Mother Nature had one hell of a temper, and if not that, then perhaps a sadistic sense of humor. The world was Her plaything, a marionette at best, and the people who lived on it, rather unfortunate victims to Her sometimes violent moodswings. For only She could start with an overcast, grey sky, and splatter across it heavy clouds, treacherous storms, and relentless armies of snowflakes that had lost all endearment only to become companions of inconvenience and burden. Someone or something had maddened her greatly - or so would have been the assumption if one gave reason to believe in Sprites of Nature who controlled an entire world's plethora of environments.

Yet Smash Academy had only been given a taste of what was to come. And since they were such diligent and well-behaved little pets, She had reason to reward them. With more entertaining obstacles that would, no doubt, impede their precious plans that somehow took precedence to pleasing and sating her. No, they had not appreciated their darling sunshine days, clear blue skies, and painful sunburns.

"Stop playing at your human-made technological machines and bask in the glorious sun I gave to you!" she wished she could have said. But somehow winter's torment, she knew, would be a far sweeter revenge upon ungrateful children.

And that was how it had begun.

By stand alone days of simple snowfall and ambitious winds, there would be no suspicion of greater minds and hands at work. Steadily through the week, each day became harsher than the last. And like a great many number of battles in a war, there came a pinnacle for Her success. She sent the most worthy blizzard down to the surface in its invincible path and rendered for them a weekend She was certain the town and academy's citizens would remember for some time to come.

One moment was mostly peaceful, and as calm as unruly weather would allow. In some places music played. In some places, lights were dimly lit to provide a pathway. In some places, there was the happy clicking and tapping at a computer. In some places, showers and baths were being taken, savored, and enjoyed. And in other places, unsuspecting people had taken to idle chitter and chatter with other friends who were likely down the hall.

But in the next...

All went black and silent, save for the whipping wind and strangling branches of trees, as if whispering threats of what people would find in the dark.

One Mr. DeLite knew the school had generators. He was very, very aware of this fact. He even knew the supposed life the generators should provide the school in the event of a power outage, but an hour wasn't right.

So once the power went out, Ron jumped and looked around him, confused. Perhaps it was just a glitch, and he would need to find someone with technical proficiency to get the power back up again. Without too much hesitation, Ron headed directly for the generators themselves. It was his duty to ensure that everything was alright!

It didn't take long for him to arrive at the scene. With him, he held a flashlight (which was now on), and he eased open the door that lead to the backup generators. Now, what could be the problem here...? He hoped to get down to the bottom of this.

[Ocelot is caught in the hallway when the power goes out. And despite all his bragging of ocelot-like habits, he can't see in the dark as a cat would.]

[He doesn't stay put long. He walks at his usual pace, but with one hand trailing against the wall for guidance and the other resting on top of the gun at his hip. He'd love to find his room to wait out the power outage in, but he really has no idea where he is.]

[His spurs jingle noisily with every step, accompanied by an occasional frustrated curse.]

[He expected the building would at least hold heat for longer. At least until he got to his room. But when the deep cold sinks in, he can't ignore it. Even the bitter cold around Groznyj Grad didn't seem this bad, and he rarely had to be out when it was.]

[Maybe he should continue down the hallway to stay moving. But he's tired and frustrated, and he submits to the urge to just sit down by the wall and hug his knees instead, futilely attempting to hold his own warmth.]

[Ivan was fairing a bit better in the cold, but not by much. He has to force his jaw to stay still and not chatter as he made his way along the wall towards what he hopes was the direction of his room.

He speaks in English, heavily accented and a little tense thanks to his trying not to shiver.]

Where's the damn--ah! [That's when his foot hits something huddling against the wall. He almost trips, but manages to catch himself by grabbing on to whatever was below him. It all happens so fast he doesn't even have time to register it.]

Shadow spends a nice amount of the time of the power outage in his dorm room, unsurprisingly. He can be found either jotting down some unknown text in a tome with a velvety red hardcover, or he can be seen sipping tea while reading a book. His life, as anyone can see, is very, very riveting.

