A LIBRARY LOG: The log I have owed for half a year.
Who: YOU.
What: ARE IN THE LIBRARY.
When: A log for the month of January.
Warnings: SHHHHHHHHH IT'S A LIBRARY.
You approach a building. It is covered in ivy, and does not seem all that impressive on the outside.
YOU ENTER.
The scent of books hits you palpably in the face.
By choice or not, you have crossed the threshold into the library. It is time to be quiet, or that ghostly pale, little red-eyed girl that stared at you as you entered will set you on fire. At least, that's what you believe she could probably do. Seems like it.
You quickly realize that this building has three and a half stories. All of them are full of books and strange little corners and cubbies and arm chairs that mysteriously seem to move every so often when the weird pale girl is not at the front desk.
You quickly realize that you are SO LOST.
Should you desire to learn of this strange buildings interior in GREAT DETAIL, you may do so here. However this probably won't help you become UNLOST. Neither will this CONVENIENT LIST OF BOOK CATEGORIES.
But don't panic!!! THE PALE GIRL WILL HELP YOU. OR PERHAPS THE STRANGE METAL BALL. Or is it a ginger. No one is ever really sure these days. But they are the librarian and library assisstant, respectively, and they will do what they can to either help you or get you EVEN MORE LOST. It depends on who you get. God rest your soul.
OTHER THINGS OF NOTE:
❀ Vianca, the librarian, sits upon a great many books stacked on her roller chair while she is at the front desk. You should ask her to do something just so you can see the spectacle that is climbing down. When she is not climbing up and down the books or taking care of things in the shelves, you can usually find her ere reading. This month she has started to plow through all things art and art history related, hooray.
✿ Wheatley, the assisstant, is currently having human issues and has created a nest of sweaters and blankets underneath the desk at Vianca's feet. You probably shouldn't ask to pet him.But why would you. When you can't hear him, he is probably... not there. Because otherwise you know he is there. Don't worry about finding him, he'll find you.
❀ The Library is for everyone.
✿ The Library's hours vary nowadays, but you can reliably find it open between 8-6 daily. Sometimes you can find it open as early as 6 am, and as late as 11.

Oh and hope you're wearing gloves, Shadow. And don't step on her book...! Her bright and colourful book with big words. It's a story book.
no subject
"You were reading this, weren't you?" He sets it down in front of her. There. That'll keep her quiet.
no subject
And he even moved her book, too! Looking at it from his lap, Maisy found as well it was much easier. It hadn't been a total pain on her neck, but sitting slouched over the side of the chair did make it hard to turn the page when she needed to.
It was much closer, too! Her eyes peered over her nose down at the book, the words and pictures much clearer! It was a book about a girl who went into a house that belonged to a biiiiig family...
But Maisy wasn't going to just go back to reading right away. She turned her head up to Shadow, looking at his face as much as she can, as she gave to him a thankful "Mareep!" before plopping herself down comfortably onto him. And good-- even sitting she could still see over the table!
no subject
Of course, she just earned the typical Shadow response. He wasn't going to bounce right up to welcoming her with a smile on his face. He'd look like a ridiculous goofball. Was he a ridiculous goofball? No way. He's manly as hell.
She- She was kind of cute, though, baaing with gratitude and sticking her nose into the book she coveted. He hadn't started reading yet, so maybe he could... just...
No, that'd be stupid and not manly as hell. Shadow wasn't. He wouldn't.
Yet he did, gently scratching the top of her adorable fuzzy-lumpkin head. Aaaww.
no subject
"Mmmaaaaaa~"
Oh -- but okay, Maisy just can't resist reacting to where she gets some love. Her voice was something like a purr, echoing against her throat, simply a sound of pleasure than any actual word. Maybe she shouldn't be so easily content and happy in the lap of a stranger, but there certainly seemed nothing wrong with it right now!
She tipped her head up a bit, to allow the man to do what he might like. The very manly man.
no subject
Nope. That was not going to happen.
Oh, but what was she reading? It looked a lot like a book Maria might have liked. He used to read those with her, sometimes even to her to lull her to sleep. Maybe he'd know this one if 50-year-old classics still floated about.
"I didn't think you could read." His free hand trailed along the side of the book, tempted on flipping it so he could see the title. He held back solely for this little Mareep, but he remained far too curious.
"Hn. I want to see this."
no subject
But -- he wanted to look? "Ma, mareep." The Mareep turned her head a bit to look at Shadow, offering to him the permission to take a look. In the case though he didn't understand it, she lowered her head and bumped her nose against his hand, then moved her head away. Take a look!
Know any stories about a blonde-haired girl and three big creatures, Shadow?
no subject
Well, it was the same exact thing, so what the hell. Shadow really didn't care about getting into the semantics of the whole thing.
"Yes, I know this one." He especially took note of the cute little blond. He always remembered Maria thinking they looked alike. Heh. "I... had a friend who enjoyed reading it before bed."
He wished he could read it to her now, but alas.
no subject
"Mareeeeep?" With a questioning tone to her voice, the Mareep looked straight up at Shadow, bending her head back. Did he want to read the book with her?
no subject
"I am only curious," Shadow informed her with a stroke of his hand over her head. "Nostalgic, interested, and nothing more."
He had to wonder, though...
Would this little sheep read Little Bo Peep & Her Mareep?
no subject
But whatever Shadow chose to do, she would have to wait for him to do it. For example, opening her book back up for her to read if he decided to go to his own book.
Or was Little Bo Peep & Her Mareep Shadow's literature for the hour?
no subject
...
Well, no one was around. Maybe just this once, he could kind of bend...
"Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks," he began, his voice low so only she could hear. "She lived at the edge of the forest with her family."
He glanced back down at her. Was this fine?
no subject
But oh, she didn't need to; and when she heard him say the opening words, her eyes blinked and her head lifted to the familiarity of what she was hearing. She had not so long read those words herself. Perhaps if she had visible ears, they would had turned and twitch.
Maisy looked back up to Shadow, looking at him with some curiosity, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she gave her answer by sticking her head closer to the book and waiting for him to continue. Another glance back though, wondering and eager, to wait and see when he would continue.
Her attention was all his.
no subject
"One morning, while she was picking flowers, Goldilocks wandered into the forest and lost her way," continued Shadow, his voice dropping slightly to give the story its proper weight. "She was very frightened, but then she saw a friendly little cottage in the distance."
He flipped the page, displaying two pictures, one on each, before Maisy's eyes. One was of three Ursaring leaving their home, and the next was of Goldilocks preparing to sample some oatmeal. On these pages, he read, "The friendly little cottage belonged to three Ursaring. One was a great big..." Shadow trailed off with a slight cringe. 'Papa, mama'? He was going to reword that. "... father, one was a middle-sized mother, and one was a tiny little boy that had just recently evolved. That morning, the three bears decided to take a walk while their porridge – which tastes like oatmeal – was cooling. It was too hot to eat."
He gave a somewhat disgruntled sigh, taking a moment to give his critique so far, not having yet flipped the page.
"This is the worst rendition of this story I've read so far." Papa and mama? The transitions being uncomfortable? Awful and horrible.
