes sharp as those of an eagle, gaze as intense as that of a puma on the prowl. Excuse him, Sonic? What was that?
"And just what is that supposed to be mean?" He spoke with a soft growl under his tone, a very noticeable one. Was he implying that Shadow wanted to mother pups?
Wow. No.
He'd rather Chaos Control those babies into space before he did that.

Okay, conversation over. This was segwaying into plain stupidity from disgusting banter. As if Shadow needed more than a verbal retort, he flicked his hand out to swat at the offered one, grumpily sneering.
"Shut up."
Shadow the Hedgehog knew how to behave like an adult.
no subject
His response was initially nothing but a snort, withdrawing his palms and relaxing it against his hip. "You're right. You can't even take care of a Chao --" Which triggered a moment of concern along his features. He looked back toward the school and wondered what time it was.
"How's he been?" Sonic asked, voice just barely a feather kissing the wind. He hadn't seen much of... well, anyone. He had to leave their Chao with him, even though Sonic wasn't sure it was a good idea at the time.
no subject
Another standard in the life of the Ultimate Lifeform was catastrophe, such as the kind that a little Chao could wreak upon a room. Oh no.
"Alone."
That was all he muttered before he twirled to run off, yet he halted long enough to glare at him over his shoulder.
"You're coming with me." Who knows what he's done? He's been... who knows how long in that room, the whole, entire time he'd be tiny. That was very, very bad.
no subject
You know... the running, even if he had to tone it down a tad, was refreshing when he wasn't bent out of shape and exhausted.
As agitated as he was with the Chao being left to its own devices (despite it being out of both of their control), he was smiling at the rush of lava through his thighs and the smoke on his heels. That gripping and satisfying escalation of a natural power coursing through every tugging fabric of his build. It was joy personified inside the rush, bottled and shaken up and exploding with every turn at a corner brimming with opportunity to shine. Within and without, Sonic the Hedgehog was all the same, an integrity unmatched, no matter the challenge to his periphery.
He glanced over at the other hedgehog beside him, an urge to give him crap for his failures as fleeting as the moment one could have the blue blur himself in their sights. Ultimate Failure came to mind, but Sonic held his tongue. Just for now, he didn't want to say anything. He'd wait and see what he would do when they arrived.
no subject
With that, he sped up, waiting for his nagging rival to hurry up and be at his side, as he did tend to do. If anyone was going to be the mother, it was him. He certainly had enough maternal protectiveness for it, it seemed.
He didn't bother waiting for him as he leaped through the complex's doors, making a beeline up the stairs and hurriedly shuffling the keys from his spines. He popped the door open, and on the bed, right then and there...
Oh.
The Chao was perfectly fine, albeit a bit filthy, sleeping.
Shadow blinked in a clear stupor. How did he go seven days without eating?! Unless-
...
Unless all those scattered, empty pudding cups had something to do with it.
Fuck his life to pieces.
no subject
Sonic whistled as he peeked around the room, standing up behind Shadow with a smirk.
"Look what you've done," he started, gesturing to the barren cups cluttering up his floor. "You've raised a dessert-seeking monster on a path of sugary carnage."
no subject
Shadow was cut off in that instant, face ravaged by a little Chao clinging to his cheeks. The little guy had a... rocky relationship with his evil stepmom, that's for sure, but he was still so happy to see him. That, and he was kind of thankful for his pudding stash, too.
For that, he just stood there, hands balled up into fists, yet he took no action. He was sure that would just rile Sonic up, and frankly, he didn't feel like dealing with an angry hedgehog today. He just wanted to catch up on business-oriented matters and get back on track.
Kiiiind of hard to do that with a Chao clinging to his face, though. At least he was looking at Sonic now, the biggest possible grin on his face. Good, Chao, go cling to his face, too. Make it even.
no subject
I guess. The body language was clear, however, and Sonic stepped in closer to defuse the impending violence before it got out of hand. Y'know... Again. One hopefully pacifying touch to Shadow's shoulder and an outreached hand to the Chao later would be enough, at least as far as their little buddy was concerned, who was more than happy to say hello to Dad. Mom. Uncle. Whatever.
"Theeeere we go," he sang for its progress from Shadow's cheek to Sonic's forehead, using his arm like a slide to get there. Up, down, and plop! Right between the eyes.
no subject
"You," he gestured to his larger blue companion, "owe me that pudding's worth of money."
He paused, calculating the amount briefly in his mind as he scanned over the scattered trash littering his floor.
"That will come to about three-hundred-and-twenty rings."
Wait, what?