Care to barge into his house? He tends to keep the door locked, but sometimes, he forgets. Along with that, his window is unlocked...

Although it happens less often, he can also be found skulking about outside of his room, checking out just about anywhere possible in the school to keep himself occupied. Even he gets bored of some eloquent literature and thought dumps to keep himself busy, so he has to brave the outside world of annoying people and crying brats to enjoy himself.

His mood due to the blackout is no better or worse than his usual, but he's just slightly more pleasant to approach outside of his quarters. Slightly.

N, however, is much less reclusive. He can really be found just about anywhere, not holing up in his room, but rather, taking advantage of the blackout to socialize and have a good time with those doing little things to survive until electricity returns.

It's survival of the fittest without the luxury of electricity. Awful for some, an opportunity for N!

Who knows? You might even catch him in the common room, looking to make a cute little fire with a faux-chimney. (Zoroark does have flamethrower, you know.)

Someone doesn't like being holed up either. Noticing N in the common room, he grabbed a couple blankets. Because...why not? He could use them. His Pokemon could use them. And can use them.

The snow was too crazy to go out in, so he took a siesta.

Phoenix Wright - Anytime

Scenario 1
Phoenix was in the hallway when the power finally gave out. He wasn't exactly surprised, seeing as the blizzard had gotten worse and worse. It was unnerving, though, since the hallways were almost completely black at the moment. He had to get back to his room or something and find a flashlight.

However, his mind did go to Edgeworth for a moment. Edgeworth didn't do well with power outages, though this one wasn't caused by an earthquake. But even so, Phoenix hoped that he wasn't in an elevator or something.

Still, his movements were more hurried as his hands felt along the wall and tried to make his way to his room to grab his flashlight.

Scenario 2
It was getting colder and colder. Phoenix had found his flashlight by now and was mostly patrolling the hallways to make sure that everyone was okay. He wasn't exactly a member of security or anything, but he still had a duty to everyone.

Phoenix wore that dorky blue sweater that Samus had given him for Christmas, since it was quick and easy to put on, though he was still cold. He could see his breath with the light of his flashlight.

Scenario 2

Lost in the dark, Phoenix's flashlight was the first light she had seen the blackout. She had been left to wander the hallway, to try and find her way to somewhere, though to go to any place felt difficult by the lack of sight.

But when she saw the light, Furiae paused in her steps. Concerned that she didn't know who the light belonged to, she was hesitant to call out and took a step back instead of forward. A fear of danger still lived inside of her, even though nothing had truly happened to her since coming to the school...

Chell - Outside or attempting to be outside

Chell didn't do well being cooped up somewhere. She could deal with no power and heat, but not when she was confined somewhere. She had to get out.

Donning a sweater, jacket, and scarf over her jumpsuit, Chell crawled through a window and attempted to dig through a wall of snow. Grabbing fistfuls with her gloves, she knew in the back of her mind that this wasn't a great idea. It was getting colder and colder the closer she drew to the surface.

As she throws back a handful of snow as just the right angle, she'll hear a sharp PAFF and a grunt.

It's Gordon. He'd gone to make sure Chell hadn't become a frozen lump, and now he's peering through the makeshift tunnel with a growing sense of alarm.

Byrne - Anytime

Byrne wasn't terribly concerned with the blackout. He had suffered worse, and he was a hardy man who could endure so much more than any human could. However, he was smart enough not to go outside in this storm, unlike other certain muses that were played by this particular mun.

While he certainly was cold, he simply wore a jacket over his usual attire and stayed in his room for the most part. He lit candles with his magic to keep the area visible, but otherwise he was content. Just annoyed that he mostly had to stay cooped up inside this building until the storm passed.

She was neither afraid nor the sort to simply allow things to happen. Not when she had a 'say' in it, at any rate. It wasn't too long after power had disappeared that Byrne had crossed her mind. What was he doing? And why? What did he have plans to do? Was he going to wait it out? He'd have to eat sometime.

