What: Cherry Blossom Festival
When: April 10th - 18th
Where: All over town & campus. Wherever you find a cherry tree. Probably even up there on that mystery island for whatever reason, if you're so inclined.
Rating: Flower power.





Pink is everywhere. No matter where you look, you're sure to see the signs of soft pink and white blossoms. There's a fresh spark of life filling the air and just beckoning for everyone to come outside and enjoy the sweet scents of spring. Well, except for you, people with springtime allergies. They just want to make you miserable. But perhaps for everyone else, it was a wonderful amazing time to be had.



There are wonderful spots for picnicking! Frolic inducing atmosphere and the space to do it! Every so often you will see vendors selling treats for the event! Cosplayers taking advantage of their natural environments for photo ops! Hot date spots! Blossoms! Sparkles! Everywhere! Even when it rains.

This log is completely open! You can do whatever you'd like with whomever you'd like whenever you'd like. Just start up a thread and go!

"He's a pretty good Woodshop student." Joel commented.

He actually kind of liked Sonic.

It wasn't every day you met a four foot tall blue talking insectivore and could agree with him that chili dogs were one of the world's truly perfect joys.

"Not THAT blue haired lummox," Eggman corrected him. "I'm talking about the one shaped like a shipping container."

That's not to say he didn't hate Sonic with every fiber of his being. Because he did. Very much.

"Oh. Max." Joel commented, slowing down his pedaling and taking a drink. "Yeah. He's got some.... he's set in his ways when it comes to the gym. I've always been more of an 'if it works' do it kind've guy."

Except when it comes to craftsmanship in carpentry. That shit's about professionalism and you do it right, got dangit.

"Who knows what he'd try to do if he saw a machine like that? Probably try to punch it. Or bench press it. Either way, I can't stand the very notion!"

"He'd probably wonder what it was for. Dunno if he'd try and ruin it for you - I don't even think he made it up onto your carrier that day."

Because someone Max's size would be hard to miss, even on a huge airship like that.

"Probably only because NOBODY TOLD HIM," Eggman grumbled. "I swear, most of this school has it out for me."

"You ever wonder why that might be?" Joel asked. "I mean, someone told me about the whole... ah. Martial Law business from a while back."

It had rubbed Joel the wrong way immediately because he'd lived that reality in Boston, in the Zones. He'd hated it.

"If I'd lived under it, can't say I'd be any kind of fan."

Eggman growled a bit under his breath. Ooh that was a reminder he didn't need.

"Before I took control, the city was a hotbed of racial violence," Eggman explained. "I restored order, and got revenge for Madam Flurrie. I'd do it ALL again in a heartbeat. So what if I maybe overstepped my boundaries and started turning people into robots? The system worked!"

"Revenge... I can understand that much."

Said the man who'd slaughtered a hospital filled with Fireflies just to get to one person and make sure she got out alive. Sure, they had been in his way and would have killed him first, given the opportunity. But he had to admit there was a satisfaction in knowing they were gone. Couldn't come after her. He'd damned the whole Human race for the love of one child and had no real room to judge.

"How's that whole 'turning people into robots' thing work?"

"Trade secret," Eggman retorted. "But it IS a wonderfully fascinating process. For smaller animals, it's as easy as plugging a living creature into a mechanical shell. For larger organisms, I have something special for that."

[golonghorns]

"Straight outta science fiction, in my world." Joel replied. "We had this movie, Terminator, about machines who looked like people. Came back in time to kill particular folks. Worldwide phenomenon - I don't care for those sorts've movies, but I've seen a few of 'em. What you can do... man. Crazy for me to think that there's somethin' out there that can do that."

"I'm familiar with that movie," Eggman told him. "And time travel isn't science fiction. I've done it before. Many times in fact."

"You're shittin' me." Joel replied, suddenly very interested. Imagine if he could find that same technology. If he could take it home...

"The first time, I tried to take control of the Little Planet's Time Stones, magic relics that allow travel to the past and future. I conquered the Little Planet in the past to alter its history, but of course that blue rat undid all my hard work!" he started to grumble.

"The second time, I... acquired a device called the Time Eater, which I used to try and erase all of my mistakes from history. And, of course, the BLUE PEST RUINED EVERYTHING AGAIN!!!" he shouted angrily this time.

"He seems pretty good at that." Joel replied. Again, he actually kind of liked Sonic. He was an OK student and had enough of an attitude that Joel thought he'd go far in life despite being a four foot tall porcupine.

"Tech like that would do my world a whole heck'uva lot of good."

[iamtheeggman]

"Who WOULDN'T have need for a machine that could rewrite history?!" Eggman asked rhetorically. "But there's always going to be some goody-goody who prefers history go just the way it has, who's going to stop you!"

[golonghorns]

"Trust me. If they saw my world, the goody-goodys would be all over changing it."

Actually, the more he thought about it though, the less likely he'd be to do anything even if he had the tech. Simply put, if the world never turned to shit, Ellie would never have been born. Her parents met and conceived her... what? Five years into everything? Chances of them doing the exact same thing if the world were still alright were slim to none.

So. Unless he could somehow protect her from the effects of re-writing time, the world would just have to Deal.

"I don't think so," Eggman pointed out. "No matter how bad the world is, there's always someone out there who stands to gain from the misery of others. Even if your world is an awful, inhospitable place, someone out there is turning a handsome profit at the expense of others. I assure you that."

[golonghorns]

"Oh, there's plenty of 'em. But I wouldn't call them Good." Joel replied. "The military is enjoying a position of power, controllin' life in the cities. There are camps of hunters who're doing well for themselves. They, uh... they hunt people."

Then there were guys like David. Who was no longer doing that well. But he'd been OK for a while until Ellie split his face like a piñata with that machete.

"I think some of the heroes around here would be happy to turn back the clock twenty years. Stop the infection before it began."

....that would mean Sarah would live, too. She'd be in her mid thirties by now. Damn. Wasn't that a thought? (The answer is, yes. It is a thought. The reaction to that is simple: Push it down and pretend it didn't occur to him.)

Eggman blinked. "People who profit or gain from disaster are RARELY good," he said as if it were the most obvious statement to make in the world. "But that's exactly what I'm talking about. People with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, whatever it may be."

[golonghorns]

"Yeah..." said the man who had basically destroyed Humanity's hope of curing cordyceps just so he could keep one girl alive. That was about as much profiting from disaster as anything the military had done.

"Anyway. Guessin' the tech to do it don't exist here." Joel repliued. "Or you would'a used it to go back in time and save your airship from bein' totaled."

[iamtheeggman]

"It DID. Until the BLASTED HEDGEHOG got to it again!!" Eggman growled again, fists tightening and slamming down on the handlebars of the bike. "Every time I'm even the SLIGHTEST BIT close to my goals, he always makes a mess of it!!!"

[golonghorns]

"...so why ain't you killed him yet?" asked Joel. "Not that I'm advocating it or nothin' - I don't want any harm coming to the kids." He'd just about killed Blood Falcon for this reason. "But you don't seem to have all the same scruples I got when it comes to youngsters, at least."

[iamtheeggman]

"OH. GEE. I WONDER WHY I NEVER THOUGHT OF DOING THAT BEFORE?!" Eggman shouted angrily, getting red in the face.

In case Joel couldn't tell, that was sarcasm.
