[open log] meteor shower

What: Meteor shower time! SO INTENSE
Where: Anywhere you choose~
When: futuredated, Thursday, August 12th. Any time that's dark is good for seeing stars, 8 or later; it goes in to the early morning of the 13th, too.

Just as promised, tonight was going to be a night full of shooting stars.

From anywhere in Final Destination City, these beautiful streaks of light can be seen dashing across the sky. Why not use the night to take your date out and watch the stars together? Perhaps a new relationship could form. Or break. Maybe a wish could come true. The sky was simply stunning, and the weather allowed for a comfortable atmosphere. It's a nice night to go out and watch the night sky.

[[OOC: Go ahead and make your own character threads! Mark them with a time so people don't throw babies into 4 o'clock threads if they shouldn't be there. That'd be awesome. Go nuts. If you need some more information, I based it off of the Perseid meteor shower, so hopefully that could help you out.]]

Pit wondered at how Selene could have possibly gone her life without laying eye on at least one meteor shower. He renewed his smile and replied, "I would love to!" and hopped on over to stand side by side, head nodded skyward.

As if on cue, one of the foretold meteors flashed across the entrancing expanse. "Aaaah, did you see it?" he asked with a point. His eyes pried the sky for more.

Selene glanced back over to him as he stood by her side, a smile lining her face. She didn't keep her gaze on him for long, though, and averted back to the sky, just a second after Pit had flipped his head over.

A second too late, sadly, for she missed one of the meteors. What a shame. "Oh, I fear I did not," she spoke with dismay, but almost as if the heavens felt absolutely sympathetic for her, another one shot across the sky, illuminating its trail behind it. "Oho~! There is one. You did see that one, did you?"

Actually, she was a bit curious. "Have you yourself seen a meteor shower before?" Was this his first, too? It could have been!

"Yeah, I saw it!" he cried on a breath.

"Many!" he replied to her question. "They happen often, but not too often. That's why it's a special treat. People below make wishes on them, and angels will try to catch the shooting stars and turn them into wishes. Then, their favorite wish gets turned true."

That was... absolutely adorable, Selene thought. So people making wishes on shooting stars actually was possible to turn fruitful! She believed that was the case from day one, sure, but to have it confirmed in stone for her was incredible.

"Truly? Would an angel possibly catch my wish if I were to attempt a wish now? And are other angels able to make wishes?" She was very curious now!

"If they like it!" he chirped with two ecstatic flips of his wings. "All angels can make wishes... that is, if they can catch a falling star."

Selene wondered if the angels would like her wish, the one that she was pretty curious about achieving. However, there was one question that still lingered in her mind. Clearly it required asking.

"Ah yes, that claim that wishes that are not made secret shall never be granted, well... is this superstition true?" She would enjoy telling Pit her wish once she made it and hoped for a kind angel to make it a reality!

A half-giggle, half musing hum slipped through his lips. "No, that's not true. You can always share your wishes with your friends."

"Splendid," she spoke, her eyes on the stars above and her face directly pointed for the high-up sky. Selene proceeded to clasp her hands together, shut her eyes softly, and let the wish run through her lips.

"I wish to go to the moon one day."

It was quietly spoken, yet still audible and perhaps even legible. Pit could have heard it if he listened well enough.

He did. A gentle smile overcame his lips. Such a pure and simple wish, full of the promise of adventure and discovery. It was something he would definitely look to grant, had he captured a plummeting wish of his own.

"Selene," he whispered, placing a hand on her shoulder with care, "if I had a wishing star, I'd send you to the moon." The promise made his chest feel warm just by saying it.

And that was equally as pure and sweet of a reply. The idea of an angel like Pit granting her that wish of hers was already an uplifting thought, one that she wouldn't want to pass up. If only it were possible right here and now, but alas. The thought still counted for something, however. There was no doubting that.

"Why, thank you~" She gratefully replied, her hand subconsciously moving for his shoulder. "Would you want to make a wish tonight? What might it be?" Well, if he wanted to make one, that is.

She returned the gesture! Maybe his cheeks grew a little warmer at that?

