Once upon a time I was falling in love...
Who: Sonny, Voile
When: May 18 - Early Afternoon
What: She's showing him the contest hall. And treating him to lunch.
Where: FDC
Warnings: Hardly.
"When was the last time we spent a day together like this?"
She'd asked it to herself as her slow steps took her to Sonny's new room. It was a shame that he wouldn't be rooming with Vinnie any longer, but she had a feeling the Venusaur would be quite pleased to have such a delightful welcoming. Nothing like coming home to family, after all. And not too long ago, she wouldn't have known too much about what that was like.
She had an idea of it in the present, however, and the mere thought made her smile.
Voile stopped outside of his door, looking ready for the summer. After a few cycles of lacing her hands together and unlacing them, she finally sucked up all of her courage and knocked.
And hopefully he hadn't forgotten.

And hopefully he hadn't forgotten.

An idly passing thought because naturally she always got breakfast in the morning, even if it was something small, but that was probably something Sonny was accustomed to. One of the few things that hadn't changed while he was away.
"That... would be nice. I'd hate to be a bother, though. It's fine for me to waste time on my hair. It's mine and all. Boys should be doing boy things. Not playing with hair."

"I think that's more a girl thing to do. Maybe. But then, this is you we're talking about, Sonny. Not feminine, but much more in touch with your emotions. It's part of what's always kept me enamoured with you." A short little nod was given, "I like that about you."
no subject
Really, he didn't know how to NOT be in touch with his emotions. He knew how to bottle them up somewhat, when he felt he needed to. But it was always a very conscious thing. And he'd never really felt he had to do so with her.
"I'm glad you do! Well, I guess if it's more of a girl thing, that's OK. I want to do it anyway, so, it's just going to have to be a 'This Boy' thing instead of an 'Every Boy' thing. I think that's OK!"
no subject
She nodded with what seemed to be her acceptance. "I suppose if you really want to help me out, I shouldn't turn you down. It's just another excuse for me to see you, after all, and honestly, I could use a few of those at least." Not that she imagined he'd understand why she was looking for excuses instead of just saying she wanted to be near him.
So maybe she was a little embarrassed to admit that.

"We can trade books. And read books together. Because I know you like books. And we still need to see the contest hall, because we aren't doing that today. And then there's always things liiiike... Oh! I can show you how to bake cookies! And you can show me how you make poffins. And we can always make plans to go and water things in the greenhouse. So, don't worry, OK? Because any time you want to see me, there can be a reason."
no subject
"Ah... You're embarrassing me, Sonny... Do you really have to say things like that?"
But she honestly really loved everything he said, because it was true.

Then she peeked over her fingertips at him, "I mean! Uhm. I just want you to-" What followed next was... a lot of laughing. Embarrassed laughter, but laughter all the same, which was better than her looking so solemn. "Oh, you caught me."
Peeking between her fingers at him, she held a smile, "Of course I like hearing things like that. Something of a weakness of mine. I'm not against affection, Sonny."

Her feature softened as she continued, "I've never had anyone have that kind of effect on me."
no subject
He broke the hug and reached for her hand instead. They still had some ground to cover before they could eat and he was rather hungry.
no subject
"You're too much, Sonny. I'll start blushing and I won't be able to stop if you keep that up. Not that I'm sure you'd mind." Then her grin turned a little more clever, "I think you just like that my eyes are on you." Figuratively and literally.
And then her pace began again. Lunch was probably a thing they should have done.
no subject
"I'm pretty hungry by now!" he said, changing subjects briefly. "I'm glad they have all you can eat bread sticks! I remember those were really, really good."
no subject
She was a little relieved when he gave them another topic. Squeezing his hand gently, she found her feet picking up again. Food sounded good.
"What do you feel like having? I mean, what do you think you'll order? It's been a while since we've gone, after all."
no subject
He swung his arms a little as they walked, her hand in his tracing gentle, lazy arcs in the air between them.
"What about you? Salad?" he asked. He remembered she was far more a fan of lighter dishes than heavy ones, and vegetables over things that were meaty.
no subject
Tipping her head, Voile continued, unaware of how she seemed to relax in his mere midst. "I'm thinking salad with some raspberry vinaigrette and cranberries. Walnuts, maybe? That sounds really good. I'd ask your opinion, but I'm aware that's not really your thing."
no subject
He licked his lips. Mmm. That actually sounded good. Maybe he'd get one as an appetizer.
no subject
"Since you seem to like salads to some degree, perhaps I'll share some of mine with you."
no subject
Because. Green leaves. They were a dollop of ranch away from being a real salad.
no subject
She knew he was altruistic enough to offer it. Voile just liked the idea of teasing him a little. They'd been apart for so long, after all.
"But since you invited me so nicely, I won't be rude and turn you down." So when they did manage to arrive at the restaurant, she motioned for him to go in first.
no subject
"Good! It will be nice because we'll get to try twice as many foods that way." he said with a sage nod. More kinds of food meant more kinds of awesome in his book.
He ordered a lemonade for himself to drink and asked if they could bring two extra baskets of the bread sticks. Because he really did intend to eat a lot of bread sticks.
no subject
She did nab some of his bread sticks, but chances were in eating pace, she was far slower. Kind of a bird she was with the way she picked at her food.
Peeking at him over the top of her menu, she tried to keep her smile to a minimum, but didn't have much luck. "I was wondering... Is this something you'd want to do again?"
no subject
His own glance at the menu was quick - he knew exactly what he wanted to get. Mmmmm - he was looking forward to some Lasagna!
"What about you? Do you want to do this kind of thing lots too?"
no subject
She didn't say it and though she thought it, she didn't direct the thoughts to him. Instead, she simply eyed him with some consideration and after a few moments, she nodded.
"Yes," Voile admitted. "I feel very happy right now. I wonder how much of that is your happiness, however, and how much of it is mine."
