Kid Metroid II: Uprising of Samus
Who: Pit, Samus, and anyone else who wants to join in
What: ANGELS AND BOUNTY HUNTERS IN SPACE. The events of Kid Icarus Uprising: Chapter 8 are relived as well as some events in Metroid II.
Where: IN SPACE. Then the star pirates' ship. Then we segue into SR388 up until the death of the Metroid Queen.
When: June 23rd, but time is so spazzed out that it probably doesn't make much sense regardless of date.
Great. Just great. Pit only just landed foot on school grounds after his 29 year break, and what happens? He instantly gets vacuum-packed into this bizarre pocket of space-time disharmony. Not much time for salutations anymore!
The odd pulsing, compacting sensation that coupled with getting sucked up by the portal diminished, and Pit felt himself floating. He wasn't attached to any structure whatsoever and gravity had unchained him, or so it felt. Pit knew this feeling. This was the feeling of flying.
Or hovering. Since that's what you do in space from time to time. He opened his eyes to be greeted with the inky blue horizon of space engulfing his vision. It only took a moment before he realized where he was.
"It's like I'm hitting replay on this chapter my life or something," he awed as the sea of stars glittered like sand before him. Weird... On each side of his shoulders lingered a fairy orbitar. Yeah, this totally happened before. He remembered like it was yesterday because he totally served up the space Kraken with these little guys.
Oh! And Palutena's power of flight was searing through his wings! Grinning ear to ear, he took an experimental swerve to the left, then a swerve to the right. The first enemies popped up: remboblams. It was time to go.
He remembered this clearly. What was going through his head at the time? The scenery for one. He recalled paying attention to the mission objective... Oh! That's right! "The sacred treasures!" he shouted. Then it was like he snapped backwards in time to fit the mold.
"So, the Three Sacred Treasures are pretty old now. Do they still work?"
Palutena chimes in from her mysteriously omnipotent position from Skyworld, as if on cue. "They've grown more brittle with age, but they'll likely last a few more battles."
"You're not exactly inspiring confidence here."
"Well maybe you don't even need them anymore. Don't be such a chicken."
The angel deemed chicken went ahead and plucked those remboblams out of the sky with shots from his orbitars. "I'm no chicken! I could take Medusa with one arm tied behind my back!"
"Listen to that swagger! You've toughened up nicely, Pit. Remember when you'd be like, "I'm finished!" all the time?"
"I... still say that... a lot..."
Things proceeded normally from here, but not for long...

That was an appropriate description of the sensation Samus endured.
Very jarring.
Samus too fell victim to the Time Eater's attack, like a whirlwind rush to her head and a sucker punch to her gut. She remembered a foggy haze of a strange world bleached white, somehow knowing it contained something personal of hers within it. By the time she gathered her bearings she realized she was suddenly somewhere familiar, yet not...
My ship... She was sitting inside the cockpit of her gun ship speeding through cosmos, but the familiarity ended there when she looked outside the ship's windshield. Below her, there appeared to be an almost literal sea of stars and constellations held together by physical strings of light. Above her, were the dark, inky depths of space with glimmering stars. The computer conveniently blinked with the answer: The Galactic Sea. Huh. Samus had little time to appreciate the sights before there was a deep thunk against the hull of her ship. Then, the unmistakeable sound of a close explosion shuddering her ship, and red-alarms flashing across her dashboard to confirm that.
"What did I just run over...?" Thunk! Clunk! She swerved her ship left and right, doing her best to avoid a gathering mass of small single-eyed creatures. Correction: exploding creatures. Her ship was well-equipped to shoot them down, (and many she did shoot down) but more startling was a voice she heard echoing in the distance. No... make that two voices.
Pit...? The angel may have only been gone a few weeks to her but what the hell was he doing flying through space? How was he breathing? Flicking her hand across the flight controls, Samus cautiously lurked back as she listened to the conversation to piece together just what on Earth (or more accurately, not on Earth) was going on.
Samus recalled Pit mentioning the Three Sacred Treasures from a bike-washing conversation long ago... which meant that woman was probably the Palutena he spoke of too. This is... Pit's memory. How bizarre... He never mentioned going into space before. She'd have to grill the angel about why he'd leave out such juicy details of this kind of a mission (relevant to her interests, one can't fathom why)... but maybe later.
Sneaking up on the lone angel warrior was a mammoth whale! Samus put the pedal to the metal and raced her ship forward, guns blazing against the space sea beast and going, quite literally, at ramming speed.

