[open log] meteor shower

Who: Anyone!
What: Meteor shower time! SO INTENSE
Where: Anywhere you choose~
When: futuredated, Thursday, August 12th. Any time that's dark is good for seeing stars, 8 or later; it goes in to the early morning of the 13th, too.

Just as promised, tonight was going to be a night full of shooting stars.

From anywhere in Final Destination City, these beautiful streaks of light can be seen dashing across the sky. Why not use the night to take your date out and watch the stars together? Perhaps a new relationship could form. Or break. Maybe a wish could come true. The sky was simply stunning, and the weather allowed for a comfortable atmosphere. It's a nice night to go out and watch the night sky.

[[OOC: Go ahead and make your own character threads! Mark them with a time so people don't throw babies into 4 o'clock threads if they shouldn't be there. That'd be awesome. Go nuts. If you need some more information, I based it off of the Perseid meteor shower, so hopefully that could help you out.]]

Goose had to laugh at the idea, but honestly? Even then, it was what crossed his mind. Honestly, on one end, Goose was like Surge; he was not the religious type at all. He had never really believed in anything of the sort. He just believed in... well, really, exactly what Surge did. Deciding how his own future ought to be.

But really, he did feel like doing it. His inner child kind of cried out to him, and its hold was getting pretty strong. No, screw it. He was doing it.

"... Heh, y'know what? I'll do it, but on one condition. You've gotta do it with me," he told him, nudging at him with his shoulder. "C'mon, Matt, s'just for one night. I'll even tell ya what I wish for if you really wanna." Not that it really went with the whole phrase, 'if it's not secret, it won't come true', but he didn't really believe in that, now did he?

"It won't come true if you tell someone 'bout your wish." Even if Goose had been thinking the same thing, Surge just felt the need to remind the younger man. It felt childish to say such an obvious thing, but the whole idea of two grown men wishing on stars was even more childish.

"Hm," Surge thoughtfully hummed. "I wouldn't even know what to wish for. I've already got everything that I could ever want," he shot the pilot a cheesy grin. It was a bit overly romantic, even for the lieutenant's standards, but the atmosphere of the evening was starting to get to him.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Surge. Surge, that was so incredibly corny. That was amazingly cheesy, but boy, did it ever genuinely light Goose's face up like nothing ever could. How could anyone else ever give him a smile like that? No, only Surge could. As much as Goose denied any and all sappiness from him, he had to admit that made him feel very good!

"Heh, y'know what? You've got a point. Hell," he began to speak, no longer able to resist just flinging his arms about him. Screw the food for another minute or two. He liked this! "Heh, dunno what else I'd want 'cept for what I've got right here."

No, but he had the perfect wish. It was admittedly extremely freaking cheesy, but he'd roll with it. He looked up to the meteors, a small laugh slipping through his lips.

He then shut his eyes briefly.

"... but hell? I'm wishin' for something anyway. Not that it ain't related or nothing like that." So sappy, oh god. But so true. What was this wish now?

He wished for him and Surge to grow old together.

Well, for him to be this sappy was a rarity (not that he wasn't regularly at least somewhat lovey-dovey with his to-be-husband, obviously), so it wouldn't hurt to think those kinds of things tonight to get it out of his system.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it was really cheesy. But based on Goose's clingy reaction, it had been the right response. He squeezed the pilot in return, a small smile replacing his grin.

Surge was tempted to ask what Goose had wished for. But then he remembered that they both had to make wishes. Taking a deep breath, he too closed his eyes.

I wish that the wedding will go well.

Alright, that was enough kissy-goo-goo for both of them. The grin returned. "C'mon, let's eat."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Goose could deal with ending the mushy-gushies RIGHT there, yes. The widest grin came up on his face. "Heh, yeah, you've got it. I'm starvin'!"

He picked the bowls back up and set them up in front of them, one for him and one for Surge. Both the bowls and the forks were plastic, obviously, and maybe American-flag patterned in the case of Goose's oh god. He reached over for the potatoes and helped himself to that first.

"Y'know, s'been a while since I had a picnic or something," he recalled. He hadn't gone on one in... honestly, a long time. "Heh, unless that ol' camping trip we took counts, but I 'unno about that. Kinda makes me wish I brought dessert, though."

Maybe he would head out of the park and grab something to bring back to Surge later. Delicious sweets, they were delicious. Remembering that camping trip made him think of s'mores, thus explaining the sudden appearance of his sweet tooth.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Surge started piling on the food in his own bowl. "I can't remember the last time I went on a picnic either. A long time ago, probably."

