Snow

Who: Everyone
What: Snow day
Where: Campus
When: December 2nd-3rd
Warnings: Snow

[The weather outside is cold. More than below freezing. It was only a matter of time then.

By tomorrow, the entire campus will be covered in a tiny layer of white.]

[[OOC - There will be a thread for one specific time; 14:23. Those that wish to catch the first snowflake can fight for it there! Please note that apart from the fact it has 7 sides, and doesn't seem to melt, the snowflake does not hold special powers. Otherwise, start threads as you see fit.]]

Her Silph Co. infiltrating Diglett firebombing Beedrill exploding experiences in Kanto have left her with a slightly better understanding/appreciation of Pokemon worked, and knew Weavile was an ice type, so it wasn't a complete surprise to see him out here looking comfortable in his element.

However, at that comment Samus let out a short chuckle. "It's not at all, even with good treads on the tires." Was he reading her mind or something? Maybe he was a psychic type too. "That's one advantage of having a G-Diffuser installed on it." She explained. "The same kind that make all the cars in the F-Zero races hover above the ground." And over the snow.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
"G-Diffuser..." he mumbled. Listening to her explanation, he nodded. "Ah, yes. I believe I caught the races on TV a couple of times. Hovering does seem like an advantage in this sort of weather."

Quietly chuckling, he added, "Those races seem to be rather popular. I'm not much of a fan for racing or sports, really. But even I can't help but be impressed by some of the stunts they pull."

Weavile gazed down at the bike. "I take it you're a fan?"

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." She said with little hesitation. She never imagined herself becoming a fan either, but she found thrill and excitement in the races for numerous other reasons, boyfriend relations aside. Samus flicked off one last little glob of snow from the handle bars and likewise took to gazing at her pet project of two years. ...Two years already.

"Falcon installed it last year for me, but I've been adding modifications on and off." Her eyes darted around the parking lot, considering showing it off for Weaville but another thought occurred to her as she scanned over the populace of the other vehicles present; She had never really seen Weavile drive anything. Or anything that looked like something Weavile would drive. Then again he lived on campus, it probably wasn't necessary for him.

"Do you have a vehicle?" She asked anyway.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The question caught him off guard. Perhaps he had been too busy admiring the bike. Though really, since they were talking about racing and driving, he should've expected such a question.

Shaking his head, Weavile replied, "No, I don't. I don't even have a license. I prefer to use public transportation." Then again, he wasn't sure if any place other than FDC would even allow a Pokemon a license. He smirked, "It certainly cuts down on the price of gas."

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"No license?" She asked with a tint of mock surprise. It wasn't surprising, given the reasons he just said, but it was an unusual concept for her. Living in space her whole life meant lots of space ships and therefore licenses for said space ships.

"Have you ever wanted one?" It was freedom. "If price wasn't a problem."

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Weavile let out a thoughtful hum. He had entertained the idea before, certainly. But he simply didn't see a need for one.

"No," he slowly answered, "not particularly. Over the past few years, my places of work and residence had been nearby, so I never needed one. Plus, I don't travel much outside of the city."

He paused. Plenty of the faculty had their own vehicles: either cars, motorcycles, or floating warships. Even some of the older students had their own cars. "Do you think it's odd?"

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
An expected answer. "No." Samus answered. "Not for here, where it's not necessary."

The metal image of Weavile driving something now was tickling her curiosity.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Shrugging, he explained, "Cars weren't very common where I came from. They were used in other towns and cities in Sinnoh, but not near where I lived. The weather was too harsh for that. If anything, snowmobiles were the more preferred vehicle of choice."

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's north of Kanto, right?" She knew well cars weren't common in Poke-land, which made the mental imagery even more amusing. "So you've never been in a car before?"

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"More or less. Though I've never actually been to Kanto before." Weavile found it intriguing that Samus knew about Kanto. Enough to use it as a basis of direction at least. Then again, Kanto seemed to be the more touristy Pokemon location, being the homeland of notable figures like Professor Oak and such. "Where I lived in Sinnoh was particularly north. It snowed almost year round."

Thinking about the question, he slowly shook his head. "No. I occasionally considered sitting in during Driver's Ed, but I never got the chance." Grimacing, he recalled a particular less-than-pleasant evening due to that class. "Perhaps that was for the better..."

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
The geographical description and accompaying climate made complete sense to her. At mention of Driver's Ed, in a flash, Samus recalled all the sessions she had sat in and watched/unwillingly participated in. Power Rangers and War Wasps and Go Karts and Robot Unicorns, oh my. She shook her head, suppressing a forced smile. "...I can understand completely."

But... that didn't mean she still wasn't liable to want to show off her own vehicle. Samus rarely offered free rides, much less enjoyed the required physical contact that came with having a passenger clinging to her back, but there have been exceptions, certainly. The blonde approached her bike, threw one leg over and started the engine with an electric roar that quieted as quickly as it came on.

