Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

Jock continued to reach up to lick the muzzle and succeeded only in licking Jon's chest.

"I can't... reach your face... so you're... a trainer that sometimes is a pokemon. Do you like being a pokemon more or do you like being a people more?"

Growlithes are super brave, Jon. So brave. He stood up on his hind legs and reached up to reach his face even better.

Hold it together, Jon. He's not.... it won't hurt you to put up with this.... Take it easy. Breathe deeply. Maintain your center, hold your focus...

He shifted backwards so that the Pup's forefeet would be forced to find the ground again. His arms twitched, but he didn't push the puppy away. He was afraid that doing so would end poorly.

"I like both equally well. Each has advantages." Something Jock himself would learn, eventually.

"You need to let me kiss your face," said Jock, as he tumbled forward. "You'll feel better if I give you a kiss. Everybody feels better after they get a kiss. And then you can, you can give me a kiss and, and everybody will be happy."

He reached up again to lick Jon's muzzle.

Agh. No. Calm down and just... walk away. That's going to be the best for both of us. Make it up to him whenever you're back to normal, lad.

"Oughtn't you go and make sure your trainer isn't having troubles in the dark?"

"But, but, but," whined Jock. "But, I want, I want to be your friend." He's whining at you now.

The eyes he's giving you would melt the iciest heart. "I just... I just... want to be friends... Mama... Mama... Maaaaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..."

Now he's puppy sobbing, which sounds like sad howlings. You've made this adorable puppy cry, Jon. Look at him sobbing for his mother.

Jon was less moved than he might normally be. Markedly so. However, he could only foresee this escalating if swift actions weren't taken. While he could get up and walk away from a cute puppy, having to have a conversation with an irate Human Trainer over the upset that puppy was feeling because of how he'd behaved would be infinitely more troublesome. And he'd be more likely to snap at a Human. Literally snap. As in, bite at.

So, he had two avenues of action open to him.

One: A swift bite to the little dog's neck and then bury him in the woods. The Perfect Crime.

Two: Or not be a murderous psychopath, struggle to maintain some level of decency and try to regain his focus. Self discipline...

"Oi. Cut that out, eh?" he said, dropping to all fours again. "I apologize. The dark sky... doesn't sit well with me."

"I feel bad too; I just want to cuddle," he continued. "Why do you hate me? Cuddling... cuddling makes you feel better-er-er-er."

"I don't hate you! When did I say I hated you!?" Jon replied, a little incredulously. Obviously this Pup had never known hate, because it was definitely a far darker thing than that.

He relented and leaned down, dragging his tongue over the Pokémon's ruff. "...I'll be your friend. I apologize. I'm not a very cuddly person at the best of times and right now, I hardly even want to be around myself let alone others. But I'd no wish to upset you."

Jock reached up and licked Jon's snout as many times as he possibly could.

"See you feel better now," said Jock. "Because we're friends and now you don't hate me," skirting the issue of when, exactly, it was that Jon hated him.

"Do you like naps?" he asked.

"I don't sleep much, no." Jon replied, just.... lying down in defeat and allowing the little dog to do whatever it was the little dog wanted to do. "I'm generally busy in the day, and most nights I like to wander."

"Maybe that's why you're so grumpy," said Jock. "I bet if you had a nap, you'd feel better. You should take a nap with me. I'm real warm, 'cause I have fire inside of me. You should have a nap," instructed the tiny Growlithe to the giant werewolf. He sat down next to the larger creature and tucked himself into Jon's side, then yawned.

Maybe, once Jock was asleep, Jon could move on and leave him to rest. That couldn't be such a bad idea, right?

"You should probably sleep for at least an hour," suggested Jock as he rolled over onto his belly next to Jon, then rolled back onto his paws.

"You need to curl around me," said Jock. "You should put your tail in front of me. We'll look cute and I'll feel warmer even without the sunshine. And you can keep warm, too."

"Alright. Alright, I'll do that as soon as you stop moving about." Jon replied, getting his tail ready to drop in front of the puppy's face.

"I have to get comfortable," said Jock. "You don't have a lot of fat around your middle, so you aren't very soft."

That's probably a compliment, Jon.

He yawned again, and leaned against the werewolf.

"Do you get enough to eat? I like to eat pidgies."

"I can't eat pidgey. I'd lose my trainers license." Jon replied. "Oh, I eat plenty enough, lad. Never you mind. We've an Ursaring called Nancy here who takes fairly good care of that."

He didn't eat nearly as much as some people. But he got his fair share.

"I also hunt game in the woods out back of the school."

...that's where he should be. Taking out his sour mood on all the stupid deer.

"If you were just a pokemon, you could eat pidgies," said Jock. "I have to catch my own dinner when I go camping with my mom. Sometimes Senna gets dinner for me, too, but I like to get it on my own to show that I'm big and strong and I don't need a charizard to get me my dinner. You probably like getting your own dinner better, too."

He paused, and put his head down on the floor.

"We're good friends."

"Aye. Yes. Good friends."

He wasn't surprised by this. Puppies were notoriously easy to befriend. If you couldn't befriend a Puppy, you were clearly Not Quite Right somehow.

"I do prefer to catch my own meals, yes. I enjoy the hunt moreso than the meal most times."

"Well, you can't hunt Blue, or I'd have to, I'd have to stop you," said Jock, yawning deeply. "So don't think about it." His yawn that followed this one was even deeper than the first.

"Remember to fall asleep," said Jock. "It doesn't count if," yawn, "you don't sleep, too."

"I've not hunted Humans for quite some time. She's safe."

Not since his younger years, when he was wilder and more fierce and unable to control his urges even slightly. He'd never killed anyone that hadn't attacked him first, but the hunt... the hunt had been thrilling.

"Never you mind what I do. Concentrate on drifting off yourself and I'm sure I'll follow."

Jock licked wolfman's side, then yawned again.

His eyes closed, and he stopped talking.

His breathing became slow and regular.

I think... yes, he's asleep now.

Alright. OK. Alright. Time to get up veeeeeeeery gently and leave the child to his slumber.

So gently. So very carefully...

...is it going to wake up? Or is it oblivious to the world now that it is napping?

The sleeping puppy bites the fur on your middle with his puppy teeth.

"mmmmgmmggghgggmgmghgghggggmmmmggggghhgghhh," he says sleepily, with a mouthful of your hair in his mouth.

"Bother."

Alright. Fine. He might as well at least try to sleep. Maybe Jock is right and a little nap will improve his mood.

He lay down and closed his eyes and tried to stop his brain from running wild all over the place now that his body had become immobilized by little puppy face.

The adorable puppy let go of his fur and went back to being adorably asleep.

But wait, wait what's that he's moving his paws now and making little tiny adorable noises. He's dreaming about chasing something.