Goose didn't bring dessert? Goose. The guy with the sweet tooth. Seriously? "Wow. Color me surprised. I would've thought you of all people would bring dessert." He shrugged. "But I guess if it's still early enough, we can get ice cream or something downtown."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Goose had to laugh at Surge's obvious shock. "Well, eh... I was kinda too excited to remember to bring that stuff around," he sheepishly admitted, scooping up some of the casserole into his bowl. He seemed to especially dig out a good amount of that. He really loved casserole.

"S'alright, we can grab a coupla' cones when we're done here," he decided. "'Sides, we need to dig in."

Goose then shot a bit of a playful, if not slightly douchey grin. "Or am I gonna hafta' feed you?"

Feeding each other under the stars... huh. That just felt really, really corny, even if Goose was just mildly joking. Although honestly he wouldn't oppose to it happening or not.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that was where Surge drew the line. "Ha ha, I think I'll have to pass on that one. Thanks though," he shook his head.

Taking a bite of the food, the lieutenant nodded in approval. "It's good," he replied.

Despite the previous cheesy conversation, the atmosphere and the food was setting up a rather comfortable evening. Surge was really starting to enjoy himself.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Goose rolled his eyes, completely expecting that answer. He didn't mind at all, though, of course. It was a pretty corny thing to do, after all.

"Heh, ain't it? Can't ever get much better than my momma's recipes." He then paused. "... 'Cause I couldn't make food like this without some kinda recipe." Sadly enough, he really couldn't. Apart from recipe-snatching, he was honestly not a very good cook at all.

"Didn't your momma over cook a lot? Or hell, your pops?" He wondered. "Hell, I dunno much 'bout your parents." He was immensely curious as to how they were, what they were like, what they did, if they would approve of him oh god--.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh goody, questions about his parents. Not that Surge was surprised. He barely spoke about his parents, so it would only make sense that Goose was curious.

He shrugged and continued eating. "Yeah, my mom cooked. Dad was more of a grill guy. Neither of them were exactly chefs or anything. But it was edible."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
A grill guy? Goose had to admit that this intrigued him a tad. His parents... never really cared about grilling at all. It was all just roasting, baking, steam-cooking, and other such things, the typical Southern way.

"Heh, really? I never got to eat much barbecue growin' up," he had to admit. "Closest I had was baked barbecue sauce chicken, but eh, ain't really the same, I guess."

Then an idea popped into his head. "... Y'know what? Maybe we oughta try grillin' sometime." There was probably room on the roof for a nice grill, right? It could be fun doing something like that, he believed.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Surge quirked an eyebrow. Well, different places had different food culture, he supposed.

"Sure, that could be fun." He considered the idea. "We'd have to buy a grill. Decide on gas or charcoal. But I wouldn't mind." Chuckling, he added, "Hell, I wouldn't mind cookin' if that were the case."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Now Surge grilling highly interested him. Goose could remember having been a bit harsh about his expectations about his fiance's cooking in previous days, but it always seemed to wind up good enough. That, coupled with the fact that Surge had been around his grilling dad before, well, surely he'd take to it a little better, right? That was just what the pilot believed.

Besides, he did really want to try out some authentic American barbecue.

"Heeeeeey, yeah, you oughta try cookin' on it first," suggested the pilot, chewing on his casserole. "Dunno about you, but I think you'd be a hell of a grillin' guy. Whaddya think about charcoal? Heh, considerin' this city-" Oh god, this city. "-it'd probably be safer. Dunno if we'll have more aliens just settin' the gas tank aflame."

A... ha... ha... ha. Okay, no, he visibly cringed. That was not a pleasant thought.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
... Goose. Why was... That didn't... What were you even...

No. Never mind. Surge didn't want to know the thought process that went into that comment. Or the fact that knowing this place, it could actually happen.

"Uh, yeah... So... Charcoal it is, then..." A pause. "Just don't expect too much from me. I can grill hot dogs and hamburgers, maybe steak... Don't know too much 'bout anything else. Probably would have to look up some recipes, dependin' on what you wanted."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Surge, Goose was just Goose. Hopefully you are at least somewhat used to this by now.

"Psht, I don't give a damn, so long as you can grill anythin'!" The pilot laughed, finishing up his bowl of casserole. There was only a little blob of mashed potatoes with gravy left that he needed to finish. Once Surge was done, maybe they could grab two ice creams and then come back to watch more of the meteor shower.

"'Sides, I'd be fine with just hamburgers for now, or... hell, maybe we can try out makin' ribs?" His smile widened at the thought. Barbecued ribs! That sounded just superb!

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Finishing off the last of his food, Surge took another swig of his beer. "I guess ribs could work." They'd have to buy barbecue sauce. Or maybe a rub. Now the lieutenant was starting to get ideas.

