It was a dark and stormy night--

Well, no. It wasn't. In fact, it was rather cool and clear, a perfect October evening for the perfect October celebration. Stars winked above, the choice accompaniment to the orange moon looming overhead. Tonight. Tonight would be a party.



But just as the sun begins to set, the sound of cackling can be heard ringing through campus, the harbinger of what could only be described as Halloween Shenanigans.

Woe betide those that fell into her path.

Max had been walking to the gym when he heard a funny sound. The next thing he knew, he was younger. And shorter (and by shorter I mean 5'11" which is absurdly tall for a 13-year-old, but still). And smaller. 13 was right before he hit third puberty.

13 was when Max was sort of a jerk who thought he was too badass for your problems. 13 was when Max spent several hours a day in applying an ever-changing array of temporary tattoos. 13 was when Max wore patched up Swiss Army pants, rings on his fingers, a wallet-chain, and studded-leather wrist-bands.

Max felt... angry at things for no specific reason. Part of him was a little bit angry that he didn't have his muscles, but he wasn't even focusing on that, which for Max was just... strange. Normally he should have been obsessing over that. But right now? Right now he was just angry at the world.

But look at this impossibly cute thing.

The teenager looked down. It was a bulbasaur.

"Yeah? What?"

The bulbasaur wiggled its butt in lieu of a tail.

"Baaa.... You're covered in pictures ba!!"

"Yeah, I am. You have some sorta problem with that?"

[rivalrazorleaf]

"CAN I SEE??"

[teen_rockarms]

"Whatever, fine."

Max opens his arms up to you so you can look at them. He's not getting any closer to the ground or anything for you, though.

He leaned back to try and see, but that didn't really work.

So he tried to sit up on his hind legs to make himself taller... but when you were only a foot or so tall to begin with, that didn't really work either.

"Baa..."

WAIT RIGHT HE COULD DO THAT ONE THING.

So he did that one thing.

Now he was 3 and a half feet, instead of just one or so. The suddenly-human-in-a-really-big-sweater little boy stood up on the very tips of his little toes to try and get a better look at the fascinating pictures on Max's arms.

"Buuulll..."

"You like 'em?" he asked.

He thought about this very hard.

"Yes."

Max didn't say anything. He just made a sound that sounded like "uhn."

It may have been a sound of agreement.

He recrossed his arms.

Oh gods look at this fat little Charmander it's all...yellow.

Max saw the yellow Charmander. What the heck was wrong with it?

"You look funny," he said.

Now where had Eikichi seen this guy before? It kinda looked like that big brawly guy, but thinner.

Someone was having his first experience of Smash Academy shenanigans.

"You got a problem, kid?" Max asked the guy who was clearly older than he was and an inch or two taller.