Mac was suddenly in his comfort zone and then he was. In a whole space of white nothing. Was he asleep? Did he die, and this was heaven? N-no, he can't be dead. This heaven would be weird.
Mac's not...dead.
Because then he was brought here. He was inside...the ship. Well he didn't know this was the space pirate ship. He was too confused to think logically right now. He didn't even know how to even find the answers.
He looked outside. Was it nighttime? He saw big yellow spheres. And lines. And big eyeballed monsters getting fought by Pit.
...
"...Pit?!?!" It suddenly didn't matter if he was dreaming or dead. The angel out there in the night(?) was not mistakenly Pit. "Pit!!" Mac tried yelling. As if he could hear him out there. He screamed and pounded on the window. PIT! He hadn't seem him in weeks, was Mac missing him greatly affecting his dreams? Then it didn't matter if he screamed at the nothing outside finding answers.
Best idea. Except he caught the attention of some robot...space pirates. In seconds flat, Mac was surrounded.
Uh.
"...Hey guys?"
Please tell me they're friendly.
They're not are they. Lasers were pointed at him.
Welp.
Here. Goes. Mac was going to be pounding things in heaven/dreamland.

That is, until an orange spaceship interrupts the immersion with raging gunfire and incredible speed. Pit was about to ask if it was the space pirate ship they were seeking, but he was no longer preoccupied with the memory being his reality any longer. He snapped out of it.
"Hey! Wait a second... That ship looks familiar." No, he hadn't seen it in person before, despite knowing the bounty hunter it belonged to personally. The answer was far more meta than that. If what he was presuming was true, then... "Samus...?"
Palutena seemed pretty confused about this intrusion, too. "What?! Now THAT'S not something that was supposed to happen."
"You're telling me! I don't remember there being any cameos in this level..."
Yeah, wait a minute. All the memories of his most recent adventure stirred within him and it came to his full awareness again that something was NOT right. Samus's gunship did not happen here. At this point he was supposed to be the one to destroy that Belunka, not her! And what was she doing here? What was HE doing here?! He was going back to school! He'd already done this before! Why was he doing it all over?
"Actually, wait! This is ALL wrong!" Pit cried as Palutena continued to steer him across the constellations. "We've already done this, remember? I beat Hades! The war is over! Angel Land is at peace! Don't you remember it too, Lady Palutena?"
"Yes, I... do feel like something's amiss. Still, we need to focus on our mission objective here, Pit. The space pirate ship should be around here somewhere..."
"But what about Samus!" cried Pit.
"If she's here as an ally, then you're in luck! For now, look out!"
Rising from the clouds a little too close for comfort or safety was an impressively majestic ship breaching over a layer of nebulous clouds. It looked more like a nautical ship than anything else, further justifying this region's namesake. It tore a constellation's line apart with the hull and sunk back down into the film of clouds. Even though he was expecting it, the emergence of the massive craft still caught Pit off guard.
But what caught Pit off guard even more was that he could have sworn he heard familiar screaming on board. Maybe it was just his imagination playing tricks on him? He sure hoped so.
"It's moving pretty fast! Stay on its tail," Palutena instructed. Pit was starting to get the feeling she wasn't on the same page as he was about this whole back-in-time trip. Did she even realize the gravity of what was going on here?
"But this already happened. The sacred treasures should be safe now! Well, uh, actually they're not so safe anymore, but the point is, we retrieved them already! This is pointless! And Samus isn't supposed to be here! Don't you see how wrong this is yet?" He kept looking toward the direction of Samus's gunship. Wow, it's been so long since he last saw her... It WOULD be pretty neat if she'd join in on the chase or something. And by pretty neat, he was sure he meant AWESOME.
"Just keep moving ahead! We've got no time to pick at the details. Your power of flight will only last so long!"

