It's a beautiful spring evening at Smash Academy, the barest hints of summer just beginning to touch the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.



Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent shadow bug invasion, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.

HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.

Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. 

Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, TAG YOUR DUDES, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

"SONNY!"

And here is Ema, wearing a lab coat that has been turned into a dress. She bounces a little on her heels.

"Congratulations on graduating!"

[punchtheflute]

"Aaaah! Thank you so much!"

He's all grins.

"I should have graduated last year, but I disappeared into a space-time anomaly and that held me back. But now I can go to college! I'm so excited!"

Wait, Sonny, remember your manners!

"Oh! And you look really nice! I like your dress, it really suits you!"

[atmyage]

"Thanks!" She swishes it back and forth a little. "You look good too."

She's about to say something else when suddenly something he said strikes he as odd.

"A space-time anomaly!? What was it like?"

That sounds science-y and really interesting.

[punchtheflute]

"Thanks!" He was glad people seemed to like his tux. He'd spent enough on it!

"It was like I went away for a week to take my little sister home because something here at school upset her and she wanted to leave. And when I got back here, I'd actually been gone a year." he replied to her question, shrugging and scratching at his, for once, neatly shaven chin. "When I got back some of my team had gone, my Brother had started dating my Girlfriend, and all my grades were gone and I had to start over as a Junior instead of graduating to being a Senior. It was actually really lame!"

[atmyage]

"That sounds terrible!"

Especially the brother dating his girlfriend part. Wasn't "bros before hoes" a rule or something?

"I've heard of stuff kind of like that happening before... like when Phoenix was still here, he knew about things that happened in the future that I didn't."

She taps her chin in thought for a moment, before smiling at Sunny. "But, well, I'm glad you're here now! What are you going to do now that you graduated?"

[punchtheflute]

"It was pretty awful! Things are sort of starting to get back to normal, though." Sonny replied with a nod. Most things, anyway. It was weird to think he'd been back for more than a year and had to work so hard to just sort of get back to where he'd been. "I'm sorry that Mr. Wright went home. I'm glad you got to see him for a while at least!

"I'm going to do the college level courses! I wanted to do them before but couldn't, so, now I can! Everything else will be kind of the same."

[atmyage]

"I'm glad they're getting sorted out, too." It really does sound pretty terrible. She's sorry Sonny had to go through that, and hopes she never has to.

But, well, there are happier things to talk about!

"That's exciting! What kind of courses are you taking? What are you studying?"

[punchtheflute]

"I take Smash Fundamentals, Ethics, Etiquette, Sex Ed, Health and Pokémon studies. I'm going to add Martial Arts to my roster next year!" Sonny replied. "I'm thinking maybe I'll try a few classes with Ms. Aran in Armed Weaponry? But I'm not sure yet."

[atmyage]

"That's a lot of classes..."

More than she would want to take.

"But those all sound really good! I bet you'll do great. Just... be careful with the Armed Weaponry."

She's not sure she would ever want to handle a weapon, no matter what.

[punchtheflute]

"It isn't so many." Sonny replied. "When I first came here, I wore myself out trying so many different classes just to see which ones I liked! I'd never been to a school before and everything was brand new and exciting! I think I only slept fourteen hours a day for like a month!"

He kind of missed those days!

"I'll be careful in armed weaponry. I'm a good physical fighter but I've never tried a weapon before. I'm guessing it's kind of like using my attacks when I'm a Pokémon. But just something else is doing the attacking instead of me."

[atmyage]

"Only" fourteen hours a day... She's never heard of someone sleeping that much.

"Yeah, but weapons can really hurt people, so just be careful where you point them."

She almost wants to tell him not to take it at all. No one should be using weapons. Even if Sonny won't be using them against a person (she hopes), it's still dangerous.

[punchtheflute]

"Don't worry, I'll be really careful! I bet, probably, part of the class is learning how to use them safely so that you don't hurt yourself or people around you." Sonny replied, trying to sound reassuring. She seemed a little anxious about the idea of that particular class and he wondered if she'd had bad experiences with weapons before. Hopefully she wouldn't worry too much!

[atmyage]

"...That's good."

She's trying to sound brave about this (even police officers and detectives carry guns!), but she can't sound fully confident.

"I guess it's okay, if that's what they're taking the class for."

[punchtheflute]

"Or maybe it isn't such a great idea to take that class." Sonny replied, shrugging and smiling. "I was just kind of thinking about it. That's all. I probably just won't take it anyway."

Because really, he didn't want to make his friends worry. That was the LAST thing he'd want to do.

"What about you? Are you going to try any new classes next year?"

[atmyage]

"Oh, don't let me discourage you," she says, as she continues to sound very discouraging.

"But hmm... I'm going to start taking Dr. Freeman's class, and chemistry, and I think I'm going to take more marital arts classes!"

She's sick of being helpless.

[punchtheflute]

"Oh! That would be cool! We'd be in that class together, maybe, and we could practice together too!" Sonny replied with a grin. "It's always good to have someone to work with in classes like that. Do you take any other combat courses right now?"

[atmyage]

"Yeah! That would be fun!"

She throws a punch in the air (not at Sonny, of course!). "Just Fundamentals of Smash! I'm not very good at it yet, though."

But she's learned to throw a bunch, at least.

[punchtheflute]

"That can be a hard class sometimes! But Max is a very good teacher, I think. He works hard to help everyone."

And he yelled a lot. Can't forget that he yelled a lot.

[atmyage]

He certainly does yell a lot.

"Yeah, I've learned a lot of things! It's been fun."

She shrugs. "I bet you're naturally good at stuff like that, being a Pokemon and all."

[punchtheflute]

"I think I am! I'm better with Pokémon moves than I am with my fists and my feet. I usually am in Pokémon form in that class, because I can do more stuff that way. But when I take Martial Arts next year, I'm going to stay as a Human the whole time."

Snorlax didn't have a wide range of fighting type moves.

"I'm sure that probably you do really well in that class, even if you're not a Pokémon!"

[atmyage]

"Maybe! I want to learn how to fight like the Steel Samurai."

Learning to fight like a kid's show character is a terrible idea, but she doesn't care. He can beat the Evil Magistrate, after all, so he must be the best!

"We'll learn how to fight together, and then we'll both be great at it."

[punchtheflute]

"Ooooh! Who's the Steel Samurai?" asked Sonny, immediately very interested. "Is he someone you know?"

[atmyage]

"No, he's from a TV show! A really good one, even if no one here has seen it."

She frowns at that, but then smiles again.

"It's cool. It's for kids but even adults like it!"

[punchtheflute]

"I watch a lot of shows that are for kids, and I still like them. Like the Ponies and Winnie the Pooh and stuff. That little orange Teddiursa can eat almost as much honey as I can! I wonder if the show you like ever comes on TV here? Or maybe it's available on DVD or something? I'd watch it with you!"

[atmyage]

"Well, I do have the first season and the movie on DVD." Her expression grows excited. "Come over and watch it sometime! Maybe we can get a watching party going like we did with My Little Pony!"