"Heh, gotta say, now you've got me thinkin' 'bout it," he shook his head. With one last sip of beer, he started to pack up. "So, how 'bout that ice cream?"

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Goose halted in his eating for a brief moment and looked to Surge when he mentioned ice cream. That ice cream oh boy. Yes, Goose was definitely ready.

Okay, no he was not. He still had a small mound of potatoes left. There was just one thing left to do. He shoved it all in and shoveled it down fast. By fast, I mean... lightning fast. Pun intended? M-Mebbe.

"Mmph! Mmmmphhhuhhh--" Oh. Swallow, Goose, swallow. "Mm! Heh, ready!"

What manners.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Surge snickered at Goose's food antics. "You could've just said 'no.' I would've waited."

Shaking his head, the lieutenant should've figured Goose would react that way to the offer of dessert. Now let's see, where was there an ice cream place nearby? "I think there was one... over there," he mumbled to himself, looking towards the side of the park.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Goose glanced over, and... well, no, he couldn't really notice the ice cream place right away. He had to dip his shades downward just to get any notice of a little, quaint place with a classic oldies appearance. Ice cream shoppe. BINGO.

"Heh, yeah, there it is. C'mon!"

Goose lifted himself up from the ground and rushed forward, looking back for his fiance to follow. "What kind are ya getting? Heh, betcha can't guess what I'll get."

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Key Lime, assumin' they have it," Surge replied without missing a beat. He stood up and followed behind the pilot.

He shrugged, thinking about the question. "Not sure what I want. Guess it'll depend on what they have. Though I could go for some mint chip." It was a bit boring, but the lieutenant liked it nonetheless.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Surge knew him all too well. How completely expected. Goose let a grin slip across his wonky little features. "Heh! Thought you'd be able to guess. Mint chip, though? Never woulda' thought you'd grab that. I thought maybe pistachio or somethin' like that." He did recall how Surge wasn't as partial to sweets. Pistachio wasn't the sweetest thing out there. The pilot just... tried to put two and two together and probably failed.

It only took a quick minute or two to even reach the ice cream place. It was... pretty cute and classic, much like soda pop fountains of the way-back-when years. It was a nice retro take on an ice cream shop, and it honestly intrigued the pilot. So this was what his parents probably grew up around? Huh.

"Lessee... heh, whaddya know, looks like they've got sherbet, after all," the man stated almost triumphantly. Favorite flavor get.

Now here was to hoping this ice cream man wasn't going to be a strange one serving them. That one extremely fabulous one was kind of terrifying.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pistachio? Yeah, sometimes. I dunno, I'm just not in the mood for it tonight," he shrugged. Opening the door, he let the pilot walk in first.

Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, the strange ice cream man wasn't working today. Instead, they had an extremely disgruntled woman sitting at the counter. As the two men entered, she shot them a bored glare. "What do you want?"

Surge bristled at the rudeness, but didn't say anything. "You go first," he nodded at Goose. He stared at the case, still deciding on a flavor.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that wasn't the most pleasant thing to be greeted by. Unlike Surge, however, Goose was a little more outwardly blunt. "Damn, lady, you on PMS or somethin'?"

That questioning just received a very harsh glare from the woman. The pilot let out a 'pssht', seeming relatively unfazed by the lady's cold demeanor. After Vashta, he was mildly used to it.

"'Kay, look, I want a key lime sorbet, and he wants... eh, Matt? Whaddya want?" He looked to him, glancing down at the case straight afterward. They had so many good flavors, but he sure had a hankering for-...

And then he saw it. Orange cream ice cream. Orange sherbet mixed with vanilla ice cream? How could you ever go wrong?

"... Y'know what? Never mind. Make that an orange cream." So much for being so solid on key lime tonight. He wouldn't mind a change of pace.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasstrenches.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Goose, you just couldn't keep your mouth shut, could you? At least the pilot hadn't continued. The last thing Surge wanted was to make a scene in public.

He quirked an eyebrow at Goose's change of mind. Not that he could blame the pilot. Having something different was nice every once in a while. Speaking of having something different...

"I'll have the sea salt ice cream." The lieutenant had to admit, he was curious. Plus, it didn't sound overly sweet. Hopefully it would be good.

Re: Around 9 PM, the park

[identity profile] badasscopters.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
As the woman rambled furious ramblings underneath her breath, serving the two their scoops, Goose could only make a face. It wasn't at the woman this time. It was not even in any relation to her grating mood. No, it was actually in relation to his fiance.

Or well, more like his fiance's choice of ice cream.

"Sea salt?" The pilot questioned, obvious disgust etched on his face. "Dunno 'bout you, Matt, that ain't sounding right. You're sure you want it?" This was not the kind of ice cream Goose could really roll with, but if Surge was positively sure...
