It was a dark and stormy night--

Well, no. It wasn't. In fact, it was rather cool and clear, a perfect October evening for the perfect October celebration. Stars winked above, the choice accompaniment to the orange moon looming overhead. Tonight. Tonight would be a party.



But just as the sun begins to set, the sound of cackling can be heard ringing through campus, the harbinger of what could only be described as Halloween Shenanigans.

Woe betide those that fell into her path.

"Mmhm!" Ai responded immediately.

Once Ai got a good look at the little boy, though, it hit her. She knew exactly why he looked familiar! It's because he was familiar! Just... very small...

In order to confirm her suspicious, she timidly asked, "Garry the Human...?" Still smiling, and still holding out the lemon candy for him.

Dad told him not to take candy from strangers. But this was a kid like him so it means it was safe right? Right.

Garry accepts candy! Garry immediately eats the candy. He speaks as he sucks on the hard candy, fff. Because he had to ask.

It was weird.

"I'm Garry...But how did you know? A-and my last name isn't The Human..."

He doesn't remember a thing. He will afterwords.

Ai's eyebrows knit together. But Garry the Human is what Ai had always called Garry. And Garry and Ai were friends...! Why would he not recognize her?

Maybe... Well, maybe this was Garry's brother! Who's name was also Garry. Made sense.

"I don't know! What is your last name?" Pause. "What is a last name?"

Everything will go back to normal soon, Ai. But that is not now.

"My last name is [blahblahblah goes here.]!!"

Oh wow, what true revelations to this character. Unbelievable. Wow.

"...But you don't know what a last name is?"

"No," Ai replied. The young Pikmin didn't have a last name. Neither did Vianca, or any of her other friends, as far as she knew. Phoenix the Human had two names, but that was just how his name went.

"What is it?"

"You don't have one..."

Garry got his parents' last name. GAAAAAAASP. Did this girl not have any parents??? TRAGIC. Garry made a determined face. But he was smiling.

"We should give you a last name!"

Garry hadn't exactly explained what a last name was. Regardless, Ai was clearly very excited to have one! She clasped her hands together and grinned from ear-to-ear!

"Okay!"

Before coming to the academy, Ai didn't have a first name either. Crazy Hand had given her the name Ai. She was more than pleased to receive a last name from- who she still assumed was- Garry the Human's brother.
