Dorm Log

[raw_angel_power]

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

"Geez, I bet..." Hilda trailed off and brought a hand up to her cheek and thought about it. "I hope that luck don't run out anytime soon, then." She really wants to be one of those lucky sons of guns one day! In the meantime, though, she's happy to do whatever she can to help folks out. MOPS AND ALL

Kitty shrugged, "It'll end when it ends and there's really no point worryin' bout it really. I'm sure things will be fine or whatever, ain't like we haven't faced fucked up shit enough as it is and hell, I've heard this place has had it's fair share of fucked up crazyness way before I even came here so they can handle themselves."

Crossing her arms, Kitty leaned against a wall to watch over Hilda. "So, ya gonna continue scrubbing them damn floors or ya gonna leave it to the rest?" She'd prefer the latter, but if the girl insisted on helping then... she supposed she had nothing better to do and would keep an eye on her.

"I guess... Stuff always goes back to normal fast around here, yeah." Or, you know, as normal as things could be. She just kind of wished that all the weird life-threatening stuff would end sooner rather than later.

Hilda looked down at the puddle, over at Kitty, and then back at the puddle again. Was she done trying to clean that mess up? It was still a little soggy and she had plopped her grody wet running shoes in a corner, but was that good enough? "Uh... I think I can leave it." She began lugging the stuff she took out back to the supply closet and took a second to look for a WET FLOOR sign. "You wanna do something that ain't as much of a drag?" She joked.

Hey, whatever the girl wanted to do was up to her, and Kitty would, for whatever reason, hang out while she did it. But she'd be caught dead before cleaning up the place for the staff. Hell. No.

As Hilda went back and forth and then putting the stuff back, Charlise raised an eyebrow. "Huh? Oh, shit man, suits me well enough." she smirked a little. "Anything in mind?"

And then Hilda suggested they go into the city and pick up roadside litter for fun. No? How about helping little old ladies cross streets!? A THRILL!!

"I dunno," She replied, "I was gonna go run but my shoes are kinda messed up right now. Uh... You play video games? Got any hobbies?" Maybe it would be a good idea to throw those shoes at a dryer, in the meantime.

You mean trash it some more and push them into bushes? Yeah she'd be down for that!

Kitty shrugged, feigning disinterest. "I've played video games, yeah. I don't mind them, some are fun." she paused, looking her over. She'd probably have to withhold some of her favorite hobbies... "I like collecting stuff, and watching movies in my room. I guessI don't mind going out stealing shopping."

"Oh, yeah?" Hilda asked, picking up her shoes. "What sorta stuff do you collect? Like, trading cards or stamps and stuff like that?" She did not have the patience to collect things, but collections themselves were always pretty neat to look at.

"Oh well...." Okay, at this point in time you'll actually see Kitty blush, hard. She never really had a reason to disclose just WHAT she collected cause most of the time, no one bothered to ask, or let alone care aside from the very, very few people who she cared about.

So now disclosing it to someone she met recently and that had wormed their way into her inner circle was a bit embarrassing. I mean, who likes admitting they're a hoarder/pack rat?

"Well, you know... a bit of everything..."

As long as it wasn't garbage it wasn't a problem. "Really?" Or spooky dolls. Please don't have a room full of spooky dolls. "I gotta check it out sometime!"

She grinned and gave Charlise a pat on the shoulder. "All right, one more question: What kinda video games do you like?" Jeez, she was like an annoying puppy, someone take her away...

"Heh, yeah... sometime." Or never, that was cool too! I mean, most people would just make fun of her and she'd hate that...

"S'far as game, I dunno, shit... anything that isn't boring. I guess I get a kick ot of watching let's plays of scary games. Heh. Love seeing them little shits screaming at all the jump scares." she laughed a little evilly. "So I guess scary games, or those discory games where you're like abandoned and shit and you gotta figure out the misteries of wherever the fuck you're at."

"Man, I shoulda guessed!" Hilda laughed, "I'm thinkin' we need a movie marathon for Halloween."

Scary games... She had played a grand total of, like, one. That she didn't finish. And as for puzzle-mystery games there was no way she was smart enough to figure those things out. "Hey, let's go check out what they got in the common room!"

"What now?" she looked a bit surprised. What if there's people? She didn't quite get along with most and people just didn't quite get her in turn. But the reaction did sound kind of stupid considering they were thinking of hanging out.

"Err, yeah. Sure. Let's check it out."

"What's up?" She asked, noting the lack of enthusiasm. "You wanna do something else? Like, uh... Board games? Hang out on the roof? Watch videos of, like, cats or people making bacon towers and stuff on the computer? Most of the stuff I like doin' is outside and the only other shoes I got are flip-flops."