R.O.B. couldn't figure out what had just happened, no matter how he tried. His sensors couldn't make sense of the event, or the monster that attacked them all. A major system error blacked out his sensors briefly, and when he finally became aware of his surroundings, he realized he was floating in space. Although it was rather strange, even for seemingly being deposited in the middle of space without warning. The look of the stars in the sky... They were all wrong. But that would have to wait. Spherical monsters had noticed his presence and were converging on him. And some were exploding.
This required immediate action.
Jet boosters were activated, and R.O.B. charged up his eye lasers. "Combat mode: initiated. Multiple targets locked." He began to shoot his eye lasers at the oncoming attackers, boosting around, trying to find some indication of where he was, and how to get back home.

"Pit, I think something's wrong with the timeline." Samus said, trying not to mind that everyone's conversations were somehow within earshot despite being in space. Perhaps it was the work of
nanomachinesthat Palutena woman...?Naturally, the bounty hunter's eyes gravitated over towards the pirate ship as it broke 'water'. Literal space pirates, huh? In a matter of seconds, the gun ship's many visors and scanners zeroed in on something other than her being very out of place here. Something was definitely wrong.
"Mac's aboard that ship. He's surrounded by hostile troops. Pit, you need to get in there and save him."
Make no mistake, Samus was just as eager to jump aboard and knock off some space pirate heads, but this ship didn't exactly have an identifiable landing bay... She'd have to circle around a few times or figure out how to make her own entrance. Pit, on the other hand...
"I'll clear a path. You just need to find a way in. Find Mac and find your treasures. Hurry!"
Her orange ship zoomed ahead of the angel, clearing quite a path, leaving explosions and decimated underworld baddies in her wake. No reason to stop there, she thought, and made another arc around the pirate's ship to give Pit more cover.
"I'll join you in a minute, I--" It appeared she wasn't alone in her conquest to help clear the starry skies. Yes, that was definitely R.O.B. floating right past her windshield...
"...I have something I need to take care of out here, first."

I'm going to make this a sub-thread until they meet up again in the pirate ship.
"Are you injured?"

The bounty hunter had little by means of information to work with other than the brief conversation she caught coming into this part of space, and a longer conversations she shared with Pit once long ago, but it was enough to make a basic assessment: any enemy of Pit's was her enemy.
"If I had to take a guess, Medusa's minions from the Underworld. For the record, I'm not sure how we got here in The Galactic Sea."
Samus pointed a gloved finger towards the mammoth pirate ship nearby, "More importantly, you and I aren't the only ones who somehow got here. Mac's aboard that ship and he's in trouble."

R.O.B. turned and extended his gyro spinner, summoning a gyromite and charging it up. He threw the gyromite into the swarm of exploding monsters approaching them, causing any that touched it to fly back on impact. It was definitely an effective tactic.

This sure was terrifying. And confusing. Mostly the latter. Mac did NOT understand this environment, that would eventually be his downfall. His battle skills would then only get him so far without any idea as to what was happening, how to get out of this mess, and how Pit was involved. But since Mac was Mac, an optimist, he can't think down that path. He had to hold these guys off and FIGURE THIS OUT.
But really, what was happening?

"My, how determined you are! That's the fighting spirit I like to see!" cheered Palutena.
"That's because my friend is in danger! And I'm gonna send him an angel!"
Just as he remembered, the pursuit didn't last long, and within moments he was zipping along in straits with the intergalactic pirate ship. Laser beams fanned out in all directions as Palutena tried to help him find that opening in the ship. The procedure went a little quicker than before because Pit knew where the opening was. "And please, do me one solid? This time, could you maybe try not to land me in there so ha-aaAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
Pit's request went unanswered. He landed inside the ship with a resounding thump.
"Ow... You didn't even let me finish..."
"Sorry about that... You ok down there?"
"Apology... accepted... I'll be fine." The winged warrior picked himself up from the floor. Shakily, but he did it. First things first: locate Mac in this convoluted maze of a ship. He bolted across the room and exit through the sliding doors on a mad hunt for his straggler friend. "Come on come on come on... OUTTA MY WAY!!!"
Those space pirates didn't stand a chance. He was popping finishing blows on them like bubble wrap.
Same thing as Samus/Rob, separate thread until they all reunite
Mac was too curious to ignore that thought now. What if they needed help. They could group and fight off these...things together.
Mac made an effort to fight and slowly go toward that direction.

