It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location.   Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, TAG YOUR DUDES, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

Siiiidles up to him.

"Hey Rock! Having fun?"

He doesn't really look like he is since he's standing around fussing with his collar. For Ema's part, she's wearing a lab coat turned into a dress.

"Oh, hey, Ema," Rock greeted her with a smile, trying not to fidget with his collar any more than he already was. "I'm trying, but I've never really been to one of these before! I'm not as prepared for this as I hoped I'd be."

"You don't really have to be prepared, I think. It's a party, just have fun." She shrugs a little. "I've never been to prom either, I was too young at my old school."

"Well, people have got suits and dresses, they're dancing... I barely had enough time to get a suit for tonight," he admitted. "I don't know anything about dancing."

"I guess that's true. You do need time to prepare your wardrobe!"

Wardrobe choices are very important, thinks the girl wearing a repurposed lab coat.

"Dancing's easy, though. All you do is move to the beat!"

She demonstrates by stepping back and forth in time and moving her hands. It wouldn't be considered great dancing anywhere, but does that really matter in a room full of awkward teenagers?

"Yeah, and Roll WAS pretty excited to find a suit for me," he said. "She's got a knack for that sort of thing."

He nodded. "I guess I can give it a try..." He started to sway back and forth, waving his arms.

"Yeah, there you go!"

She gets a little more animated as a faster song comes on.

"Who's Roll?"

He was really getting into it at this point, so much that he almost forgot to answer.

"Oh! Roll is my sister!" he answered simply.

"Oh, cool! I have a sister, too. She usually helps me with stuff like this, but..."

She shrugs. "Well, I found this dress myself!"

"Well, it looks nice!" he replied.

"Thanks!" She smiles. "It's made out of a lab coat! Isn't that cool?"

"Yeah, it is!" he said with a smile.

She's glowing with happiness. She's really proud of the dress.

"You're really getting the hang of dancing!"

"Thanks! You know, this isn't as hard as I thought it'd be!" he commented, keeping it up.

"Of course it's not. Scientifically speaking, the only thing that matters is having fun!"

That's not scientific at all.

"Do you want to dance with me? I think I can handle this!" he suggested. Dancing with friends was a thing he knew people did. And by now he definitely thought of Ema as his friend.

"Sure, why not?"

She spins around once.

"If you think you can handle it."

"Well, I'll sure try! Just let me know if I do anything wrong, okay?" he asked, offering his hand for hers.

She took his hand and led him out to the dance floor.

"So did you come here with anyone?" she asked amicably, holding out her other hand and turning to face him.

"No I didn't," he said, taking her other hand and trying to start dancing like she had shown him. He was awkward at it, this being his first real dance with another person and all. "I came alone. That's not bad, is it?" he asked.

"No, it's not! Usually people bring dates to stuff like this, but we're all friends here so it doesn't matter!"

She doesn't mind if he's awkward, the point is having fun.

"I'm here with Chihiro, but he wandered off a little while ago... I'm not sure where he went."

"Don't worry, he'll turn up soon I bet!" Rock reassured her. "I'm really glad so many people here are so friendly... I was kinda worried about going to a real school at first."

"Yes, I'm sure he will!" ~~He does at the worst time.~~

"I'm glad you've been having a good time. Where did you go to school before? Homeschool?"

That's the only alternative to real school, right?

"I, uh... I never had any schooling before," Rock explained sheepishly. "I was a lab assistant robot. I never needed it before."

"Wait, you're a robot?" How did she miss that? "But being a lab assistant must have been exciting. Skip all these classes and get straight to the field experience!"

She just doesn't want to do homework anymore.
