Phoenix got beaten by a girl
Who: Phoenix Wright, GLaDOS, and Vivian for the first part, OPEN for the second part
What: Phoenix gets beaten up :[ - then he's in the nurse's office or something for the next day
When: December Fourteenth through the fifteenth
Where: The stadium (with the safetys off), then the nurse's office! You can visit him there.
Warnings: Violence :[
Phoenix had an overwhelming sense of justice. He cared greatly for innocent people, and if their safety was compromised, then he had to take action. He couldn't just sit when a criminal was running around out and about endangering the lives of others.
Perhaps Vivian wasn't truly at fault here; she was just a child, or as GLaDOS said, just an AI who had only been alive for a few weeks at the most. But it was GLaDOS he despised; she was a sociopath, entrapping the school for her own personal pleasure. And then she unleashed this humanoid weapon on the school who would shoot people simply for not having a hall pass! Of course, Phoenix had to tell her what she was doing wrong, but then GLaDOS responded with threats of violence.
And since that time, Phoenix had been extremely cautious, watching his back at every turn for that human turret or for the computer instructor. He had unfortunately gotten stuck under the mistletoe with her once and promptly fled once they were forced to kiss. Maybe he was a bit of a coward, but he had to figure this situation out before being beaten to a pulp.
Walking through the hallways with caution, he tried to keep awareness of his surroundings, looking out for anyone with white or light-blue hair. Please don't kill Phoenix.

Part one - Closed to Vivian and GLaDOS

No matter the confliction, no matter the morality - she owed her caretaker everything she had now. Little did she know that her dedication to GLaDOS's will was far beyond her programming, but for now, she processed it as such. It was her obligation; it was her duty.
Vivian needed to avoid making a scene, this much she knew. She theorized just how she could avoid chasing her target down by coming fully prepared to break his spirit before he even had a chance:
She came equipped with a rocket launcher. It was almost as big as she was but she carried it as if it didn't burden her at all. The more disturbing part was that she knew how to balance it on her tiny shoulder and if it indicated anything, she had incredibly abnormal strength for a small child.
She would hide in the halls she knew inside and out for now, waiting for him to cross her path until she could approach him from behind. She wouldn't dream of shooting him, but she could sure look as if she would.

Unknowingly, Phoenix crossed Vivian's path. He heard the squeak of shoes however and nearly jumped. Turning around to make sure that it was just some innocent person, Phoenix was sorely disappointed. It was her. That hall monitor. With a giant frickin rocket launcher.
Phoenix actually gave a terrified yelp, immediately putting his arms up in a surrender pose. "Ah! I'm... Please don't hurt me!" was all he managed to sputter out.
no subject
"Target acquired: Phoenix Wright," Vivian stated, as if Nick wouldn't know it was him she came for. "Please come with me, Mr. Wright!" Her cold smile and excessive weaponry could pass her for a tour guide in a war zone.
no subject
"Er... What if... What if I refuse?" It was worth a shot, though he still kept his arms up. Maybe if she truly was an AI, that could be a logic bomb for her. Probably not. He was doomed either way.

"Okay," he muttered weakly. "I'll go with you..."
He really didn't want to die...
no subject
"Thank you! Come with me, please."
no subject
He said nothing, but he was visibly wincing as his hand lightly touched Vivian's. Make it quick, please...
no subject
As quick as a child's feet could guide an adult's, Vivian lead Phoenix to her leader, humming a little song with no real beginning or end and most certainly no sensical pattern. Unlike their set path, the tune went wherever she wanted it to go and on occasion, her finger tips would drum lightly against Nick's larger hand. She grew very silent when they came closer to GLaDOS, as if singing were forbidden in such a dark place.
Her job was done. She had brought the spiky-haired man to be dealt with and she knew GLaDOS would be content. That was all she wanted!
Let's just say for the sake of speeding things up that GLaDOS told her to go to the stadium.