There was a slight amount of guilt at the idea that she was going to see him before anyone else. And even stronger still with Pit on her mind. Her... son, as he was, probably deserved her attention first. She filed the thought away for later and considered she would have to go see him soon. But he was probably okay.

At Byrne's door, she stopped and knocked, still as ever persistent to stay in Gerudo garb that didn't cover enough of her. Like she was absolutely immune to the cold.

Mac - Anywhere

Mac hates being inside all day, but this weather was a bit rough to do anything.

So for the time being, he was getting blankets and stuff together and trying to help. Need assistance? Mac is your man.

Otherwise, he'd be sitting on a couch just resting and ready to be bugged.

Before the power went out, Edgeworth was waiting for an elevator. Look, he's a sensible man, he was able to ride a dang elevator every once in a while, ok. Yes, he had bad experiences with them in the past and yes, being able to hear the blizzard roaring outside was probably not a good thing, but he was willing to make a compromise for convenience's sake. Which was, in retrospect, a very bad decision.

But as it stood he was fine with getting into an elevator as long as it got him where he wanted to go. A nice bell, the doors would open, and he could get back to work.

The first thing Ocelot did when joining Edgeworth in the elevator was break the most sacred of elevator rules. Even more severe than the "don't push every button" rule.

That is, as the doors closed behind him, he looked Edgeworth in the eyes instead of ignoring him. He even added a chilly smirk.

Lucca was busy working in the auto shop, and yelped when darkness suddenly slammed in around her. A quick check confirmed that the network had been obliterated as well. Fortunately she had a handy source of light she could take with her everywhere: Her own fire.

So, finger lit like a candle, she navigates the rapidly-cooling tunnels under the school, trying to make it back to library basement and the basement of the student dorms.

But the Academy steam tunnels are creepy, even with the lights ON...

Hilda didn't have any magic, but she did have a big ol' Pokemon providing her a little light and warmth while she looks around the student dorms' basement for empty boxes and flammable stuff nobody would miss.

As a tiny candle flame creeps closer towards her, she squints at the darkness and calls out to greet it. "Uh... Hello...?" ...Sort of.

Snak - Anytime, Anywhere

He didn't bother to mutter it aloud. There'd be no point. At the point where he lost the ability to even see his hand in front of his face, he stumbled out into the hallway. Slipping his palm against the wall, he took a moment to pause, and with the free hand, fished about his sneaking suit until he withdrew his night vision goggles.

Without a moment's hesitance, the moment he set them over his face, he found himself a little less helpless and a little more helpful. So the first plan of action was probably to investigate how to get back up power to last longer...

There was good reason--plenty of good reasons--Samus moved out of the school long ago. Being trapped in it wasn't anything she'd look forward to, perhaps with the exception to play guardian watch dog over the other students and ensure their safety in a time of crisis. Of course, Samus often questioned in her many hours of brooding if they really needed that, after watching so many of them mature and grow up and be able to fend for themselves. This was just a power outage anyway--no big deal. She could handle weeks and months of roughing it in the wilderness, surely they could handle just a few hours (or even days if that's how long this took) on their own and not devolve into chaos... right?

Still, from her dark and power-less firehouse sanctuary, Samus couldn't help but be concerned (especially for Falcon, even knowing he could damn well take care of himself). If nothing else she knew Megaweapon would be safe and in good care by her side, wagging tail and all. Samus kept herself busy to keep herself from worrying--anything from collecting blankets, to indulging in some alcohol, to rummaging through old notes and blueprints for the hell of it. Moments like that made her realize a situation like this was really, for the most, pretty boring...

Codec numbers... she found scrawled on one of her notes. Huh. She'd carefully cataloged all the available frequencies and who had which as she learned them, though for personal reasons, they didn't see much use these days. She wondered if they were even the same anymore.

Bundled up in an over-sized sweater and pile of soft blankets, Samus dug out an old radio by candlelight and gave 141.80 a dial just to humor herself.

