THEY DID THE MASH
Who: ERRYBODY
What: CURSES
Where: ALL OVER THE SCHOOL
When: Halloween night through November 7th.
Warnings: 2spooky.
It was a dark and stormy night--
Well, no. It wasn't. In fact, it was rather cool and clear, a perfect October evening for the perfect October celebration. Stars winked above, the choice accompaniment to the orange moon looming overhead. Tonight. Tonight would be a party.

But just as the sun begins to set, the sound of cackling can be heard ringing through campus, the harbinger of what could only be described as Halloween Shenanigans.
Woe betide those that fell into her path.
[OOC: Here's your multi-purpose log for curse adventures! Refer to the event post for details. Please remember to label your threads with date/time/location/description, etc. and be sure to contact a mod if you have any questions!

I guess. The body language was clear, however, and Sonic stepped in closer to defuse the impending violence before it got out of hand. Y'know... Again. One hopefully pacifying touch to Shadow's shoulder and an outreached hand to the Chao later would be enough, at least as far as their little buddy was concerned, who was more than happy to say hello to Dad. Mom. Uncle. Whatever.
"Theeeere we go," he sang for its progress from Shadow's cheek to Sonic's forehead, using his arm like a slide to get there. Up, down, and plop! Right between the eyes.

"You," he gestured to his larger blue companion, "owe me that pudding's worth of money."
He paused, calculating the amount briefly in his mind as he scanned over the scattered trash littering his floor.
"That will come to about three-hundred-and-twenty rings."
Wait, what?
no subject
"A-aw, hey! C'mon, Shadow! Your pudding stash saved the little guy's life! Isn't that repayment enough?"
no subject
Shadow pondered for a moment, clearly taking into consideration how important this grave pudding issue was.
"Fine.
"Two-hundred-and-twenty rings."
no subject
Sonic withdrew the minimal contact he had with Shadow and crossed his arms against his chest. After a moment he bopped his fist into his palm and pointed at him.
"Zero rings!"
no subject
Oho, Sonic, no. Shadow knew him better than that. He could easily get 220 rings after a nice 5-minute run in the right place. Bull. Shit.
"Two-hundred-and-twenty rings. That is final. That is, unless..."
He flicked his hand in his direction, the most unimpressed look bubbling onto his face. "You are...
lazy."
Oh, he went there.

your socks."
no subject
His socks.
... Wait, what?
"What about them?" Shadow quirked a brow. What exactly was he going on about now?
no subject
Oh."If there's anythin' bigger than your pudding stash, it's your cynicism followed by your dirty socks shoved in the closet."
no subject
What.
"How," he slowly began, his face looking purely horrified. Sonic had breeched his privacy? Not only that, but he did so when he had laundry buildup?! "How do you know about that?"
It's not like Shadow wore dirty socks or anything! He just waited until the last clean pair before he went to the dry cleaner's. Chaos.
no subject
The Chao began to slide away down the back of Sonic's head until he was sprinting across the floor, heading right for the closet as if this needed immediate investigation.
"But I'm the last person y'need to be callin' lazy. Least I wash my socks every week."
no subject
Hey, little Chao, guess what you might find in that closet, by the way?
Look in that clothes hamper. Look at all those
Eggman's robotsdirty socks. How many pairs does he even have?!no subject
Once Sonic hears a door creak open, he can't help but immediately look toward the room door. That remained untouched, so bathroom and then - Ah-ha!
"Well, well! Would'ja look at that?"
LOOK AT ALL THOSE NASTY SOCKS, SON. The Chao plopped its green paw right down on its nonexistent nose.
ur gross, dadno subject
Of course, what else was also imperfect?
Piles of dirty socks. That's what.
"Those are being held in the correct container," he asserted, glaring daggers at them both. "They are not being handled lazily, such as haphazardly tossing them to the side. I fail to see your point."
Because dirty socks were unnatural, obviously. He couldn't bear to imagine if Sonic just left his lying around without a care. Ick...

"And you smell of filth and salt like any dog."
Oh, yes, he went there.
no subject
AND THEN THEY KISSEDlocking their sights together while Sonic just gave him a playful grin."Well, I did just spend like ten hours as one," he admitted fully, just trying to pull Shadow's tail now.
Meanwhile, the Chao was starting to tip the laundry basket over. Were those things toxic? Would they corrode the floor and kill the person on the floor below? Likely.
no subject
"And I just spent a full week as a small child, unable to accomplish anything, let alone important hygienic matters. You have no right to chastise me."
Those socks fell out of their keep all the while, toppling all over the poor little Chao, making it a victim of the worst laundry disaster ever. (The funeral will take place at the Flower Fields Gardens at 1PM SST (Smash Standard Time) on Tuesday, November 27th.)