Speaking of GLaDOS, the AI can be seen sitting on one of the bleachers. She's sitting on it with her arms folder and her legs crossed, a rather annoyed expression on her face. It changes into a smirk quite quickly once Phoenix and Vivian enter the stadium. While Phoenix wouldn't know this until it was too late, GLaDOS had tampered with the auto-heal function and shut it off for this particular fight. Certainly an arrogant move, but she was aware of her situation...not to mention what her opponent was (or rather, wasn't) capable of.
"Excellent. Not only did you bring him here, you did so without injuring him. Well done." A mere second passes before those golden eyes turn to look right at Phoenix. "So. Are you ready?"
no subject
"Please... Ms. Glados... You don't have to do this..." He stared at GLaDOS with wide eyes, terror overtaking his features. Maybe one last plea would let him off the hook. He had no idea about the auto heals, but it didn't matter because he was promised pain. Perhaps even death.
What was she going to do? Hack off his limbs and leave him completely crippled for life? Blind him? Paralyze him? He didn't even want to think about it. Perhaps if he sent his mind somewhere else, it would hurt less.
Part two - Nurse's station - Open to everyone
Either way, he lay on the bed with gauze stuffed up his nose, bandages wrapped around his head and chest, and just looking like hell. A lot of blood was lost, though Phoenix wasn't completely gone yet. He was still awake, just in a lot of pain.
Fortunately he had been given lots of morphine. Lots and lots of morphine. So sometimes he'd doze off.
no subject
God knows why. Maybe he was bored, maybe he wanted to explore the campus more, either way, he's now in the nurse's station, poking around, looking at the various medical devices and pieces of equipment (and getting Medic vibes).
After a few minutes of poking, he hears a very loud sound. It reminds him of a saw cutting through a tree. There aren't any trees in the nurse's office! So what is he hearing?
Snoring. Someone's snoring!
Scout suddenly feels the urge to toss something at the snorer to wake them up, and so he searches for just the right thing to toss. He eventually finds a box of bandages and decides that it'll work, and meanders over to the snorer, quietly, then tosses the box right at their forehead.
no subject
When that box of bandages hit his head, though, it took a moment for him to realize what had happened. He was so groggy that all he could do was look through some sort of haze at some guy who was standing there.
"Whu... whassat?" Phoenix murmured some combination of syllables meant to be "What's that," though it's dubious at best if it came out that way.
huff huff pant am i late (yes)
With a small sigh he pulled a chair over to the side of the bed, sat down, and crossed his legs like he was planning on sticking around for a while.
"So, Wright," He folded his arms, "What happened this time?" Edgeworth didn't say as much, but given Phoenix's track record with miraculous luck Edgeworth had an inkling that he probably fell out of an airplane and onto a busy freeway, or something.
you are never too late for gay
"Edgeworth..." he spoke weakly, "Glad to see you."
Still, he managed a weak laugh at what Edgeworth had to say. "Ah... One of the teachers here really doesn't like me." Attempting to brush it off as something small, of course. While Phoenix feared that GLaDOS could indeed attack him again, he knew that any kind of legal threats against her were fruitless for the time being. All he could do was shrug it off, really.
no subject
Edgeworth didn't have much of a clue about Phoenix's new friends. "Is there an explanation as to why, or does this person simply have a problem with your fashion sense?"
no subject
"Well... she's just... rather violent. Heh." Another weak, nervous laugh. "I, ah... told her that her violent ways were... not very acceptable. So she kind of... did this."
And Phoenix could pretty much predict Edgeoworth's reaction. He'd probably sigh at him or something.
no subject
Edgeworth was having a little trouble believing that Phoenix didn't even attempt to defend himself. ...And, well, he wasn't fully aware of how dangerous people could be around these parts.
no subject
"Well... She's not exactly... human." Though he had no idea why Edgeworth would believe that. Phoenix wouldn't have believed it himself if he hadn't been at this school for well over a year. "This is the same woman who locked down the school and imprisoned everyone, forcing them to do ridiculous tests."