SHE LOOKED AT WEAVILE. Get on you know you want to.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
At first, Weavile thought Samus' actions meant it was the end of the conversation. It was a bit abrupt, but it wouldn't have been the first time that sort of thing had happened. But then she looked at him. It was a look of expectation.

After a moment of hesitation, the counselor decided to climb on. He had never been on a motorcycle before. Weren't they known for their speed and tricks? At least that's what he had heard through the grapevine. Either way, he trusted Samus to know what she was doing.

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Samus knew very much what she was doing--that, however, probably contradicted sharply to 'know how to drive in an acceptable manner with someone who's never been on a bike before'. Why, she was going to simply display just how much she knew what she was doing and how much control she had over the machine.

Weavile was in for quite a ride, and she silently commended his bravery for getting on. Said ride started out innocently enough; Samus first switched the bike into G-diffuser mode. At the flip of a switch, the tires rotated and tucked themselves into the shell of the machine but the bike itself remained the same distance off the ground as it had been before. Perhaps with only minor wobbling for a moment as it adjusted itself to this mode of travel. They were hovering in the air.

Samus started to move out of the parking lot, slowly increasing speed to a gentle cruise.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Apparently her motorcycle could also hover. Good to know. Probably would've been nice to know that before he got on the bike and was concerned over the wobbling. Oh well. Weavile wasn't one to complain over trivial details like that.

The ride itself was relatively calm. For the time being, at least. Samus knew how to drive and maneuver the vehicle. Gently placing his hands on her hips, he glanced over her shoulder to watch the road in front of them.

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
The road in front of them turned from parking lot, to grassy field that surrounded the school, dotted with the occasional tree that became more numerous until it comprised of the forest that bordered part the school. Samus made sure to stay clear of those.

With Weavile securely holding on, she took that as a cue to go faster, blazing over the snow and past the school buildings as the wind whipped past them. 50mph... 60mph.. 80mph... 90mph.. With only a slight bank as a warning, and a "Hang on!" she made a sharp skidding turn, and went back in the direction she came from. There was unfortunately, no race tracks around here, so she could only go so far and so fast with the limited open space.

So she decided to head for a slightly larger open space--Samus was now barreling towards the not-completely-frozen-over-yet lake.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Although there had been a warning, Weavile was not prepared for the increased speed or sharp turn. Flinching, his grip tightened. So this was the incredible speed of a motorcycle. For someone who had neither ridden nor driven one before, it was a bit overwhelming.

His hair whipped around in his face, but he wasn't about to release his grip. As he glanced to the side, he marveled at how fast the scenery passed by them. Or rather, they passed by it. How exhilarating, and a bit terrifying.

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Without relenting any speed, the bike smoothly transitioned over solid ground to the lake itself as if it were just part of the course. The edges of the lake had started to gloss over with a thin sheet of ice but the main body of the lake was still liquid. That would probably quickly change in the coming weeks, but for now the bike hovered over the icy water, kicking up a wake, while the frigid spray of water behind it seemed like it simply couldn't keep up with the speeding bike or it's passengers.

Samus wouldn't deny this was terribly fun.

She utilized the shore of the lake and turned around gently this time, following it's curve until they were back on their way to the parking lot. Just as quickly as the little joy ride had started, it rolled [hover-rolled] to a smooth stop in the parking lot. The bike's kick stand touching down and connecting the bike with solid ground again signified this.

"...So?"

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Racing over the lake, Weavile could feel some of the cool mist rolling off the water. Although it was nothing compared to the wake trailing behind them, it still felt refreshing. Carefully glancing over his shoulder, he watched the water tremble and crash behind them.

As the bike landed, Weavile sat still for a few moments. It was then that he realized he had been holding his breath. For how long, he wasn't sure. Slowly breathing out, he climbed off the bike. His legs were a bit shaky, but he regained balance soon enough.

"That was..." he paused, trying to think of the appropriate word. Fun. Dangerous. Exciting. "... an experience. Thank you." He shot her a small smile.

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
His simple reply betrayed the subtle expression on face, the excited glint in his eye, the slight tremble as he got off the bike. His simple reply was enough for Samus to know it certainly must of been quite an experience.

"Well, should you change your mind about that license thing, you can say you one little step closer to it.

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He chuckled. Somehow Weavile doubted there was a specific test for hovering motorcycles. Though it did spark a curiosity. If the counselor ever did require a license, perhaps a bike would be more convenient than a car.

And now he was weighing the pros and cons of vehicles. He blamed Samus for that. In the present, however, he was in no need of one. "Maybe. I'll keep that in mind."

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Samus simply gave a nod in reply satisfied her plan of inception. The rush was quite nice and she forgot how enjoyable it could be to sometimes drive with no particular destination in mind--especially when it wasn't being used as a brooding device. She kicked the stand back up and revved the engine.

"I think I'm going to go for another spin." Probably to see how many laps around the lake it took to agitate the lake Kraken. "I'll see you later."

[identity profile] midnitepsych.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Alright," Weavile waved. With a smirk, he added, "Have fun." And if he ever felt the need for another adrenaline rush, he now knew who to call.