"My wish..." He paused for a moment to think about his wish. It was just as simple and straightforward as hers, he thought. "I did make a wish, once. Okay, maybe more than once, but this is recent! I still want it to come true. Whenever the ones I care about are in trouble, I want to have the power and courage to save them from anything. It's a big wish, but I think if I work hard enough to be a stronger angel, I can grant the wish all on my own." He thought about his big collection of friends he made over the past year, and of familiar faces in Angel Land, Palutena's most resplendent in his mind. That is definitely what he wanted, no more questions asked.

That wish carried an abundance of determination with its own hint of innocence coursing throughout. He seemed so wanting to defend others with not a second thought put to his mind, to throw himself out into the world to protect those he cares about. Selene had to admire that. She felt that she could sympathize with the feeling, the longing for something like that. She always felt that need herself.

She inhaled deeply, her lips tugging into a smile as he spoke of his wish. Pit's attitude about this was an inspiration all in itself. "My, you seem to want nothing more than this, do you not? Do you not also know that I wish to do this?" She rested her body backwards just slightly, resting her palms on the concrete behind her. The sky was so, so infinitive to her. "It is a most realistic wish, as well~ Certainly we can both achieve such a thing, yes? Do you not practice your fighting often as I do?"

"Yes. I practice every day." He too leaned back a ways, wings fanning out behind him. His voice was soft. "You don't need to worry about the reality of a wish like this. All my life I've wanted just to be stronger. I tried so hard when I was younger, but no matter how much I strained, almost no good seemed to come out of it. I was encouraged some, bullied some, but in the end, I got a lot stronger. Anybody, no matter who they are, can make themselves better, no matter how impossible it seems." He offered her a sideways smile, conviction almost searing the dark around his reflective eyes.

At this moment, he felt nearer to Selene than he ever did before. "The strength to protect those who need you... is a typical angel's dream. You can definitely achieve that same dream if you just believe. Especially with the support of really good friends! I refuse to believe anything is impossible." As if confirming Pit's words, a falling star ripped through the heavens.

Pit was right. There was never anything unachievable or impossible. When it came to almost anything in the world, there was at least a 0.001% chance of making it real. Smash Academy proved this to her so much from how even unreality became real in this land. Creatures she didn't even know existed called this place their home, the magic was more fantastical, the atmosphere was so new... it really spoke volumes to her.

Final Destination. This was her Final Destination, wasn't it? Huh.

"I am sure if we were to both work together, we would be able to become much stronger," she believed. Selene found a consoling wisdom in her own words. If they both tried their best and supported each other, there was no way anything could stand in their way. "It seems you have gone through very much, and yet you still are strong. I most admire that~ You are a very strong young man, and I hope to be equally as strong."

In a way, Selene actually looked up to him. She wanted to have just as much willpower as he.

"Ahahahee..." he laughed sheepishly. "Going through many things makes someone stronger whether they want to or not. Thank you! You know, I love the way you sound right now. You sound so sure of yourself! It really makes me want to believe in you.

"We will grow stronger... together!"

Those remarks made it feel as if-... perhaps Pit also looked up to her? Selene wasn't sure about that, but wouldn't it be funny if he did? They'd look up to each other. That was a bit of an amusing and comforting thought. What a mix.

She nodded, watching the meteors streak through the sky in a wondrous way, leaving trails of pure white wherever they dove. "Indeed~ One must be optimistic to hold on to their strength, would you not believe? I aspire to learn more of the universe around me, as well, and I must look to my goal with high hopes."

"You always have to leave room for better things to come," he agreed. Not entirely sure if it was in his place to do so or if she wouldn't be too startled by it, he carefully slanted his body so that his head leaned against her shoulder. "I'm glad you think so, too."

This moment couldn't have been any sweeter. The love that friends held for each other... it was so wonderful! She was grateful to know people so friendly. It made this night all the more enjoyable for Selene.

By now, though, it was getting to be a tad late. Even a fairy of the moon needed her beauty rest. She yawned softly, and murmured, "Ah, do you suppose we should go rest now? It feels like it must be quite late."

"If you're getting sleepy, do it. Sweet dreams, Selene! I'm going to be out here a little bit longer." He removed his head from her shoulder and gave her one of his smiles to see her off.

"Ah, splendid~ I shall see you then, and sweet dreams yourself," Selene spoke. She then lifted herself from the concrete, dusted herself off, and headed off. Sweet dreams certainly did await her, the sweetest after a night under the falling stars.