Voile - Errywhar

She was completely blind. That was all there really was to it. She couldn't see and that led to a good amount of time spent in her dormitory, trying to decide if it was smarter to leave and seek help, or at least some additional light source, or if she should just stay in her room, where she knew nothing wasn't going to get her.

Okay. She thought nothing would get her.

But being cleared in entire darkness was terrifying and Voile, not a fan of being in it, had all kinds of her own uncertainties. And it wasn't going to help if anyone else had some overwhelming feelings to add to hers. It was the worst time to be an empath, in her opinion. Well, one of the worst.

Sucking in what courage she had left, she imagined holding it at her very chest and made her way into the corridor. And all of the steps were baby steps. And after many of them, there were pauses where she simply listened, as if that somehow might help her find her way. But what else could she do...?

Other than grab onto the closest thing and cling to it like a child.

He was mostly unstirred. It was only darkness. There were far worse things in Midgard that awaited him. It would have been easier with his sword, however. And if he had been the same man he was over one year before, he would have seen it as a perfect opportunity to bring about a well of suffering. It would have been something - to murder a slew of innocent people in the dark of the night. Only for light to return and everyone to be terrified.

But that was the past and it would remain in the past.

I should verify Furiae's security, he thought as his steps were strong and taken with great intent. And he supposed in the end, it would be all the better to see everyone he was beginning to view as an ally of sorts.

Unfortunately during the blackout, Furiae had not decided to spend time in her room, but elsewhere. The darkness had caught her by surprise; she had thought to wait until the lights had returned, but with the likelihood of that decreasing as the minutes went by, staying standing still in the dark was not what the woman wanted to do.

So she had moved with the walls against her hands, using them to guide herself. The dark had never particularly scared her (despite what perhaps a younger Furiae may have told to a much younger older brother in a much happier time, in order to spend time with him), but the sudden arrival of it while walking in a hallway brought upon her a feeling of worry. Should she go to the common room? Turn around and back to the library? To her room?

It would likely be a while before these two met. Caim you have no voice to call her with.

Nabooru - Anytime

The Gerudo frowned. It wouldn't do at all. How many people were just sitting around and doing nothing? For as notoriously lazy as she'd gotten the reputation for being, Nabooru had a hard time standing idly by. There was a disease called restlessness that she'd grown a dislike for. Wandering around in dimly lit corridors certainly didn't seem to be productive either.

In a hand she held a candle, though if she'd had her way, it would have been a torch. That seemed more like her, too. Hair down around her face, she moved in a measured pace, not hasty, but not a snail's motion either. It was actually surprisingly casual, as though she had done this several times in the past. The only thing she really lacked was direction.

The Tauren had always been a people closely connected with nature. And Aquenda, who believed that the Earthmother was present in some way in all worlds, had been paying careful attention to the weather. Growing up in the Barrens didn't give her a lot of experience with snow, but being able to sense the elements themselves helped her realize that nature was very upset.

Of course trying to speak to the Earthmother didn't work here. Of course not. The city lacked any respect for anything spiritual. Hopefully the blizzard wouldn't last too long. The blackout was a little concerning, especially since the dark made it easier for a large bovine like herself to bump into narrow doorways, but she was far more worried about how the weather was affecting the stables.

Her kodo... There was plenty of feed in the stables, but the great beast was definitely not built for cold. And so it was that she ventured out into the snow, already up to her knees (even higher on your run of the mill human), and retrieved Pawne to bring her to the relative safety of the school.

Getting her fat butt through the entrance doors was difficult, but after about eight minutes, Aquenda was victorious! Now there was just the problem of navigating the dark halls and finding a place big enough to keep her.

So. In the cafeteria there could be found a cramped little gathering of one kodo, one tauren, and one senegal parrot. Aquenda had taken the bearskin from her dorm and was using it as a blanket as she sat against Pawne's side, singing a low song to herself in a foreign tongue. She would have preferred to be reading a book of some sort, but it was way too dark. Hopefully during the morning enough sunlight would shine through the clouds to light the way. If nothing else, maybe her eyes would adjust. Or maybe it would be okay to start a fire.