His campaign forward was soon to be fruitful. Over there... could it be? Oh, good! It was Mac, all in one piece! He'd already cleared a safe path with which he could dash on over and meet up with him, so he ignored the stunned pirates off to the side and hurried to his comrade.
"Mac! What are you doing here?" he shouted. "How did you get on the space pirate ship?"
no subject
...Oh okay, now. Pit time. Mac would be so happy to see him normally but this is not a fun situation or a good place for a warm reunion.
"Pit?...That's what I was gonna ask you! What're you doin' here?"
...Space pirates.

Meeting up with Naoto: another separate thread!
"The only way we can keep going is if we scrub the deck with these knuckleheads first," Pit explained. "The seal to the room ahead will come undone if we can do that! Ready, set, go!!" He dashed forward to start downing some more enemies, making lots of racket as he did so.
Little did they know, but they had another straggler on board to meet up with.

When they would, they would find a pile of the creatures' bodies littering on the floor, seemingly having not been harmed apart from the lack of life in them, and Naoto looking over, her Persona sheathing its sword. Something here had obviously happened, silent and deadly.
"Good. I have cleared up this area am and ready to proceed to the next one," she declared in her usual-as-a-matter-of-fact voice. Saying hi to people? Not in this situation. "We can proceed when you are both ready."
no subject
"Seta! You too?"
Well...this was a surprise. Wow...what was going on...what was that thing behind him. What.
no subject
His next observation was equally as shocking to him. "You took out all these space pirates already?" SO BADASS...

She had already reached out into her coat and pulled out her gun (had they ever seen her with a gun before?), loading a few bullets. "May I inquire the status of our situation? I suddenly found myself in this predicament while preparing for my summer studies..."

Stop. Krakentime.
Then a cutscene like this happened, except with less Palutena, and maybe his friends somewhere in there too.
Space Kraken ATE THE SPACE PIRATE, stared everyone down with its funky eye, and reared its head for a roar.
"This should be a piece of cake, you guys! Or should I say, a piece of calamari!" Pit said as he gestured toward the tentacles that rose up into the air. "We've got four tentacles and five troops! Let's occupy every last tentacle at once and get this over with in record time! All right then! On your marks, get set... move out!!"
HE FELT LIKE SUCH A GOOD CAPTAIN UP THERE. Palutena would be so proud. WHERE... IS SHE...
Re: Stop. Krakentime.
...BECAUSE IT WAS KINDA FUN DESPITE EVERYTHING BEING CONFUSING.
But that poor space pirate was lunch...yikes. He was thinking how gross it was until Pit said something about the tentacles. So..attack them. WORKS FOR HIM.
"Works for me!" SEE?
He ran to the farthest one from the troop. VROOM. LET'S DO THIS. YEAH TEAMWORK.
no subject
Now that they were fighting this monster, she didn't even blink and brought out her Persona again with a single gunshot.
"Come, Yamato-Takeru!" The Persona appeared behind her, before unsheathing its sword before letting lose a Tempest Slash at one of the tentacles, reducing it to nothing more than a pile of well-cut tentacle slices in a giant pile. "My area is secured!" She waited for the others to be done.

Adam would've been proud. While Samus was about as anti-authority and lone-wolf as one could get, she was not above working together with a group to accomplish a goal. The plan the angel laid out was sensible, simple and effective, and the woman in the orange suit of armor took to her tentacle with no objections. It didn't take more than a few dozen rapid-fire shots from her arm cannon to send the squirming tentacle reeling. "Clear."
She sounded, frankly, unimpressed.