Sometimes he was left to wonder just how far their friendship had come if they were still doing this, but in truth, it only asserted to Sonic that they had come a long way. It was hard to get angry after that.
He lifted a hand opposite to Shadow's hold on him, pressing his palm against his shoulder and tipping his head toward the closet. Not once did he break eye contact with him or let any unease cross through his exhales. It was easy when he didn't fear him at all. He was... comfortable.
"Can I get that? He's gonna die under there." Yeah, dude, he wasn't dead. YET. "Or mutate."
no subject
Was it him, or was it this hedgehog he so closely resembled?
He snapped back into reality upon his voice reaching his ears - so lax, so chill, so lighthearted - and he swore he felt something in his body melt. These little things left him both curious and perhaps even mildly afraid. Why did Sonic do all of this to him? What even was 'this'?
Words, Shadow. Speak words.
"Nnn," he sounded, blinking out of his stupor and hurriedly nodding. "Mm. We hardly need another biohazard."
Enough of that. He pulled his face away, yet not enough to tug his hand off of his shoulder. He wanted it to just stay... right there.
Or-- no. Ugh. What was he thinking?
no subject
At the closet and kneeling down, his tail swayed with each swipe to dig the Chao to fresh air. When Sonic found it under the unwashed mess, it laid there with eyes closed and breathing slow but steady. He just fell asleep. Or passed out. One of the two.
Earth's blue hero chuckled as he saved yet another life from filthy peril, carefully tucking his fingers under their little guy and lifting him up to his chest. He held him there like a child and the Chao? Well, he cuddled in close, cooing in the safety of a parent's arms. Man, he was cute.
Sonic addressed Shadow in a turn, lifting a finger up to his lips to assure silence for the napping kiddo.
no subject
What was it?
He tried to shake it off, trailing closely behind him to see how the Chao was faring. He could only imagine the chiding he'd received if the little guy had passed out, and lo and behold, he did, huddling up to Sonic as if he were his birth mother. That was just...
Okay, maybe it was kind of cute.
Kind of.
"Leave him in my bed. He can rest there."
Try as he might, he couldn't help but feel his lips tug at the sight. This Chao was simply darling. Ah, the innocent of youth. How he envied it.

Tucked in and patted on the head goodni--morning, Sonic had slipped to his knees so he had an excuse to rest his own head on a comfortable surface. He slept well, but it didn't fix all the damage weeks of insomnia had cost him. His ears dipped forward, eyes now unfocused but locked hazily onto their sleeping Chao.
no subject
Therefore, his answer was simple:
"Only if he bothers me to the point that I no longer give a damn."
He grunted, approaching Sonic from behind and eyeing him. Goodness. He never thought he'd see him so tuckered out so early in the day. He was usually so much more energetic and spunky. It was both mildly worrying and refreshing, truly. Peace and quiet.
He almost hoped it wouldn't last much longer.
"Stay still," was all he spoke before he softly stepped towards the closet, producing a very clean, very washed blanket. Ah, yes, his silky, burgundy one, one of his favorites. Should he bother letting Sonic dirty its beautiful, pristine surface with his filth, though?
Ah, why the hell not. He headed back over and draped the cover over his shoulders, fingertips brushing over them and his cheeks in his movement. He didn't move those hands of his, planting them firmly, yet soothingly where they were, all while he knelt down beside him. To see him like this, especially so close-up, made his brows knit further in his concern, his lids and ears suddenly heavy.
Yeah, he hoped this wouldn't last much longer, now in full.
"You're still tired." That should have come out as a question, yet he kept it as a factual statement, the slightest hint of worry in his tone. Of course he's exhausted. He'd been through so much, after all.
Soon. Hopefully, soon.
no subject
"We should name him," Sonic diverted, not wanting to discuss how weak he felt in this instance. "I think anyone would want a name, right?" He caught himself lingering on the memory of Chip and how he felt desperate before Sonic gave him something to identify with. It had calmed him, even if it was only a temporary bandage to a greater problem.