(Later on in the night she would have set up a small crudely-carved wooden totem on the floor, which pulsed and gave off a wave of heat every few seconds. Not perfect, but it was something.)

This blizzard worried Kieran. It worried him a lot. Aquenda hadn't been the only one who'd been outside during the storm, though Kieran hadn't managed to get far at all; the howling wind and driving snow made it impossible to see very far at all in front of him, and though he may have been winter-hearted, he was just as frail against the cold as any other grass-type.

It was with a heavy heart that Kieran had turned back and headed inside once again, snow clinging in heavy clumps to his furry winter coat and his wet hooves scrabbling almost comically against the slick linoleum. Truth be told, he wouldn't mind company in this dark place; spotting Aquenda was a welcome thing, even if the creature next to her was altogether unfamiliar. Doing an absurd-looking cautious, high-footed walk in hopes that it would lower his chances of slipping, he made his way over, lowing a greeting to her. She wouldn't mind a companion, even if it was a wet and chilly one, would she?

Mary didn't mind the dark on its own. She'd lived in it for so long, after all. Which was why she didn't like it, especially since she was all alone. So any time that she was left on her own, she would desperately seek out company.

"Hello? Hello?"

However, if anyone was lighting their way with a lighter or other flammable object, they would hear loud footsteps heading away from them...

"Who's there?" Out came a flashlight, and more importantly, some company. Probably not the kind Mary was hoping for, but hey, some frilly moron might be better than being alone. ...Maybe.

In any case, Edgeworth emerged from a room and waved the flashlight around as he looked for the source of the voice he heard.

Soryk is a Walking Nightlight

Grand. It was as if he was crawling his way under the darkened skies of Draenor. Well, what was left of Draenor. It wasn't one of the memories he wanted to have as he scouted. If he were honest with himself, however, Soryk would have said he didn't want any of the memories he had. They were persistent and merciless - not... that he longed for compassion.

He moved quietly, as if it were just another infiltration, another moment where he'd be capturing information. As if far at the end of this proverbial road was his victim.

The elf had thought about it, of course. Victims. It wouldn't have been difficult to make his way to the cafeteria. To poison all of the food. To bring the entirety of the academy down. To demand... what? All he really wanted was a way to return to Azeroth without the use of portals, for a portal could not be trusted if history was any general indication.

But something else struck him. It would, undoubtedly, be the perfect time to catch that ninja boy. The one Seth wanted taken out so badly. And that seemed to be Soryk's primary objective. At least such was his intent, and he knew he wasn't immune to distractions.

Well, this was inconvenient. And a little worrying! As much as Ishimaru would have loved to make an announcement of some kind to get everyone in order and give them instructions on the best ways to keep warm and where everyone should group up to do a headcount... he couldn't without electricity, could he?

Maybe if he told everyone to meet in one place by a certain time? Everyone's watches should still be working, after all. But how could he guarantee that he'd find everyone before that time? If he gave himself too much time, people would lose interest and wander off. Especially the unruly lot of students here.

At the very least, he could make sure there weren't any emergencies happening within the school. He patrolled the halls with one hand on the wall, calling out at each corner.

So at some point Ishimaru decided his services would be greatly needed at the kitchens. After all, it would be horrible to let food spoil while the power was out! ...The ovens weren't working either, but he would clear out what he could.

Look, he was totally being useful. And he was a little hungry.

MEANWHILE IN THE LIBRARY

It was cold and dark and cold and Wheatley did not have his flashlight and he did not know what to do. It wasn't that he was afraid of the dark, per se, but without the built-in flashlight things were just a little more creepy than he was comfortable with.

He knew that maybe he should try and relocate to the student dorms, or one of the academic buildings, but his sweater-and-blankets nest under Vianca's desk had become far too secure for him to even think about leaving.

So that was where he stayed, shivering and vaguely terrified, but at least there were a lot of books to read.

