Biology Class 1
What: Biology class
Who: Adam Malkovich and anyone joining the class
Where: Biology classroom
When: Monday, October 3rd
Warnings: None right now
Adam was already waiting behind his desk, watching the students enter the classroom. Once the room was full and the door was closed, he began with an introduction to the class. "Welcome to biology. Since I have yet to place the education of the students here, today will just be a quiz to see how everyone is in biology. Due to this, today's class will be shorter than usual. If some of you find this class too easy, I will raise the difficulty of the class depending on the average success of everyone in this classroom."
He then handed out one quiz to each student, containing seven questions in total. The questions read:
"1.Define the study of biology in one paragraph.
2. How do people benefit from scientific advancements in biology?
3. What are four characteristics that all organisms share?
4. How does biodiversity depend on a species' ability to reproduce?
5. Why is biodiversity greater closer to the equator?
6. Why is reproduction considered a characteristic of life if not all living things reproduce?
7. A Bloatsac can survive in most climates and terrains, and secretes a venomous sap over its body. Very few organisms can ingest this venomous sap and survive, making it an effective defense mechanism for the plant. Would this increase the Bloatsac's biodiversity or decrease it?"
After returning to his desk, Adam glanced at the clock and decided, "You have fifteen minutes to complete the quiz."

Answering the quiz/Handing in your answers
BEEP BEEP NATURE NERD COMING THROUGH.
Biology is the study of life. Unlike most sciences, there is very little testing involved, it's mostly looking at things as they exist. Biology looks at form and function as it stands in relation to organisms and their environments and tries to understand why things are the way they are in nature.
2. How do people benefit from scientific advancements in biology?
Understanding the world we live in gives us a better understanding of our role in it. Though, I think the better question is how do our advancements as people in the feild of biology help our environment.
3. What are four characteristics that all organisms share?
They are all alive. They are all made up of multiple parts, each of which does a job. They are organic. They all have some kind of genetic material.
4. How does biodiversity depend on a species' ability to reproduce?
Because the more a species reproduces, the more opportunities there are for genetic variation.
5. Why is biodiversity greater closer to the equator?
Because it's warmer.
6. Why is reproduction considered a characteristic of life if not all living things reproduce?
I think all living things reproduce? Not sexually always, but I think all living things at least divide their cells or replicate their proteins.
7. A Bloatsac can survive in most climates and terrains, and secretes a venomous sap over its body. Very few organisms can ingest this venomous sap and survive, making it an effective defense mechanism for the plant. Would this increase the Bloatsac's biodiversity or decrease it?"
Decrease it. The Bloatsac has found a good way to keep itself unharmed, so, genetically, it has little reason to change. There's no point in mutations outlasting the rest of the population if the rest of the population is already successful, so, any variations will be swallowed back up and dissapear.

.... A quiz on the first day! o.o;;
1.Define the study of biology in one paragraph.
The study of all biological beings in the world and every aspect of their lives through scientific methods.
2. How do people benefit from scientific advancements in biology?
They get a better understanding about how all living beings work and how to properly approach each of them better...
3. What are four characteristics that all organisms share?
They're alive, they need sustenance in one form or another, they're active in one way or another... Hmmm Ah'll git back to this one later!
they need to reproduce. Thank yew other questions!
4. How does biodiversity depend on a species' ability to reproduce?
......._________
5. Why is biodiversity greater closer to the equator?
......._________
6. Why is reproduction considered a characteristic of life if not all living things reproduce?
To further the species in order to survive and not go extinct.
7. A Bloatsac can survive in most climates and terrains, and secretes a venomous sap over its body. Very few organisms can ingest this venomous sap and survive, making it an effective defense mechanism for the plant. Would this increase the Bloatsac's biodiversity or decrease it?
...._____
And then time was up and Riwane looked frustrated as she got up from her desk... And felt really stupid. But that wouldn't stop her. She kept her head held high even if she averted her gaze from the teacher as she turned it in, turning quickly and walked back to her desk.
He's out to get youuuuu

2. To learn more about plants an animals. [She drew a picture of Olimar.]
3. They can be happy, sad, fall in love, and they all have different personalities. [A smiley face and a heart.]
4. A Pikmin can only reproduce if there are dirt around. Some animals or plants can only make more in a certain place.
5. I do not know. [A frowning face.]
6. All things make other things.
7. My sister Vianca can probably ingest venomous snap too. It would probably make it better because she is good at a lot of things. [A drawing of Vianca.]

2. It helps people understand how the world works, how each organism influences each other. The medical field in particular has advanced and grown thanks to learning how animals and plants interact and function.
3. They are made of cells, reproduce in some manner, need energy to live (through food or photosynthesis, etc.), and they all inevitably die.
4. If organisms do not reproduce enough, there will be less chance for genetic variation. Also, if the organisms cannot maintain an average birth rate, the species could possibly fade out and it would disrupt the food web, thus disrupting the ecosystem's biodiversity.
5. The equator has a more stable climate, whereas many northern or southern areas have greater diversity in their climate (for example, different weather for all 4 seasons). Extreme variation in climate can cause extinction for species.
6. While all living organisms normally have the innate ability for reproduction, there are some genetic mutations which either inhibit the organism from reproducing or, in higher level organisms, affect their brains and disrupts the "need" or "desire" to reproduce.
7. This protective tactic would decrease its biodiversity. Without a threat or predator that can successfully harm it, there would be no reason to adapt or mutate for better protection. Without enough genetic variation, if a disaster or climate change were to occur, the whole species would probably go extinct.

The study of life and living organisms with lots of sub-branches.
2. How do people benefit from scientific advancements in biology?
People are living organisms at the end of the day. What affects plants and animals and Pokemon affects us too.
3. What are four characteristics that all organisms share?
Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion, Nutrition
4. How does biodiversity depend on a species' ability to reproduce?
In a biome, all organisms are important to each other. A species' ability to reproduce allows other species to survive, most likely.
5. Why is biodiversity greater closer to the equator?
Warmer climes allow for a greater range of interactions between organisms. The temperature is constant at the equator thus there is no rapid changes in temperature which disrupts organism life cycles.
6. Why is reproduction considered a characteristic of life if not all living things reproduce?
All living things reproduce. That's why they're living. This question is faulty. Viruses reproduce but they're not living or are of questionable living status.
7. A Bloatsac can survive in most climates and terrains, and secretes a venomous sap over its body. Very few organisms can ingest this venomous sap and survive, making it an effective defense mechanism for the plant. Would this increase the Bloatsac's biodiversity or decrease it?
It allows it to survive so this increases the Bloatsac's biodiversity. If the trait is passed to the Bloatsac's offspring, it gives it more chances to reproduce because it won't be attacked by predators.

Helena has not done Bio in forever either
2. It helps us understand our role in the environment and how we affect other living things.
3. All organisms are comprised of cells, all have genetic make-up, reproduce in some way and maintain homeostasis.
4. A higher birthrate allows for a bigger variation in that species gene pool. Another species' survival may also depend on the success of other organisms such as predatory animals that depend on a large stock of their prey in order to survive.
5. Because it's warmer climate allowing a more stable environment for organisms to interact with one another.
6. All organisms do have the the innate ability to reproduce but genetic mutations will prevent individual organisms from reproducing.
7. Increase it. If the Bloatsac passes these traits on to its offspring, the offspring will have a better chance of surviving and reproducing. However, without having any natural enemies due to the venom, it's possible that it could result in overpopulation which can lead to over consumption of food and habitat.
