i saw mommy kissin santa claus
Who: YOU
What: KISSLETOES
When: December 15th - January 1st
Where: Everywhere
Warnings: Sloppy makeouts.
SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING...

The entire school has become covered in mistletoe overnight. It grows out of the walls! The ceilings! Everywhere you least expect it? HOW CAN THIS BE??
It's probably best not to think about it. Attempts to uproot the plants or burn them away only makes the plants grow back faster. For the time being, it seems the school must live with it.
The astute might find an unassuming note pinned the bulletin board in the main office. WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY MEAN??

[OOC INSTRUCTIONS:
+ Post dudes, get kisses!
+ Some (NOT ALL) plants are cursed. If you manage to step under a cursed plant, you are glued to the spot until you receive a kiss OR tell a secret--characters, of course, logically will not know about the secret option to start! The IC clue is the mysterious note.
+ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAG YOUR CHARACTERS
+ That's it, we love you.]

THE 20TH
It was a good thing Aoi was so used to warding off illness. Figuring that she would be completely fine and had nothing to worry about germ-wise, she marched herself over to his dorm, a few towels neatly folded in her arms.
AND THEN
SHE KNOCKED.
no subject
He wasn't the kind of guy who got sick often. But when he did, he got it bad.
"Asahina," he croaked, his head drooping forward a bit. "I can't... study today..."
no subject
"You don't have to study today, the semester's over. You don't have to study for two whole weeks!"
She did, however, fully expect him to want to study anyway. Maybe she could just kind of...encourage him to take a break.
"I was just going to bring you some things to help you feel better."
no subject
He was pretty sick. But he was also stubborn and couldn't let other people fuss over him. "There's no need for that! I have everything under control."
no subject
Right now, however, there was a more pressing problem, and that was Ishimaru sick and locked in his room.
"Don't be silly! It has to be boring in here by yourself!"
no subject
Oh boy Aoi are you ready to deal with some fever tripping. Should've run, girl.
no subject
Anything she was going to say after that was completely lost to what seemed to be some kind of feverish ramble. She didn't answer for a moment, the smile completely gone off her face, trying to puzzle out whether or not he was joking, or something. But Ishimaru wouldn't joke about something like this, and they both knew full well that Maizono was dead.
"Ishimaru," she said carefully, setting down her towels, "I think you should lay down."
no subject
But he could begrudgingly take a seat at the edge of his bed and resist the urge to burrow into the pile of blankets he had accumulated. Hopefully a certain biker didn't mind sick germs all over his quilt and the spare in the closet because Kiyotaka had monopolized all of them.
"You brought... towels?"
no subject
"Did you take any medicine?"
She wasn't sure if he was just delusional, or actually remembering things from their missing years.
"Right, the towels. Have you ever tried kanpu masatsu?"
no subject
"Ha ha... I thought you were going to suggest the bath."
Wow, even a normal and healthy Kiyotaka had enough social awareness not to say that or even think something so outrageous in the first place. It didn't even occur to him now that it would be wiser to mention that he was fully prepared to decline the offer.
"Kanpu masatsu... I'm afraid it's too late for preventative measures like that...!"
no subject
With that, she took one of the towels and began to demonstrate, dragging it behind her back. "Like this, see? I think it's more effective if you do it outside in the cold, but you're already sick, so we probably shouldn't go out there."
no subject
no subject
"For now you should relax, then. I brought you some movies! And I can go make you tea if you want."
no subject
As embarrassing as having her fuss over him was, there was a part of being taken care of that was... kind of nice. He decided it wasn't worth fighting against any longer.
"Tea sounds excellent. It promotes..." ...something... or another. He knew this. He did. He growled a little in frustration and tucked his knees up to his chest. Whatever, that wasn't worth it either. Time to just pathetically give up and switch focus, and his (incredibly shaky) focus was on the perfect girl taking care of him.
"...Anyway, you are very... caring and responsible." She really was perfect. "When it's safe to leave, let me introduce you to my parents."
no subject
Aoi had always been a little slow on the uptake. Someone like Naegi or Kirigiri would be able to figure out what was wrong in a second...but Naegi and Kirigiri weren't here. After the comment about Maizono's concert, she'd been trying to put the pieces together--something was obviously wrong with him, some kind of fever-induced something-or-other. What she did know was that he seemed to have his wires crossed. Aoi sunk down to sit on the edge of the bed.
"Ishimaru...we're not in Hope's Peak any more, remember?"
no subject
His brow furrowed in clear confusion. Right, this was Smash where nobody was killing each other and the city outside had been safe to roam again for a while, so what was he talking about?
"...My mind is not at its best," he confessed, looking away. "This isn't Hope's Peak. You're absolutely right."