Come to think of it, he didn't remember Edgeworth being there for that. Lucky bastard.
´;◡;` welcome to slowpoke city, population: me
"Oh. I believe I spoke with you on the matter when I first arrived." Sure, it took Edgeworth a long time to finally put a face to her name, but he at the very least knew who Phoenix was talking about. "Glados, isn't it?" He asked, then added with a nice hmph, "She put me a week behind schedule."
no subject
"Yeah, that's who it is. I was reprimanding her for unleashing... some kind of sentient weapon... upon the school, and she just... didn't take it well." He gave a nervous smile and rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, though the muscles in his arm hurt as they stretched.
"I'm not exactly sure how to deal with this lady now. She claims that her status as a robot-- er, computer - whatever she is - makes her immune to the law."
no subject
Nope, that sounded as stupid as 'robots.' "You've been here longer than I have, Wright. Has there been an incident even the slightest bit similar to this one since you came here?" He'd read a heck of a lot of law books and court transcripts since he got here, but he hadn't really seen any other cases of artificial intelligences assaulting people.
no subject
"Yeah, kind of..." His eyes had been gazing at the ceiling, but now the focused back on Edgeworth. "Do you know Dr. Robotnik? Ah, he also goes by the name Eggman."
The only reason Phoenix wouldn't have Eggman's brainwashing incident at the front of his mind is because he couldn't really remember what he had done while brainwashed. Well, then there was the whole thing with time eaters where he was forced to see his horrible college-aged self almost lose in court.
god dang so slow. too slow. i am slow.
"...Perhaps. What does this doctor look like?" Edgeworth frowned like he didn't particularly want to hear the answer.
no subject
"Well... He's... rotund. Bald. Very large mustache. Just... altogether very unpleasant in every sense of the word." He grimaced just thinking of that man.
no subject
no subject
"Well... He's... Let's just say my very first encounter with him was him making a post on the network yelling at me for stealing his job." He gave a short chuckle at the absurdity of the situation, and then he waved his hands in front of him, "--I mean, I didn't mean to steal it! I took this job since there was an ad for it! I didn't mean to--"
He cleared his throat and continued. "Anyway, he's always been very... impolite to me. But I could tolerate that if it wasn't for him brainwashing me and several other people in the school with his robots." and Phoenix realized how ridiculous this sounded, because this was Edgeworth. Edgeworth believed about GLaDOS, but that's because he was there. He was not there to witness Eggman's brainwashing robots.
"I mean, I know it sounds ridiculous... But however he did it, it happened. And he got away with it scot-free." That wasn't even the last of his horrible encounters with Eggman. Then there was the thing with the time eater... But he figured he'd take it one thing at a time.
no subject
"You're right -- it does sound ridiculous." Edgeworth sighed and tried valiantly to suspend his disbelief. ...For the time being, at least. "And I suppose no legal action was taken?"
no subject
"The law in this place is kind of backwards," he admitted. "Nobody really does anything as long as nobody is killed..." And he gulped. "And even then..." Caim might not have committed the most recent murder, but he still had a slew of bodies behind him already and he was allowed to walk free.
no subject
He does a double-take when he sees someone in that bad of shape on the far side of the nurse's station. Seeing someone writhing on a cot in an infirmary is not new to him, but when one side of his brain nudges the other and reminds it that this isn't normal around here, remember?, he takes notice.
"Good god. What happened?"
no subject
"Oh ah..." He didn't really want the fact that he was beaten up by GLaDOS to be known around the school. Even if many feared her, he was still beaten up by a faculty member. It was kind of pathetic. And there was nothing he could do about it because she could evade the law somehow.