Re: MEANWHILE IN THE LIBRARY

Cammy, meanwhile, had been trapped near the athletic center for quite a while. Finally on her way back through the main building, she chose to quit while she was ahead, and stop before reaching the dorms. She was worried about Voile, but then again, Voile had been dressing herself for a very long time, now. She ducked into the library, looking worse for wear, and shook the snow off her coat before entering.

"Wheatley??"

As she called out to him, she sent a text to Voile, keeping her informed. She hoped her room mate was okay...

At the end of a cold, dark, hallway, there is a light.

Upon further inspection, it seems to be the light of a fire, flickering from the open door of one Captain Falcon's office, residence of the Most Comfortable Couch in the Entire World.

As soon as the generator fails, Zelda springs into action, making rounds in the dorms to ensure that all the students are warm and safe. It's easy to catch her checking various rooms, always putting her RA duties first.

The lack of generators is very worrying indeed, but Zelda won't let her concerns show, instead putting all her time and energy into making sure everyone is taken care of.

She can most easily be found in the dorms, arms full of pillows and blankets.

Soryk's been - eerily - keeping an eye on her. It's true that she crossed his mind when the lights failed, but where he comes from, such things are a privilege and not a right. With it being lights out, it's almost like home for him. Almost. Just with a more tolerable elf.

So when she finally takes a moment for herself, it's not too long afterward that he offers a knock onto her door. Ding dong, ding dong. Your knight in leather armour has arrived. Okay. It's not armour. But it is soft leather.

Tails - All the time erry day

Tails had taken it upon himself to wander the halls in search of anyone that needed a source of light. He had multiple flashlights just for this occasion (and also a few electronic gizmos that worked on batteries that could be used for a light source, just not nearly as long as a flashlight) and was willing to give them to anyone who asked.

He wouldn't leave the vicinity of the dorms, however, as he didn't want to stray too far from his own dorm room in case something really bad happened.

Bulba - Anywhere you want him

There was nothing about this scenario that sat well with Bulba. The warmth that had been in his room was quickly fleeing, and Bulba had never been very good with the cold. He was also alone, at the moment, and that was generally all right. Except it was so dark. He was cold and alone in the dark, and that was not okay. For a bit he curled up in his nest of blankets and sweaters, trying to keep warm as he curled around a light bulb terrarium to lend the small pink flower inside a bit of that heat. It'd be okay. It'd be all right. He just had to repeat to himself and... and... Bulba shivered and uneasily snuck out of his tiny blanket fortress, turning back to nudge the blankets around the bulb.

AND SO. BULBA WENT TO DO THINGS after pulling out a few more choice sweaters. You could find him either:

A.) Being the good RA like Zelda, making sure people were all right and helping out where he could despite the distinct chatter of his teeth. He is here. For you. Bulba's braver face was on for anyone counting on him, at least.

or B.) Looking for friends or team mates because he was cold and freaked out by the dark and auugh. A very disgruntled Ivysaur, indeed.

Did you happen to be in the hallways where the teacher's dorms were? Because you would see a flicker of light in the distance. A little flame.

And a tall figure lightly silhouetted by the dark and the dim light.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!!

Well there was someone super excited to see this much snow and from the looks of it, didn't seem all too deterred from enjoying herself. Sure she wouldn't be silly enough to go out into the blizzard... not unless there was something that caught her attention out there.

But Riwane seemed to be in pretty good spirits and could be found setting up a hot chocolate stand in one of the open areas in the school. It was free for anyone passing by, but hey, she wouldn't say no to tips!

When not giving out hot cocoa, she can be found playing with the snow that has gathered in front of the dorms. Every now and then she'd step out, collect some more and go build snow somethings inside. That, or she'd make snowballs and toss them out at random things.

The dark didn't affect her considering she was had a literal bonfire on her tail and anyone was welcome to hang out with her.

Jon made his way out into the snow to see her. Even for someone tempered against the cold like he was by long, snowy winters, this was getting uncomfortably chilly.

"I appreciate your enterprising nature, though it's colder than a penguin's left one out here. You sure you're not going to catch the flu or something?"