no subject
BUT THEN SHE COULDN'T MOVE OFF THE BED BECAUSE MISTLETOE HAD GROWN OUT OF THE CEILING WHILE THEY WEREN'T LOOKING.
no subject
Kiyotaka just nodded and finally flopped back onto the bed, keeping himself tightly bundled in the towel, and stared at the ceiling.
He was very sure that there was something off about it.
Ah.
Well, maybe it wasn't one of the cursed ones. It could have been just the regular kind. He glanced over at Aoi, who would surely be standing up and going on her way to get tea ANY SECOND NOW.
no subject
"Ishimaru, I think I'm stuck."
no subject
Thanks for nothing, holiday season.
It wasn't that he didn't want to kiss Aoi. Not that he thought about it or anything! More than a few times...! But really, he was in no state to be kissing anyone right now. Who knew how many people he'd already spread the illness to? And besides, how did you go about smooching someone you actually had some inkling of wanting to. When it crossed the line from obligation to something more personal, it became so much more difficult.
"Do you... know about this yet?"
no subject
And now here she was, stuck on his bed while he was delusional with fever.
"Yeah, I do. We have to...we have to kiss, right?"
no subject
Oh good, she knew.
OH NO, SHE KNEW.
At least having to explain it to her could have been a good opportunity to delay it and hope something else happened. If his face weren't already flushed with fever it would be pretty red anyway. He was going to get her sick and she was going to hate him and he'd never get the opportunity again-
But, you know. He was definitely too busy with school things to even want the opportunity, anyway, right? HA...
Okay, he had to just man up and do it. She would be on her way and he would get tea out of it.
"In that case... I... am going to free you! Prepare yourself!"
Yeah right, it didn't matter how much determination he worked up before leaning closer, he still ended up frozen a few inches from her face.
no subject
She didn't know why she was nervous either--surely this wouldn't be any different than the platonic, necessary kisses she'd been exchanging all day, but here she was, heart pounding in her throat because Ishimaru was inches from her face.
Ishimaru--sweet, awkward, well-meaning Ishimaru, who worked so hard and tried his best, even when the goal was something silly like meeting every week to watch an anime about swimming. Sure, he still didn't quite grasp many of the nuances of teenage social interaction, and often he was much too intense for his own good, but he was, above all other things, a good friend. Maybe at one point, she'd invited him to watch silly shows with her because she'd felt a little sorry for him and she wanted him to loosen up (for his own good, of course), but now Aoi was feeling something entirely different as she realized how much she'd truly enjoyed their sessions.
If one could even call them sessions. Maybe they'd started that way, but they certainly weren't simple study meetings any more. They'd meet and talk and eat snacks and help each other with their homework and watch silly shows and she'd watch him come out of his shell and they'd have fun.
Aoi was still trying to piece together what that meant.
In the few moments she allowed herself to study his face, she wished she could drag up memories of those missing years but as always, she came up empty and that hurt more than anything else, eaten away by the frustration of knowing that at one point they'd been something to each other but being unable to recall the whats and whys of it. The worst of it was that there was nothing she could do except keep trying and hope that one day it wouldn't be an exercise in futility.
With that thought in her mind, she could do little else but close the rest of the distance, eyes sliding shut and lips meeting his perhaps slightly less tentatively than she intended.
no subject
Not that he'd stop her from being the one to end it, but the fact that she hadn't yet felt loaded with meaning he couldn't even begin to hope to decipher.
Unlike Aoi's, his eyes were wide open, staring at the face in front of him. He was still pretty clueless (
read: repressed as hell) when it came to deducing whether or not a woman was supposed to be considered pretty or anything, but he would count Aoi in that category in a heartbeat. And his was threatening to pound right out of his chest at this rate. But what he found more important than that was that she was so earnest and hardworking and devoted to her passions - this crush he failed to acknowledge as such began when he saw her in her natural pool habitat, after all - and most of all, whether they were studying or watching TV or just talking, he genuinely had fun with her.On top of all that, the fever muddling his memories and sense of time all together unearthed a stronger attachment than ever.
Too bad it didn't help him figure out the important things right now, like: where should he put his hands? Was he supposed to smoosh his face more against hers? Why were longer kisses so difficult? Maybe if he just... put his hands on her shoulders...
Inexperience aside, he was ready to consider it a perfect moment that nobody could ruin.
(It was about to get totally ruined.)
no subject
What she did know was that 1) this was definitely going on for longer than a platonic friend kiss, 2) his hands had relocated to her shoulders, and 3) it was kind of nice.
The direct result was that she saw no reason to stop.
