THEY DID THE MASH
Who: ERRYBODY
What: CURSES
Where: ALL OVER THE SCHOOL
When: Halloween night through November 7th.
Warnings: 2spooky.
It was a dark and stormy night--
Well, no. It wasn't. In fact, it was rather cool and clear, a perfect October evening for the perfect October celebration. Stars winked above, the choice accompaniment to the orange moon looming overhead. Tonight. Tonight would be a party.

But just as the sun begins to set, the sound of cackling can be heard ringing through campus, the harbinger of what could only be described as Halloween Shenanigans.
Woe betide those that fell into her path.
[OOC: Here's your multi-purpose log for curse adventures! Refer to the event post for details. Please remember to label your threads with date/time/location/description, etc. and be sure to contact a mod if you have any questions!

AND THEN THEY KISSEDlocking their sights together while Sonic just gave him a playful grin."Well, I did just spend like ten hours as one," he admitted fully, just trying to pull Shadow's tail now.
Meanwhile, the Chao was starting to tip the laundry basket over. Were those things toxic? Would they corrode the floor and kill the person on the floor below? Likely.
no subject
"And I just spent a full week as a small child, unable to accomplish anything, let alone important hygienic matters. You have no right to chastise me."
Those socks fell out of their keep all the while, toppling all over the poor little Chao, making it a victim of the worst laundry disaster ever. (The funeral will take place at the Flower Fields Gardens at 1PM SST (Smash Standard Time) on Tuesday, November 27th.)

Sometimes he was left to wonder just how far their friendship had come if they were still doing this, but in truth, it only asserted to Sonic that they had come a long way. It was hard to get angry after that.
He lifted a hand opposite to Shadow's hold on him, pressing his palm against his shoulder and tipping his head toward the closet. Not once did he break eye contact with him or let any unease cross through his exhales. It was easy when he didn't fear him at all. He was... comfortable.
"Can I get that? He's gonna die under there." Yeah, dude, he wasn't dead. YET. "Or mutate."
no subject
Was it him, or was it this hedgehog he so closely resembled?
He snapped back into reality upon his voice reaching his ears - so lax, so chill, so lighthearted - and he swore he felt something in his body melt. These little things left him both curious and perhaps even mildly afraid. Why did Sonic do all of this to him? What even was 'this'?
Words, Shadow. Speak words.
"Nnn," he sounded, blinking out of his stupor and hurriedly nodding. "Mm. We hardly need another biohazard."
Enough of that. He pulled his face away, yet not enough to tug his hand off of his shoulder. He wanted it to just stay... right there.
Or-- no. Ugh. What was he thinking?
no subject
At the closet and kneeling down, his tail swayed with each swipe to dig the Chao to fresh air. When Sonic found it under the unwashed mess, it laid there with eyes closed and breathing slow but steady. He just fell asleep. Or passed out. One of the two.
Earth's blue hero chuckled as he saved yet another life from filthy peril, carefully tucking his fingers under their little guy and lifting him up to his chest. He held him there like a child and the Chao? Well, he cuddled in close, cooing in the safety of a parent's arms. Man, he was cute.
Sonic addressed Shadow in a turn, lifting a finger up to his lips to assure silence for the napping kiddo.
no subject
What was it?
He tried to shake it off, trailing closely behind him to see how the Chao was faring. He could only imagine the chiding he'd received if the little guy had passed out, and lo and behold, he did, huddling up to Sonic as if he were his birth mother. That was just...
Okay, maybe it was kind of cute.
Kind of.
"Leave him in my bed. He can rest there."
Try as he might, he couldn't help but feel his lips tug at the sight. This Chao was simply darling. Ah, the innocent of youth. How he envied it.

Tucked in and patted on the head goodni--morning, Sonic had slipped to his knees so he had an excuse to rest his own head on a comfortable surface. He slept well, but it didn't fix all the damage weeks of insomnia had cost him. His ears dipped forward, eyes now unfocused but locked hazily onto their sleeping Chao.
no subject
Therefore, his answer was simple:
"Only if he bothers me to the point that I no longer give a damn."
He grunted, approaching Sonic from behind and eyeing him. Goodness. He never thought he'd see him so tuckered out so early in the day. He was usually so much more energetic and spunky. It was both mildly worrying and refreshing, truly. Peace and quiet.
He almost hoped it wouldn't last much longer.
"Stay still," was all he spoke before he softly stepped towards the closet, producing a very clean, very washed blanket. Ah, yes, his silky, burgundy one, one of his favorites. Should he bother letting Sonic dirty its beautiful, pristine surface with his filth, though?
Ah, why the hell not. He headed back over and draped the cover over his shoulders, fingertips brushing over them and his cheeks in his movement. He didn't move those hands of his, planting them firmly, yet soothingly where they were, all while he knelt down beside him. To see him like this, especially so close-up, made his brows knit further in his concern, his lids and ears suddenly heavy.
Yeah, he hoped this wouldn't last much longer, now in full.
"You're still tired." That should have come out as a question, yet he kept it as a factual statement, the slightest hint of worry in his tone. Of course he's exhausted. He'd been through so much, after all.
Soon. Hopefully, soon.

