Once upon a time I was falling in love...
Who: Sonny, Voile
When: May 18 - Early Afternoon
What: She's showing him the contest hall. And treating him to lunch.
Where: FDC
Warnings: Hardly.
"When was the last time we spent a day together like this?"
She'd asked it to herself as her slow steps took her to Sonny's new room. It was a shame that he wouldn't be rooming with Vinnie any longer, but she had a feeling the Venusaur would be quite pleased to have such a delightful welcoming. Nothing like coming home to family, after all. And not too long ago, she wouldn't have known too much about what that was like.
She had an idea of it in the present, however, and the mere thought made her smile.
Voile stopped outside of his door, looking ready for the summer. After a few cycles of lacing her hands together and unlacing them, she finally sucked up all of her courage and knocked.
And hopefully he hadn't forgotten.

And hopefully he hadn't forgotten.

She was a little relieved when he gave them another topic. Squeezing his hand gently, she found her feet picking up again. Food sounded good.
"What do you feel like having? I mean, what do you think you'll order? It's been a while since we've gone, after all."
no subject
He swung his arms a little as they walked, her hand in his tracing gentle, lazy arcs in the air between them.
"What about you? Salad?" he asked. He remembered she was far more a fan of lighter dishes than heavy ones, and vegetables over things that were meaty.
no subject
Tipping her head, Voile continued, unaware of how she seemed to relax in his mere midst. "I'm thinking salad with some raspberry vinaigrette and cranberries. Walnuts, maybe? That sounds really good. I'd ask your opinion, but I'm aware that's not really your thing."
no subject
He licked his lips. Mmm. That actually sounded good. Maybe he'd get one as an appetizer.
no subject
"Since you seem to like salads to some degree, perhaps I'll share some of mine with you."
no subject
Because. Green leaves. They were a dollop of ranch away from being a real salad.
no subject
She knew he was altruistic enough to offer it. Voile just liked the idea of teasing him a little. They'd been apart for so long, after all.
"But since you invited me so nicely, I won't be rude and turn you down." So when they did manage to arrive at the restaurant, she motioned for him to go in first.
no subject
"Good! It will be nice because we'll get to try twice as many foods that way." he said with a sage nod. More kinds of food meant more kinds of awesome in his book.
He ordered a lemonade for himself to drink and asked if they could bring two extra baskets of the bread sticks. Because he really did intend to eat a lot of bread sticks.
no subject
She did nab some of his bread sticks, but chances were in eating pace, she was far slower. Kind of a bird she was with the way she picked at her food.
Peeking at him over the top of her menu, she tried to keep her smile to a minimum, but didn't have much luck. "I was wondering... Is this something you'd want to do again?"
no subject
His own glance at the menu was quick - he knew exactly what he wanted to get. Mmmmm - he was looking forward to some Lasagna!
"What about you? Do you want to do this kind of thing lots too?"
no subject
She didn't say it and though she thought it, she didn't direct the thoughts to him. Instead, she simply eyed him with some consideration and after a few moments, she nodded.
"Yes," Voile admitted. "I feel very happy right now. I wonder how much of that is your happiness, however, and how much of it is mine."

no subject
Then her expression softened, "The point is that I think I feel happy, which is very out of the ordinary for me. If I think I am, then I must be, and that's good enough for me."
no subject
Because times ahead were bound to be more than a little confusing. So, hopefully, she could just remember that much. Hold on to it until everything had been figured out and sorted through and he'd caught up and made up for the year he'd been missing.
His lemonade and the baskets of brad arrived, and he was quick about picking up his glass and a piece of bread.
no subject
"I... know that," she confessed very softly. Her lips curled into a smile and Voile gave him a nod. "I also wish very much for your happiness." And she knew there was probably nothing she wanted more. Out of sight did not mean out of mind where he was concerned.
Tipping her head to her menu, she pulled a face, "Hum. Ravioli sounds good. Have you had it before? They have some with butternut squash?"
no subject
He did another quick look over the menu himself, but was still pretty set on the lasagna, so, that was what he ordered.
no subject
She opened her mouth as if she tried to imagine stuffing a lot of food in it. And she couldn't. "Well, I guess mine's really small in either form..."
no subject
"I've never choked doing something like that. It's fun! as a Human, it's kind of like trying to see how many of those big marshmallows you can fit in your mouth at once. It's a game! But I'll try to be careful when I do it, OK?"
He didn't want to worry her, after all.
no subject
"I can think of so many better ways to put a marshmallow to good use," she pointed out. "You know, other than potentially choking to death." What a pessimistic way of looking at it, and yet still truthful. "Try to keep yourself on the living plane, okay? I don't know how to bring people back. It's not one of my abilities."
But she did wind up giving him a rather skeptical look, "To be fair, you could probably use some new hobbies, sweetheart."
no subject
This is what he thinks is fun. No-one ever said he was an entirely normal person.
"New hobbies....? Hmm. Maybe. Do you know what I've always kind of wanted to try doing? I've always wanted to try playing those little guitars with the four strings..." He made a strumming motion with one hand. "....Ukulele. Those."
no subject
As he continued, however, she felt a part of herself soften. Ridiculous was out of the picture and replaced with a sweet and sentimental romanticism. And perhaps that was because Voile had quite the love for music. Acoustic music was a plus, which she would have classified the ukulele under.
"Really? That's... Have you ever played a musical instrument before?"
no subject
"I actually never have, no." he replied. "It's something I've thought about trying since I got to become a Human, but I've just never gotten around to it inbetween everything else. But this one time, I saw some people on TV playing them. It looked kind of easy and the music was really fun!"
He hummed a few bars for her. It was a bouncy, lively tune - the kind you might hear in a commercial for travel and accommodation at an Island resort.
no subject
"You know it's not as easy as just picking it up and strumming it, right? I don't know much in the way of actual instruments, but I'm pretty sure there's more to it." Tapping at her chin, she frowned minutely, as if she was attempting to put together some form of plan.
"I think you'd need lessons, but I don't know of anyone here who could help you." She doubted most of the people in the academy even know what one was to begin with.
no subject
He paused at the mention of lessons.
"Probably there's either somewhere in town you could learn to play or there might be a website about it. There's websites about almost anything you could think of that you want to learn."
no subject
When she quieted, her smile was soft and pleasant. "That's a good point. There are a lot of resources here. I'm sure if you're really so interested in it that you'll find a way to make it work. If you do somehow manage to, Sonny, you'd best know that I'd like to hear you play."