"Well... Let's just say someone here doesn't like me." He cracked a nervous smile then. He only was vaguely familiar with the man who stood before him. The new physics teacher, wasn't it? Right, he was the man who took Captain Falcon's job, who then took Dr. Robotnik's job. A sweet sense of karma, actually.
no subject
"If it's a student, then they'd better get their ass expelled for it." He responds frankly.
no subject
"I kind of wish it had been a student then," he laughed. Well, he wished it had been no one, though he had a feeling the Hands wouldn't expel a student just for fighting. It was a fighting school, right? Damn those Hands; they really didn't care about the dangerous environment, did they?
no subject
That's even worse. He wouldn't put it past them after the explosive hissy-fit Eggman threw, but how are the kids going to learn self-control if even the teachers can't keep from killing each other? He tucks his files under one arm and adjusts his glasses.
"...Do you mind if I ask what happened? Oh, uh... name's Freeman, by the way. New physics teacher."
no subject
"Ah. Mr. Freeman. Good to meet you." He held out his hand for Gordon to shake. "I'm Phoenix Wright. Political science."
He exhaled a deep sigh before explaining the situation. Sitting up a bit straighter in the bed, he finally began. "Well, I had been speaking over the network to the computer teacher, Ms. Glados." Even that name might be enough to confirm the situation for Gordon, but Phoenix really had no idea.
"Basically, I was concerned about her, ah... kid. The hall monitor. And I reprimanded her for not taking responsibility for her violent actions and endangering the student body. She... didn't take it too well." Another weak laugh. Because really, the best thing Phoenix could do upon being beaten up by her was just laugh. Shrug it off.
no subject
Oh HELL.
"I called her on the turret's conduct too." Turret. Not kid. "Told her I'd take her apart if she shot up a student. I guess I should've been a little less specific in my terms."
no subject
"Oh? She didn't threaten you with violence then?" He frowned a little bit, then sighed. Phoenix was one of the only instructors at this "fighting school" who didn't actually know how to fight. Mr. Freeman could probably take her on easily.
"Well, I'm not exactly the strongest guy anyway. But I guess it was worth it to let her know that what she's doing is wrong."
no subject
no subject
"Well yeah, I kind of figured that... I just mean that at least I tried. I couldn't just sit by and do nothing." His expression faded back to a more serious one with the tired bags under his eyes only accentuating his growing exasperation at this situation.
"The thing is... Ah, forgive me for complaining but... I've threatened her with legal action and she just seems impervious to it due to her being a computer or something. It's frustrating."
no subject
"I suppose you could plea a case in which she's not technically a person and therefore not possessing of any rights... but I don't see anything good coming out of that."
no subject
"To be honest, I'm not sure how the law in FDC even works. It seems so... backwards. The fact that they let an alleged murderer wander around the school with hardly any repercussions and no protection for the residents..."
The law truly was backwards here, and whatever he threatened GLaDOS with probably wouldn't work. Eggman never faced any consequences for what he had done to people, nor did GLaDOS. Phoenix would either have to find a way around this or just keep his mouth shut.
no subject
"Mr. Wright, the law is only as good as the people creating and enforcing it. And if they're anything like the Hands, I think we're on our own."
no subject
"The law was created to protect people, Mr. Freeman. And that's one of the reasons I've stayed here so long. I can't in my right mind let the people here go unprotected. But... there's little I can do."
And it hurt. This realization hurt so much that people were being hurt and murdered and Phoenix could do absolutely nothing about it. The best he could do would be to join the security force, but he wasn't a policeman. He was an ex-lawyer, disbarred because someone had it in for him.
"Ah... I'm sorry, Mr. Freeman. We just met and I'm already complaining to you." He gave a sad smile.
no subject
"Just keep in mind that not everyone else keeps to the same laws that you do. Either they never developed the higher functions to see the value in protecting others, or they just don't care. They will try to get away with whatever they think they can, which is usually a lot if the law fails. In that case, they need immediate consequences for their actions. Usually it's up to you to provide those consequences."
no subject
"You're right. Ms. Glados and others need to face consequences for their actions."
However, Phoenix certainly couldn't execute either of them. He could never kill ever, unless he absolutely had to for self-defense. And even then, he had no idea what he could do in such a situation. "But how? I'm a lawyer-- er... former lawyer. I'm not the one who does sentencing."