"Oh no, that's not it." she said quickly, a bit annoyed that she let her feelings show. "Was just thinking on some shit s'all. Nothing that matters."

With a huff, she crossed her arms and thought. "Games are fine dude, I'm down with that. The fuckin' pool might be open too an' that's always a good chillaxin' place." And chances were low that anyone would be using it in the middle of all this fuckery so she wouldn't have to deal with douchebags and the sort.

"Oh... Gotcha." The common room it was, then!

"I gotta take a shortcut first, but if you wanna like... Head to the common room to scope it out, that's cool with me." She held up her shoes, "I need to put these in the sun or they're gonna start getting funky."

"Heh, right. Forgot you were carrying part of the fountain in your shoes." Kitty smirked before waving her off.

"I'll be alright, see ya there."

With that, she ran outside to find a place for her shoes to dry. she left a note on them saying HILDA'S PLZ DONT STEAL Once that was settled she bustled back in and made her way through to the common room. "'Kay, done!" Hilda hunched over in front of the TV to examine the game consoles. "...Y'know, I ain't ever seen, like, half of these."

Kitty, taking her time to reach said common room in addition to scoping it out before even deciding to step in hadn't sat down for that long before Hilda arrived.

However, she did find a few games she enjoyed pretty quickly and had been setting them aside for maybe a bit later. "Huh? Really? Well... pick one I guess, we'll see what they got to offer."

"I got one of the newer ones at home and I know these guys," She gestured toward all the 'made-after-2005' systems, "But like, all these other ones, I ain't ever heard of 'em." So much blocky yellowed plastic that she had no idea how to work...

"Anyways, uh... What they got?" She asked as she at the game shelves. "Residence Vile, Quiet Mountains...? Um, 'H-E-Double Hockey Sticks' House... Uh... I don't even know where to start. You find anything?"

"I heard my old..." Was she even friend anymore? How long had it been? Had she even bothered keeping in touch? Kitty felt a tinge of anger, then despair for a moment before shaking it off. "Someone I knew used to say Resident Vile was pretty good. I found one of my favorites still here," she added, raising a box for Framing Fataly up to Hilda.

"I have to admit I've log in a lot of hours on this stupid game too," she said as she held up Datamacy Kamary. "It's like, deceptively addictive." she smiled a little, trying to still shake off the earlier feeling. "Duplicate Destinies is pretty good too."

She headed over to get a better look at the boxes that Charlise had collected and brought over the ones she had dug up. She flipped the box for Residence Vile over, "Uh, zombies...?" Hmm.

Hilda took a look at the case Kitty was holding, "Framing Fatally... Is that about, like, killer picture frames or something?" She let out a nervous laugh, "Naw, I'm jokin', but I've super never heard of it before."

"Yeah, zombies. They're pretty fuckin' awesome and this series is particularly good at them shits. Well, barrin' some of the new crap but overall their games are fuckin' good." Kitty stated before turning to look at Hilda.

"Oh, no, well maybe haha" Kitty grinned, shaking her head. "Depending of how you look at it, it technically is about taking killer pictures. Or more like, trying to survive a haunted area full of angered spirits while trying to search for x person who's dear to you armed only with a special picture frame that you have to hover in front of you and try to frame said spirits in order to protect yourself."

"No way..." Color her impressed! She set the other games aside with the rest of them and diverted all her interest to what Kitty was talking about. "Dude, that sounds radical." How did it work? Was there a reason it was a picture frame? Why didn't any other games she knew do crazy stuff like that, anyway!?

"Wanna start with that one?" She asked, gesturing towards the killer pictures one.

Charlise could be seen actually smiling a little, maybe even a bit sheepish but she shrugged that off and grinned.

"Ain't it? It's pretty fuckin' awesome. And sure, you can have a crack at it first since it's single player." As was most of everything Kitty played, you know, antisocial and all that.

"Fair--" should she warn her that the game is full of fucking scary scenes and lots of jump scares? ... Naw!

"Have fun! I'll be rooting fer ya." she grinned mischievously.

OH, NO... She did not catch on at all. This was going to be a disaster. She turned the appropriate system on and put in the disc, sitting herself down in front of the television with the confidence of a pro.

Things were looking good when the game started and through the opening scene, and the spooky old mansion on a dark and stormy night wasn't freaking her out yet. She knew what she was doing! Uh, sort of, after a minute of spinning the character around in circles. Things continued to go well for about ten minutes, when the character started looking around a room in the house. Lightning flashed outside the windows and when the thunder followed, she noticed a painting on the wall had disappeared. Hilda yelped at the discovery, "Wh-where'd it go...?"