"We should name him," Sonic diverted, not wanting to discuss how weak he felt in this instance. "I think anyone would want a name, right?" He caught himself lingering on the memory of Chip and how he felt desperate before Sonic gave him something to identify with. It had calmed him, even if it was only a temporary bandage to a greater problem.
no subject
Ergh. He made it a point to face away from him with that thought.
"Hn. I suppose."
He curled his fingers into the bedclothes, eyes melting shut as he attempted to think of something, anything, that sounded appealing. He didn't want to leave it up to Sonic. He was surely going to name it something ~*~radical~*~ like Jam the Chao, and he was not about to accept that.
"Think of something that sounds nice and refined." His eyes threatened to trail back to his companion, but he didn't allow that, keeping them firmly focused to the side. "Something akin to... Victor, perhaps. Ophelia. Juliette?"
Wow, Shadow, no.
no subject
A glistened bottom lip slipped away from its partner. The hesitation was simply a prelude to something Sonic didn't do very often: recollect.
"I ever tell ya 'bout a friend of mine named Chip?"
no subject
No, the name wasn't familiar for him. Despite that, what did this have to do with conventional Chao naming? That had absolutely nothing to do with it!
Shadow finally did look back at him in that moment, only for a few seconds, enough to glare at him with this look of pure disapproval.
"Isn't that irrelevant?"
Because seriously.
no subject
no subject
"Go on. I'm listening."
no subject
"This whole thing where I change at night's happened before. I tell ya that? Anyway, y'wouldn't know 'cause you're not where I'm from, so you wouldn't remember the entire world breaking apart. Heh heh," Sonic chuckled, too tired to consider how that was really not something to laugh about. There was some wonder if Shadow would nearly have a heart attack over the idea, but he continued on regardless, closing his eye and pulling away at the memories that he held dear.
"I met this little guy who couldn't remember anything about himself. I thought it was my fault since I, uh, kinda fell on him, but in the end, it wasn't." Was he trying his patience yet? "He liked..." Sonic yawned. "The Chocolate Chip Sundae Supreme. A lot. Like, he was seriously going crazy over it. So I called him Chip."
no subject
"I am judging the hell out of you right now."
Other than that, he listened quietly, carefully, albeit not without discomfort settling into his stomach. The idea of the planet he had to protect breaking into pieces was a nasty one. He had to remember this for his future, should he have to stop this himself. In fact, this made him all the more willing to hear him out, to see how this turmoil came to a close.
Shadow gave a very quiet sigh, facing him fully and leaning his head against the mattress himself. In that moment, he yawned - oh, did he ever - as Sonic's own was just naturally contagious.
"I see the relevance." At least there was that, but now he wanted to know more, more beyond just the subject of naming. "What happened to Earth? What broke it into pieces?" This didn't happen to have some sort of relation to this Chip creature, did it?
no subject
no subject
"No." He sternly glared at him, tapping his fingers against the mattress. "Keep going. What happened to the planet after it was torn asunder? What did you do?"
Huh.
Maybe Sugar was a kind of cute name, by the way.
Wait, no. Important matters. Right.

When blue eyelids began to lift again, they lacked the motivation to rise higher than midway. His words were a rope for his mind to trip over, giving Sonic a reason to express some sadness for only a moment. "Well, no," he retracted. "I helped, but Chip saved the world that time." Sonic smiled a little, previous sorrow vanished in an instant. "He saved me, too." And with that, Sonic had no reason to feel remorse. Chip did what he had to as Light Gaia. He gave everything for their world, always and forever.
Still. They would be friends until the end of Sonic's time, but even this hedgehog knew they'd never meet again.
no subject
"And... Chip," he carefully spoke after a momentary pause, his expression subtly tainted with worry. "What ever happened to him?"
Something wasn't right. Did Chip sacrifice himself to save Sonic's life? That wouldn't have exactly surprised him -- he could think of a few people who would do that
including himself-- but he kind of hoped that wasn't the case. He knew how that felt, and to undergo a tragedy like that...No one should have to go through that suffering. No one.
no subject
He simply didn't need to most of the time. Speaking only supplemented what he was good at: taking action. Though action was hardly the word here, Sonic's body language brought understanding in mounds.
"Chip?" Sonic echoed, eyes rolling back to Shadow from their Chao. "He went back to sleep."
no subject
"What is this Chip, anyway?" He entwined his fingers together, leaning heavily against the bed and feeling his lids gaining weight. He felt at peace with him, although with the small build-up of solemn expectancy in his chest, he kept wide awake to hear the conclusion.
Needless to say, he expected tragedy.
no subject
"He was someone... nervous," Sonic began, closing his eyes as the weight of his evening drew the curtains on his act. "A silly guy, helpful, but confused. He was kinda always lost and always hungry. Alwaaaaays hungry. Heheh." A soft sigh.
"He was Light Gaia. He was a part of something dark and dangerous but still really bright and protective. A guide, a hero, but more importantly..."
Those emeralds he had concealed carried a dim glow as those lids rose again, regarding Shadow as if Sonic had been speaking to a spirit deep within his companion's core.
"He was my friend."
no subject
He was never going to see him again, yet he still regarded him as friend, just as he did for Maria.
He sympathized, and albeit hesitantly for a second, he showed it, shuffling closer and nuzzling his nose up against his snout, tail twitching behind him. The smallest, sweetest hum came from him, something of comprehension, of deep understanding.
"Sonic..."
no subject
"...I knew you'd come back." Before he could add that nothing as annoying him Shadow could ever stay away, the burden on his energy was too great.
The subsequence of that lulled Sonic even further into a crawl until sleep was imminent. A hand was left on Shadow's lap where it fell back down, then gravity slipped it to the floor. His smile was eclipsed by a loss of consciousness and as the Sun only rose higher past the window, Sonic's body fell deeper into slumber.
